Ukarimu was at a bit of a loss. He really liked Caritas, but she seemed to want to move so quickly. Here, though it seemed like marriage wasn't the most ultimate of TIED FOREVER feeling, it was still very very serious, and even moreso for a midwife in the pride. What was he even feeling?
He wandered around with members of his own class, wanting to feel more relaxed and laid back than when he went to see Caritas. Some lions in the upper classes certainly relished in their rank, and he still didn't quite see why it was such a big deal. Perhaps it was the belief that nothing could happen to them when the Great Lion watched over them so well. Didn't they realize that they were still mortal? At least Caritas had a good head on her shoulders. A pretty one at that...
Mahtab was wandering around, happy as he just left visiting his parents. It was one of those love stories that only he could dream of, regardless of how some of the older pride members felt about it. Why not be with the one you love? Surely the Great Lion could agree with that, regardless of their rank. There was nothing wrong following your heart. He just hadn't yet found the other half that fit his own heart so well. One day he would. There were always a few new rogues joining, and a bit of hope always entered the pride with them.
Ukarimu almost bumped into Mahtab, not realizing that he was deep in thought until he nearly ran into the brown lion. "Whoops, sorry..."
"No problem," Mahtab waved off the black lion with a chuckle. "Lost in though, huh? That seems to be a common issue going on with some males lately..." One day he'd be like that. It was a little....girl-like to want love, but he couldn't help himself. He did talk with his parents as often as he could, and they always seemed happy, even as slaves. They had each other.
"Erm, I guess you could say that. Wait...males? What's going on?" Did he miss something? He knew that he was always a little more slow on the uptake since he wasn't born here, but there were times when he felt like some things should be more obvious....like the brown male's words.
"Well, it seems like there's a lot of couples in the air. Some cubs being born. Things that you don't quite expect, and us males seem to handle it a little more...oddly? than the women-folk," Mahtab laughed.
Love? Really? "What...how....I didn't realize this."
"Really, then perhaps you don't realize that you're in love yourself. I swear, sometimes you gotta hurry or the lady that you fancy is going to get swept off her paws and taken in by another male. Then you'll have to nurse a broken heart for a while, and no one likes to be around a mopey lion."
Ukarimu looked a little alarmed. "Does...that really happen?" He knew that divorce was an option, to a point. It wasn't looked at well, and he sort of had to agree. Though he was raised by a single mother, he still thought that if something as important as marriage was an option for him, he wanted to make it a one-time deal. For sure. Would Caritas really just....brush him off like that?
"Oh, yeah." Mahtab's brow raised. "It seems like you've got some thinking to do, if you're getting to that stage in your relationship. You don't want to be one of those full of regret if you wait too long. Just make sure that you show her you're really serious, and that you mean every word you say. Just fluffing it off isn't going to work. I swear, the Great Lion likes to make sure that the smart females are born here. I haven't done too much dating, but there are times where it seems easier to be single than to find myself always wrong."
Ukarimu nodded. "Well, I was raised by my mother with a sister, so I've learned how wrong I've been my entire life," he chuckled. "That part I wouldn't mind so much but....to see her leave me if I took too long? Its painful on two different counts. Why wouldn't she wait, but why would she just throw everything away too? Hnng....females are tricky, and I thought I knew them well!"
Mahtab shook his head. "Nah, you'll never be able to figure them out. But if you've got a lady you like, you'd better tell her that you want to get married. Sometimes couples move a little too fast, but then there's a lot of regret when they don't move fast enough. I know you're fairly new, but my parents sort of went through that situation. Even though my father went from high class to low class, I know he has no regrets for what he did, even if it did cause a stir. They just...waited too long, and he had to divorce his first wife for it to happen."
"Oh..." That....was a summed up version of a story, Ukarimu guessed, but it certainly underlined the fact that it was important to tell Caritas. He was just feeling a bit scared about the whole situation. Well, he could tell her that he was nervous, and she'd probably laugh at him anyway. She'd probably be happy too. Maybe if he even found a gift for her too, that could help.
"Gonna go tell her?" Mahtab grinned. "It is clearly written on your face that that is what you're thinking of doing. Go on, go do it! You can thank me later if we go hunting together."
Ukarimu blinked....was he really ready to do that? He supposed so. "Sure, I'll leave you now. Thanks, man!" He turned and trotted off to go find Caritas, hoping that she would be somewhat easy to find. Well, if there were cubs around, perhaps she'd be around them. Hopefully she would take the news and promise he offered her well! Besides, he was ready to take the next step in their relationship, and figured that she'd be ready too.
