If you don't know how to play Dungeons and Dragons, that's fine. We're going to be using a relatively chewy game design (that is, not very much rolling), but be certain to read this entire post because it will be covering what you need to know.
Statistics
In this game there will be four statistics: Health, Magic, Defense, and Damage.
Health is the amount of damage you can take before you are officially kicking the bucket.
Magic is the amount of arcane energy you can manipulate before having to meditate to recover.
Defense determines how much of a beating you can take before you take damage.
And finally Damage determines how well you can beat up the bad guys.
Intro Plot (to give you an idea)
After waking up on the floor of The Dragon's Panties Tavern with the worlds largest hang over, you and your adventure buddies realize something is amiss upon stepping out the door and seeing no one in the entire town.
Character Information
Please copy/paste the following character sheet so I know who will be playing:
Character Name:
Age:
Hair/Eye/Skin color:
Race:
Class:
Special Attributes:
Favorite Alcohol:
Worst Fear:
Name, Age, and Color can be anything you'd like so long as you can give a good reason for anything outlandish.
Races are Human, Dwarf, Elf, or Gnome. Dwarves and Gnomes can see in the dark, but cannot swim. Elves and Humans can swim, but they cannot see in the dark.
Classes are Warrior (fighter), Mage (magic), Archer, or Rogue (thief). Only a Mage can use major magic, only an Archer can use a bow, and only a Rogue can sneak and steal.
Special Attributes is for your backstory, whatever you'd like as long as it will fit with the initial plot.
Favorite alcohol and worst fear are essential. Some alcohols to consider would be Dwarven Stout, Elven Leafwine, Gnomish Gutrot, or any other ales and spirits.
Game Basics
This type of game runs a bit differently than most games seen on Gaia. What I mean by this is that instead of running to class and seeing your demon master there and asking that they hold your coco kitty while you compete in the dance competition, there will be a GM (Game Master). This is the person who plays all of the non-players, gives the outcomes of actions, describes the world, and is essentially everything else. That will be my job. So if you would like to complete something, you would have to put in a command. An example of this would look like:
GM: So the elf says: "I don't care if your father is the DRAGONLORD, I can't let you past".
Player 1: I stab him. *rolls a die for attack and gets a 19*
GM: You stab him. He dies exploding into a cloud of happy confetti.
Player 2: "Great. That was the only elvish guide for 100 miles. Can you stop stabbing people?" *facepalm*
Player 1: Can I use magic to resurrect him?
GM: Yes, but the cost is great.
Player 1: How great?
GM: Ten gold, 2 magic, a handful of elf confetti, and the worst of it: you'll have to say sorry.
Player 1: Yeah, I'd hate to do that. "Well, we're gonna hafta hoof it."
You get the point. If at any point you think you may need to ask about something or someone, post it in a question. Stars (**) are used for character actions, quotes ("") will be used for character words, and anything else will be considered the player's statement.
Go Forth and Character Create!
I'm really looking forward to GMing this for you guys. Please post the character sheets and I'll get you your stats for your class. We'll go over what to roll and when once we have at least three people and we're ready to start.
