 The pale brown colt was having a grand time.
He had been spending most of the day with his father so far, as his mother and sister were off doing girl stuff like...like...well whatever it was that girls did. And so as always they had started the day with his favourite activity - sparring. He loved training with his parents and grandparents, learning moves and combinations and how to defend and attack, and someday he would be a brave knight! It was just as well his sister had not come today for though her loved her, she hated sparring and training because the thought of hurting something else pained her. She was too gentle for the daring nature of being a knight, he thought.
Aneurin fancied that he excelled in it however, and as his father had often said, they needed some outlet for the boundless energy the colt seemed to possess so it was just as well he enjoyed the training. He had so much boundless energy in fact that it found him away from his father at the moment, who was down by the creek taking a drink and resting a bit. Ane didn't like resting, there was nothing to do! With such youthful energy as his he had bounded off, still close enough he could hear his father if the large grey stallion called, but not quite close enough to see. This suited him just find, engrossed in his imaginary game as he was.
"Ha! Take that foul skinwalker!" He shouted gleefully, boxing the air with his hooves. "I'm a brave knight you will never defeat me!"
Normally when he played this game, his sister was the princess he was saving from the skinwalker/kalona/demon. Today however he was on his own but he was okay with that. It just meant he didn't have to check his enthusiasm at all.

A small starry bat flew in the sky, even though it was daylight out. If anyone would have paid any attention to her, they would have realized that this was no ordinary bat, with bats being nocturnal creatures and all. Her ears twitched from side to side, detecting any sort of sound. This bat was hungry and she did not crave bugs, but rather, she craved blood and flesh. The sound of talking caught her attention and soon she veered in the direction of the voice.
Upon finding the source of the voice, she flew around in a circle a few times to see whether this would be an easy hunt or not. A foal was there...and an adult. But the adult looked familiar, and so the starry bat swooped down towards the adult to get a closer look, almost hitting him in the ear as she flew by. With that close by look she flew off out of sight, and out of the way. When she was in a secluded area not to far from where the pair was, she made the transformation from bat to demon. After she transformed, she made her way back to the site, but kept out of sight when she called out to the adult.
"So, what is a little squashable bug like yourself doing out here? Did Adelle finally tell you that she didn't love you anymore? And now you have that pathetic little foal with you? Hopefully he isn't as hopeless and pathetic as you were. Perhaps I should let him know that you don't actually love him at all." Her voice was sinister and unkind as she spoke. Neva knew that he would find her, and she didn't mind. She was after all a skinwalker anymore. It was she who had the upperhand right now.

The stallion had been resting by the creek while his young son played nearby. He couldn't help but smile at the child's enthusiasm, and honestly he had to wonder where the little colt got so much energy from. His daughter was very much a mix of himself and his mate, but his boy, perhaps was more his grandfather's son than anything. Alexiel could not remember ever being that rambunctious. But then again...his youth was not like most soquilis, and had he not suffered through some traumatic events so very young, perhaps he would have been more excitable. Still...this was no time to dwell on the past, when the future was playing on yards away. He was thankful Aneurin took so well to training, though he made it fun, it also taught the colt skills he may need to know in the future. Alexiel never wanted his children to be caught unprepared.
He was deep enough in thought he barely noticed the flying creature before it almost smacked him in the head. He jerked upright, shaking his head irritably. Alexiel hadn't gotten a good look at what the thing was, just saw a vague flash of purple. Probably a clumsy bird. One that obviously needed flying practice.
But the sound of a voice brought him immediately out of any thoughts he may have had. A voice he had once dreaded, once run from in terror in his youth. A voice - and the mare who owned it who he had grown to hate. There was no mistaking it, her nickname for him made it that much more apparent, as did the mention of his mother. No one else would dare call him bug, or talk of Adelle. There were only two soquili in the world he could honestly say that he truly hated, and she was one of them. The sinister wind mare who had corrupted his youth, broken his mother's heart. Somehow she had found him again.
"Neva!" He called out angrily. "You will not go near my son. Aneurin! Come quickly!" He called out for the foal, hoping the boy would sense the urgency and run to him. He didn't want that mare anywhere close to his family.
~~~~~~~~~ Hearing voices, the colt perked his head. It sounded like a mare, and though he couldnt clearly hear what she was saying, his father's response frightened him. He had never heard his father with that tone in his voice, a fearsome rage. His ears went immediately back and at Alexiel's call, Aneurin went running, wings tucked into his sides to get there quickly. He couldn't see anyone else, but he had heard the other voice and could only assume they were hiding in the trees.
For the first time in his life he was truly frightened. What was going on? Was this a kalona? Were they going to be eaten? He knew his father had fought beasts like them before but he had never seen it, and his father did not speak too much of the life he had led before meeting his mother. He only knew his father had been obsessed with revenge, ridding the world of kalona and skinwalkers for reasons the colt hadn't been told yet. He hoped he wasn't about the meet such a creature.
Oh, that rage in his voice, the sound of wanting revenge made Neva smirk. She could also sense a bit of fear in his voice when it came to his son. "Aww the poor little bug seems to have feelings for that little brat. That'll just make it more fun for me. Watching you break down after I have finished him off for my meal." And with that she finally revealed herself to the adopted son of Adelle whom she had caused so much pain before.
Her bat wings were spread wide, her eyes held that look of insanity, and her ears pointed straight at the pair to catch every sound they make. The claws on her wings glinted in the sun, and her pelt had a shiny gloss to it as she kept it clean, though it did have some bloodstains here and there in areas she couldn't quite reach. While she was no kalona, she was a worse demon than them and she wasn't afraid to show them just how treacherous she could be.
"Like the new look? I think it is quite fitting for me if you really think about it. Now, let me get a closer look at my dinner." She snarled and waited to see if he would listen to her or if she would have to attack them in order to get them to listen.
Though his eyes clearly saw her, his mind was having trouble believing it, having trouble processing her new form, no longer a simple twisted wind mare, she was far more now. Far darker, far more dangerous. Before when she threatened him, it had angered him certainly, but it had never come to blows. Before she had been a wind, and as an angeni, they both knew he had the advantage. But now...now she had given herself to the darkness in a way he hadn't ever considered. It was shortsighted of him perhaps, but how could he have guessed this would ever happen? Had she...had Neva wanted this? He almost didn't know why he was so surprised, it matched almost everything he knew about her and her evil nature, and yet it was so far beyond anything he had thought of when she came to mind that he could barely process it.
He had heard of her stunt with the skinwalker kalona stallion, and as manipulative as it was it hadn't gone the way she had wanted. So now this? This was her final move, her last attempt to destroy her family by becoming a creature of mindless destruction, craving nothing but suffering and pain. Though he was loathe to see her, he was almost glad she had found him before she had found Adelle. His poor mother...she never would have stood a chance. His mentor Aleksei had told him the fate of their two breeds. Skinwalkers, born of destruction, evil, suffering. Angeni, born of the holiest, purest light. Mortal enemies by breed, the only two breeds that stood a fair chance in a fight against one another. And that was precisely why it must be him to finish her, he knew. Not for anything so simple as his duty as an angeni, but his duty as a son, as a father.
"Skinwalker. You will not touch my son, you will not touch my mother. Neva...now that it has come to this, I will make sure you never hurt anyone again. Ever." He shifted his weight now, taking a fighting stance, light on his feet, ready for her to move. Skinwalkers were vicious and unpredictable, and their disregard for their own welfare often made them even the more dangerous to fight. He would have to be careful in order to kill her.
Ane ran to his father, skidding to a stop behind his legs jsut as the mare revealed herself. She was like nothing he had ever seen before, but instantly he knew what she must be. Not a kalona, as he had first thought. Something much worse...no other soquili wore the pelts of animals. None other than skinwalkers. And out of all the things his father taught him to fear, skinwalkers were number one. He shivered, scrambling farther back behind his father, watching the grey stallion get ready to fight.
Neva couldn't help but laugh a very malicious laugh as she heard that stupid bug talking. "You really think that I haven't gone after that pathetic excuse of a mare? How do you know that I haven't? You were the one that ran off and broke her heart. No one trusts you. So why would they tell you that she is dead?" She took a few steps closer to him, her eyes showing all the rage and hatred she had for that blasted Angeni. "You are to late to save her. Not that it matters anyways." All of it was a lie of course, but she was making plans to go and kill them all. For now though, it was time to toy with her meal before she attacked.
Glancing at the foal she shook her head. "Poor pathetic little bug junior. Does he tell you that he loves you? It's all a lie. A lie that he fabricated to make up for the fact that he has no heart. For if he had a heart then he wouldn't be able to easily break his mother's heart like he did. The poor dear never healed from that. Which is why she was thankful that I took her life. So if you want to be spared from being hurt later on down the future, you should really cut your ties with him." Her voice had taken on an eerie sort of warning tone as she eyed the foal while she spoke. All it took, was just that seed of doubt to start causing chaos in the mind. That was all the entrance she would need.
pippi18848 Hope this is okay, still trying to stay true to his character. ^^ Though he knew Neva’s words were as unreliable as rain in a drought his chest constricted at her speech concerning his mother. For a split second he visualized the fear and heartbreak upon that sweet mare’s face as her own daughter came at her, teeth bared and lethal intent blazing behind her eyes. A small portion of his mind cried out as it became ensnared in doubt, but he was revived by the sensation of his son clinging closely to him. He could not, would not, lose his resolve now. “I don’t believe you.” He retorted flatly. Memories of her previous dealings with dishonesty gave him strength as he looked her squarely in the eye. He was not the same foal she had pushed around in the past, this time when he told her he didn’t believe her, he meant it. “You continue feeding me that same spiel about abandoning my mother, but I have come to terms with that and have repented. You are beginning to sound similar to the repetative droning of a waterfall Neva.” His bravery was guided not only by the urge to protect his precious son but also the reaffirmed love he had sensed from Adelle upon their tearful reunion. Neva was the one that no one trusted; she was the one who was left out of the family dealings. Nevertheless, he knew that she planned wholeheartedly to harm his family and he would be loath to see that happen.
His teeth clenched as she began addressing Ane and he spread two of his great wings, shielding the colt from her spear like gaze. “You will not speak to him monster!” He boomed, addressing her as one would address a rat skittering amongst droppings. “You may have been able to fill my head with your fabrications but this time you are not talking to a foal you have isolated! I am right here, defending my boy.” His posture had not shifted in all the time he had spoken to her as he remained ready for a fight. All of the anger he had felt toward her, toward Wyrm began to fester inside of him and he used it as fuel. Before he had given into her quite easily, but no more. He had seen his sweet mother again, told her the truth of what had happened and now he was a father himself. The times had changed and so had he.
( Raaawr here goes nothing! Hopefully I'm keeping to the character well enough x.x ) Aneurin leaned to the side peering out at the mare. She had those bat wings and that pelt… She was what was called a skin walker. The stories that were told to him sure they were scary. Skin walkers were just suppose to be a bedtime story that kept foals from being bad. Or at least that’s what he had thought…
“Papa… I’m scared…” He choked out softly. The mares voice was ringing in his ears, she was talking to him. His eyes glanced to her and then back to his father. His voice might have been to soft for even his father to hear. He was yelling at her. He rarely ever heard his father raise his voice. Alexiel’s body language made Aneurin almost hyper away. He had to listen to what his father and obey without question. But the colt was worried that he might be too scared to move!
Does he tell you that he loves you? The colt’s ears perked up and he glanced back to his father. Yes… Father does tell me he loves me. He thought to himself, but was it possible it was just a lie? His parents had told him that not everyone tells the truth. But maybe this mare was lying? Or maybe thye lied to him. Aneurin shook his head. No! He yelled at himself. He couldn’t doubt his parents, they wouldn’t lie to him. He didn’t want to leave his father…
Her laugh rang out through the air, it's maliciousness causing shivers on any who heard her. Oh, she was not going to let him get away with this so easily. Neva had caught the quick glance the foal gave his father when he heard her words. A foal's mind was so easy to toy with, to mold, and to destroy. All it took was that little seed of doubt.
"You honestly think that you can protect him from my voice?" She took a few steps closer to the stallion as she spoke. "One cannot protect others against the words that are spoken and once spoken they can never be unheard. But I know you, bug, I know what kind of hurt you can create." Snarling she spread her wings, showing how massive they were, preparing herself to attack. "Perhaps the little one should join me. I won't hurt him with fake love. You don't love him. You just want to use him. Destroy him. Destroy the soul he has. Just as you destroyed your mother's." Oh, how she wanted to lunge at his throat, and make the blood drip, but she waited. Maybe the foal would join her instead, she already knew she had caused the foal to doubt with just the quick glance she caught. Having the foal run from his father would be so pleasurable for her, just watching Alexiel's heart be wrenched from his body and soul and watching him suffer. Yes. That was what she wanted. She wanted the stallion to suffer.
