Specialization: Chambermaid / Thane (the highest title her family can appoint her at the current moment without allowing her full privileges and birthrights)

Physical Description:

Acacia stands roughly at 5’2” at the head, give or take an inch, her body is of a slim build and her chest is rather on the flat side though make no mistake she is not mannish in the slight. Her hair is a lackluster shade of brown which she keeps pulled into a ponytail, long, jagged bangs frame her narrow face and fall past her chin in some areas and only to her cheeks and nose in other parts. Quite honestly the thane is a disheveled mess of a woman especially since she constantly toys with her tresses or her ears. Ah yes, her ears. Being part elf, part Skh'et gives Acacia rather unique physical features. Much like a human or an elf her ears are positioned on the sides of her face rather than the top of her head, the shell of her extra-long appendages are pointed at the end with small tufts of brown fur at the very tips as well as soft, plush fuzz along the back of her ears, the remainder of her auditory limbs are smooth and hairless. In length her ears are over a foot long and have a wide range of movement which help her display emotions.

Acacia’s skin tone is fair and verges on a sickly pallor, her complexion is only highlighted by her rounded almond-shaped eyes which are a bright pink with flecks of violet around the irises. To down play her exotic appearance Acacia wears simple tunics and trousers when permitted and is most commonly seen with short sword and dagger at her belted hip, years ago the weaponry would be nothing more than a status sign however with her title of thane Acacia has learned to use the arms and values them as respected tools.

Background:

The lineage of Miss Vermeil is circumstantial at very best and shrouded in every color veil of lie one could conjure to mind. Acacia’s father for all intents and purposes was said to have come from a prestigious clan of nobles and was forced abandoned her mother due to his family frowning upon him engaging in relations with such a repugnant lowly creature, especially one that was an indentured servant; such a terrible scandal! The end result of the affair left the newborn Acacia and her mother being sent to live under the watchful eye of a less significant sister clan that would keep them both in check as well as make sure the girl was raised with a higher set of education and manners on the off chance that she would need to be called from the shadows as the heiress to the family line.

Those that raised her regarded the chance of her amounting to anything more than just a servant as pure nonsense, that mindset driving their actions those in charge of her upbringing reared her to be obedient and demure; their word was law and nothing but punishment awaited those that disobeyed or displayed rebellion. The hands of time guided Acacia’s journey into adolescence, her demeanor was flawless by design, perky, punctual, compliant and submissive beyond belief, no one could ask or breed at better grade of servant to cater to their every whim.

Sometimes however, regardless of how minuscule the odds seem things take unexpected turns into the unforeseen. Events unfolded so quickly that the long-eared fifteen-year old found herself in a state of shock as she was removed from the manor that she had always known as home and sent to live at a much more grand estate run almost solely by humans. The manner in which she was greeted upon arrival startled the pale complexioned youth, a broad-shouldered man with small rounded ears and a beard as white as freshly driven snow approached her then smiled warmly upon her. The elegant wisp at his elbow peered towards the girl, there was something she held in her gaze that made Acacia’s heart speed along her ribcage, an expression of understanding perhaps? For a moment the girl hadn’t even noticed the noblewoman held the sharp features of an elf, not until the woman tucked a strand of silver hair behind her long, pointed auditory shell then repeated the action with that of the brown tresses of the Halfling. The kindness of the touch almost felt like fire along her skin and the comment of ‘she takes after her father’ did more than make her pallor and go weak in the knees.

Weeks passed before Acacia fully came to grasps with her odd situation, it seemed that her birthfather had recently taken ill and with no other known successor his aging parents thought it a reasonable gesture to reach out to the illegitimate Halfling spawn as their final hope. Their optimism was met with uncertainty in the lass, she was well-mannered and polite, however she lacked confidence and certain knowledge that any leader should possess. Knowing their work was far from over in molding her into the role that she would one day need to uphold her grandparents set to work training the bizarre looking child.

To say there wasn’t love in their actions would have been heresy and punishable in the most strict of fashions, her grandmother especially took a shine to the girl despite her unnatural appearance, years had knitted them together closer than the stitch that she shared with her own son, she was more than just a symbol or a beneficiary she in the elf’s eyes truly more precious than her own child and so it pained her beyond measure when Acacia’s father admitted to have an older child that he knew of upon his passing. By rights the lad that they found was the true heir to the family name and the next in line to govern over their village, he was everything that they had hoped for and yet he unlike his half-sister was inflated with a sense of self-worth and arrogance. He was an irritating creature at the very least and treated the younger girl with lack of respect that grated upon his grandparents’ nerves, all of the hard work they had spent building up her confidence came tumbling down as the older teenager ordered her around like a lowly animal. The abuse came day in and day out from her half-sibling until one winter’s eve when she was out roaming the countryside in search of components for a brew her ‘bother’ was insisting that she make for him Acacia found herself with a snout pressed against her forehead and a honeyed voice playing within her mind, from that day forward Vim made sure that she was no longer the target of such lowly, unattractive vermin such as the boy that shared her bloodline. Oh no, not her darling Acacia, she simply would not have it.

The way she blossomed from a meek, frightened child into a poised, sophisticated woman after she was bonded astounded her grandparents and because of this they appointed the highest prestige upon her to assure her spot within the family dynamics of the clan; especially because of the outward jealousy her brother displayed towards her. Seeing it best to keep the two apart once again Acacia was sent to live elsewhere while continuing her various forms of training.

Personality:

[+] Intelligent: Acacia is one that is not just well-read but also is in possession of common sense. Her tongue albeit sharp tends to get the girl out of more trouble than into, on the rare occasion the twenty-three old has issues talking her way out of certain situations however when her wit fails her, she makes up for it with her fist or simply takes the smarter route and runs like a b***h.

[+] Open-Minded: Life is too short to judge people. Period. There are so many different races with their own sets of customs and beliefs that it would just be idiotic to shun those that are unique, for every variance that is brought forth Acacia learns something new and takes these unfamiliar lessons to heart in effort to better herself.

[+] Modest: As unpretentious as one person can be Acacia is demure by nature and holds herself as such. Make no mistake the long-eared girl is not shy by any means but also isn't one that wishes to be lavished with excess attention.

[+/-] Determined: F*ck you, I’m gonna do this! Once Acacia sets her mind to something the young woman tries so very hard to see it through to the end even if it causes her distress or is somewhat unreasonable. She is a clever enough girl to admit defeat but won’t give up without a fight.

[+/-] Approachable: Acacia has a natural pleasant air around her, the way she looks at people and holds herself makes her a very approachable Halfling, even to other races that otherwise are disapproving towards her kind. Acacia furthers this characteristic with her non-judgmental manner, overall the young woman stands out in a crowd and is more than willing to actually help if her aid is required.

[+/-] Obsessive Compulsive: Acacia might be determined however some of her mannerisms surpass that which would be considered normal. Once she has something stuck in her head she simply can’t let it go, certain things have to be done just right otherwise she grows uncomfortable and anxious and cannot help but fidget uncontrollably.

[-] Emotional: Wearing her feelings on her sleeves this youthful thane sometimes lets her heart govern her actions rather than thinking things through. When Acacia is happy, she is extremely jubilant, when she is down she practically has a raincloud hovering over her head. Unlike most people the girl displays her emotions in a manner that seems embellished and overly exaggerated.

[-] Insecure: Underneath her cheerful demeanor Acacia is extremely insecure and lacks self-confidence in herself and often flinches and shies away from others that are imposing or dominating.

[-] Flighty: In addition to being emotional Acacia is ‘flighty’ meaning her mood shifts unexpectedly from happy to upset, the smallest things can trigger the change in her behavior and she has no control over it whatsoever. Once she is upset or sad she tends to harp on the bad emotion and wallows in self-pity before something set her into a better mood.
