A Promise Kept (Mercy, Charulekha,Bangil)

It had taken a while for Mercy to come to terms with her current journey. She was alone for the first time since she had emerged from her basket and though she had struggled with this for the first few days she had managed to come to terms with it and maybe even..enjoy her trip a little bit.

Although she knew that Ironforge was waiting for her the pale mare had made a promise to Jarita and it was one she intended to keep. Jarita might have decided to raise her foals with the Little Meadow Herd but she was close to her family and news of the foals arrival would be well received. Since Mercy had been traveling in that direction anyways she had promised to stop by and not only tell Jarita's mother and best friend about the foals..but provide them with instruction on how to find the Little Meadow Herd in case they desired to visit - it would be a while after all before the foals were capable of making such a journey - although no doubt Falconwing would certainly try.

Turning her head this way and that Mercy studied the area - it seemed to be as Jarita had described and she was pretty sure that she was in the right location - now she just had to find the mare's family. It should be to hard Jarita had assured her - her mother rarely strayed all that far from home anymore.

As luck would have it it seemed that Char's daughter knew her quite well - the black and purple mare was indeed close to her typical range, in face she had seen the pale mare land and come to investigate. Peering through the bushes Char watched as the Alicorn looked about as thought she was trying to figure out if she was in the right place or not.

She did not seem outwardly dangerous and while Char knew that outward appearances were not always as they seem she was none the less the type to offer help if it was needed and a possibly lost mare was certainly included in that category. "What do you think?" She asked the brown mare beside her "Shall we ask if she requires assistance?"

"I expect so" Bangil responded after a few moments of watching the mare "She seem's harmless enough and anyways we outnumber her" She pointed out after a few moments. When she wasn't out exploring the brown mare was often in the company of Jarita's family - they weren't her family by blood but they might as well be considering how much time she had spent with them in the company of her currently elsewhere best friend.

Since they seemed to be of the same mindset Bangil did not wait for the older mares response but stepped forward first knowing that the older mare would shortly follow "Hello" She greeted Mercy "You look like you might be looking for something..can we help you?" She offered in a sincere enough tone - thought common sense kept her cautious enough not to approach to closely until she knew for sure that this stranger meant no harm.

When Bangil stepped forward to greet and offer their help, Char was quick to follow, offering a warm look of her own to help put the strange mare at ease - if she was indeed lost well, that could be an unsettling thing and Char being the motherly type that she was did not like to distress the young overly much.

"Sorry if we startled you coming out of no where like that" She apologized for the brown mares sudden appearance "My name is Charulekha..though most just call me Char - and this is Bangil" She introduced the other mare "As my friend say's we are happy to help if your lost" Stopping beside her brown companion she too watched the mare carefully thought she was careful to keep a warm look on her face in order to keep from being to intimidating.

Mercy jumped a little bit as the two mare's seemed to come out of no where - she really had to learn to pay more attention to her surroundings now that she was out of the safety of her herdlands. Recovering from her shock once the two mares had made their intention's known Mercy gave a slight laugh.

"Actually..I think you've helped me already" She told them after Char had given their names - even without the names Mercy thought she might have guessed that these were the two she was looking for, there was no doubting that Char was Jarita's mother - the similarities were just far to glaring and Bangil with her bone headpiece was not hard to identify either.

"Jarita sent me to find the two of you and give some new's" She told them in a pleased tone - she had expected it to take far longer then this to find the other mares family.

At the mention of her best friend's name Bangil's ear's pricked forward in curiosity "You know Jarita?" She asked in excitement. It had been a rather long time since she had managed to catch up with her childhood friend and trotting forward a few more paces she couldn't help the flood of questions that flew from her maw.

"How is she? Is she still with Eversong? Is she coming back this way soon?" Pausing to catch her breath the brown mare suddenly seemed to realize that she might be overwhelming the strange mare with her questions and managed to quiet herself though she was practically dancing in place at the thought of news about her friend. "I'm sorry " She told the mare "You must have traveled for quite a while..why don't you come and have a rest before you tell us why you've come" She managed to conclude politely though the thought of waiting to hear this news was all but impossible to bare.

Char too was excited to hear her daughters name spoken - it had been a while since she had heard of the mare. Still she nosed Bangil into silence before the other mare rattled off even more questions and smiled graciously at Mercy even as Bangil seemed to remember her manners and invite the other mare to come and rest. "Yes.you must forgive us our rudeness - it has simply been a while since we heard of Jarita and we were starting to worry" The older mare explained.

"As Bangil invited, please..follow us back to our home and rest for a while while you tell us whatever it is you have come to tell" Motioning with her muzzle Char pointed back down the almost hidden pathway she and Bangil had been traveling on. "It is not a very long journey" She further promised the mare, having spotted perhaps a few signs of travel fatigue on the other.

Mercy had always known that Jarita had a family somewhere - the black mare had always spoken of them fondly - but had she not known of the love between them before then she certainly did now. It was nice to see the way the others faces lit up, the way the questions erupted as they eagerly searched for news of their friend. And yet despite all that they attempted to be good hostess' - Jarita it seemed had not fallen far from the proverbial tree, her mother seemed to be much like her - both in looks and according to Mercy's initial impression in temperament.

"That is very kind" Mercy responded with a slight dip of her head "I am quite tired - but I can put you a bit as ease while we go She added as she stated along the pathway with the other mares. "Jarita is quite fine - more then fine actually..."

A great weight lifted off of Bangil's shoulders at the other mare's words - it was a weight she hadn't even realized she had been carrying until it was gone. Although Jarita was grown and more then capable of taking care of herself - especially since she was always with Eversong, Bangil tended to worry about her a little bit - but hey that's what friends were for right?

"why didn't she come back to visit herself?" She asked suddenly - despite the face that she had told herself to wait until they were back at Char's home and Mercy had rested. Although the tan and pink mare had assured them that Jarita was fine Bangil found it odd that she had sent a messenger with the news..why not just come herself? Perhaps she was fine but had been wounded..or perhaps she was healthy but trapped..Bangil suddenly realized that there were a great many things that could happen where you were technically fine..but not in a good situation.

"I'm sure that there is a very reasonable explaination" Char interjected before Mercy could answer the other mare's question. Shooting the brown mare a warning look before they continued on. They had agreed to let the stranger rest before tormenting her with questions and char meant to keep their word - it was rude to badger someone who had obviously traveled so far just to tell them something. That was not to say of course that it was easy for Char to refrain from asking question's herself - this was news of her daughter after all and Char was more then anxious to find out what was happening with her.

It wasn't long before they reached the family home and she motioned to a nice shady place where Mercy could rest "Bangil will gather some sweet grass and clover for us - perhaps she might even find some windblown apples..by the time that is finished you should be nicely rested" Char told their guest, shooing her over to the shady area with a no argument look on her face for both of the others.

Bangil sighed inwardly as Char chastised her - she had expected the older mare to do so..but had rather hoped that Mercy might answer before Char got the chance to interrupt. "Of course" She replied, giving up for now to follow quietly along behind the other two.

Of course once they got to the small clearing that Char called home she opened her mouth to argue the chore she had been given - certainly that could wait until they found some answer's, but Char had a look on her face that was clearly not to be trifled with and she quickly shut her mouth and without a word stomped off to do as she had been asked. She loved Jarita's family she really did - but once in a while their obsession with being proper and right was more then a little bit annoying.

Thankfully Bangil knew the area well and having put her mind to it was able to quickly collect the things she had been asked to find and return with them to the clearing, where she portioned them out and then with a nod from Char..looked expectantly at the stranger.

Although Mercy would have been willing to tell both Char and Bangil why she had come before eating and resting she was also more then willing to bask a little bit in the company of others - her trip so far had been horribly lonely and while she was starting to come to terms with traveling and being alone it was still something that caused her a little bit of anxiety... especially at night. It was nice to be in the company of others again.

However as nice as it was to be with others Mercy also knew that she couldn't spend to long here - she had already left late and was running the risk of not meeting Ironforge on time. Oh well..she supposed that he would just have to understand - and in any case she had some important information to tell these two. "She has a very good reason" She assured the other mare once they were assembled and waiting "You see..her and Eversong have been coming to visit my family for some time now and on one of their visits...Jarita found out she was with child..." She started to explain the entire tale, intending to finish with directions to her home herd so that the two mares could go and visit if they wish. It was a bit of a long story..and would likely take well into the night to get through, but Mercy was willing to spend the time making sure she got it exactly right.
