This is a private RP between: Malo and Zale. Where: Spades market. What's happening: Zale has been avoiding anyone outside of Spades, and it's been a long time. Too long.
Zale adjusted his hood, roaming through the market silently. He walks quietly, smoothly, gliding past various vendors and stalls with little interest. Yellow eyes were narrowed, flicking side to side as he read the signs and quickly dismissed them. He was here to pick up Sully's weapon, nothing more. Nothing less, nothing more.
He hadn't visited his friends lately. Then again, he didn't have many to visit. Malo. That was his closest friend, or had been. Each time he remembered that name he cringed. Each time he tried to erase it. He didn't want that name anymore. Malo was gone. Isaac and Briar were gone. He didn't want friends. He didn't want them to see the monster he was becoming. Malo hated Spades, and he only liked Zale simply because Zale wasn't like them.
He was becoming like them.
He was a monster. He was the beginning of all these nightmares. All these murderers and liars. His hands only knew the blood of training obstacles, but one day....
He flinched. He needed to stop. He was growing insane, he could feel it. He was becoming not only a monster, but insane. He couldn't keep doing this. It was his fate to be this creature, yes, but that didn't mean he was supposed to lose any sense of sanity.
He was lonely, he admitted. However, how much longer would it take for that desire of companionship to fade? He....was scared. Yet, he had no choice. He was becoming a monster, a true delegate of Spades.
He stopped at the stall he needed, reciting the chosen words given to him. Swiftly, a wrapped bundle was placed in his hand and he slipped it into the pouch of his hoodie, turning back to head for.... for....
Home.

Malo sighed. He couldn't just leave it up to fate any longer. He had sent letters to Zale in Spades, asking and inviting him to several occasions and play dates. He was unaware that the delegates housing him checked the mail for their trainees and only delivered relevant mail. His letters had made good kindling.
But Malo didn't know that. He was hurt and...angry? No, he wasn't angry. He was concerned. He wasn't the type to think that someone wouldn't write back to him if they had the means to. What if something had happened to Zale? What if he was dead? Concern made him set out that cold morning, a bindle tied around his neck for the long trip. It wasn't too far, right?
Finally, he came to Spades. He did not like it here and Alice save him if he ran into Jace. He had a curled look, not speaking or making eye contact...just searching the grounds and looking for the green hoody...or even the big, yellow eyes if the hoody had been taken away.
Then, he saw him. He was carrying something. Joy overcame sense and he dove down, hugging the other tightly from behind and flaring up his flame, setting it to brightly burn to show his joy. "ZALLY! I FOUND YOU!"
He ignored the eyes glaring all around them.

Zale heard something moving, however he wasn't trained enough yet to dodge it. Yet. A figure had wrapped its arms around him, and he recognized that voice before he went into fighting mode. However, as his heart pounded he tensed.
Malo.
The last person he wanted to see him, the last person he ever wanted to see. Malo.... he... wasn't supposed to be here. Zale wanted to hide, yet the little ghost had still found him. How? He had never thought.... never had he thought the ghost would ever come into Spades.
".....Malo." His voice was low, not showing the pain he was feeling. He didn't want to do this, but....
He shoved Malo away.
The male spread his legs as he turned, having pushed Malo so hard he had slipped backwards. His heels kept him from falling, eyes narrowing harshly. 'I don't want to do this... but I'm a monster.'
"What are you doing here?" He hissed, this time his voice did shake. He needed to control his voice. He needed to control his emotions. He needed to protect Malo.

Malo expected a warm reception. This was Zale! He and Malo were going to do all kinds of adventures and have lots and lots of fun. But now he was on the ground, looking up with less-than-knowing eyes. He didn't understand.
"Zale?" He slowly got to his feet and did not approach again, frowning like he had broken someone else's toy. Had he done something to make Zale act this way?
"I...well, um..I came looking for you. You didn't reply to any of my letters and I waited for you in the market a few times, but you never came. So..I came looking for you. I missed you." He frowned a little harder. "Zale, are you okay?"

Malo's voice hurt his heart, and Zale wanted to apologize. But that wasn't him anymore. He just wanted to seize Malo and explain everything, but.... Already he was seeing people watch him, several from the mansion he lived in. Zale's back shuddered, all the way to his tail. He... Malo....
Stop. He needed to do this. He was one of them now, but he could at least do one last nice thing. Protect Malo. Send him away.
"I didn't get any mail." He hissed back. It was very clear he could speak better then he could the last time they spent time together. He was stronger, smarter, and broken. "You shouldn't have come here. We both know you hate it here." He stopped, gulping. His voice shook at the end, his eyes flinched. He didn't want to say this.... but the last thing to escape his mouth was:
"And I don't want you here."
That was true, so very true. He didn't want Malo here, but for different reasons. He wanted Malo away from this dangerous place, and he didn't want the boy to discover what he was. He wanted to hide, he wanted to curl into himself and hide. He wanted to vanish.

Malo felt his heart sank and he looked at his feet. He had been told that by lots of people- the guards, Preston, the carnies at clubs, Jace...but it stung coming from a friend.
Not getting any mail he could forgive...the part about him hating spades was true, but the last blow was crushing. "But...I like you. I'd come to the middle of a lava pit to find you." He could usually laugh and smile this sort of thing off, but today it was seeming very difficult.
"Zale..." He stepped closer and put a hand on his arm. "Zale, if I did something, or said something to make you unhappy, then I'm sorry." He bit his lip and rubbed Zale's arm a few times. "I'm not smart enough to realize what I've done but i'm ignorant like that. Please don't be mad at me anymore. I..I wanted to come and play pranks with you..or puppets. We said we would. Remember?"

Zale flinched as he was touched, and that was what sent him over the edge. Crying he could have dealt with. Anger, too. However the touch sent memories through him, memories of his first friend. Of how comforting Malo always was. How he depended on him during the trip through all the factions...
His heart hammered, and suddenly his head hurt. He was afraid. He didn't want to be touched, he didn't want to be cared about! He didn't deserve it! The touch drove him over, and he recoiled violently. He slammed into a stall, falling over and dropping the bundle. His eyes were wild as he stood, forgetting the weapon for Sully. All he wanted was to run.
"Leave me alone! Don't touch me!" He snapped, and then he ran. He darted away from Malo and the eyes that approved of the little delegate. He darted and sped, slipping through alleys and hopping over fences. It took minutes, but eventually when he found a hollow log in a barren field he crawled right into it, legs curling into his chest.
Even when a monster, he always ran into the same small places to hide.

Malo blinked as the other yelled at him and ran off into the crowd. He frowned, then picked up the parcel and went to hurry after him, floating above the crowds. But Zale had been trained in speed and Malo soon lost him...so he headed for the sky.
There. Far, far below, he saw the green tail just scramble into a log. He approached slowly, putting the parcel on the ground and pulling a hand puppet onto his wrist. Floating to the log, he put the puppet over the entrance hole and made the cute bird speak.
"Whatcha' doing in this log, friend? This ain't no place for someone as wonderful as yourself."

He was trying to suffocate himself in his thoughts. He was going to never leave this log, which meant he'd never have to face the monster he was, or the people making him into one. Perhaps he could just wither away in here.
...... Then Malo made that damn bird speak.
He curled tighter into himself, ignoring the other. Why the hell couldn't Malo take a hint?! Why was he tormenting him?! Was he being punished? He couldn't help what was happening, and he couldn't.... he couldn't stop it. All he wanted was to protect those he cared for, and Malo was refusing to listen!
Maybe if he just rotted here he could be alone? The bird... his head tilted back enough to give his arm room to swat the bird away from the log, curling back into himself.

Malo didn't understand. He didn't know why his friend was acting like this and it made him very very sad. The puppet didn't work and now it was laying in the mud a few feet away. He slid off the log and stared sadly into it, seeing how upset his friend was. He...wanted to make his friends happy, but this was tearing him apart.
"Your package is over there." He mumbled, frowning as fog began to roll in. "You shouldn't stay here. You'll get lost."
He walked over to the puppet and picked it up, lightly dusting it off. "I don't know what's happened, Zale...but I wish you'd tell me. I've missed you a lot...but if you want me to go, I will. There's...not much point in staying."
He gave one last look at the log, hoping the other would come running out, telling him it was all a joke.

He curled further into himself as Malo continued to speak, hands reaching up to cover his ears. He wanted to scream. His little socks were dirty, he was cold, and his mind was screaming. Finally, Malo was beginning to leave, or sounded like it.
That was all he needed.
Yet, he knew he should make sure the other never came back. He should make sure he was gone forever. His voice cracked and choked, shaking violently as he spoke: "It's for your own good. Don't ever come back." He called out after Malo, curling violently into himself until he swore his stomach would explode by how his knees pressed into it.
At least he was protecting Malo, even if he was shoving away his closest friend.

He sighed as the log spoke to him, the fog gobbling him up as he floated away. "No problem...fine. Whatever, Zale. You know where to find me if you stop being so angry with me." He dropped the puppet on the parcel and looked over his shoulder, tears in his eyes.
"Its not like I LIKE like you or anything." He took off into the air, heading home where he opened all the paddocks to the animal fields and then locked them shut once they were out. But even watching the farm hands struggle to get their herds under control or seperated did not bring a smile to his pale face.
