Walking to the city from the surrounding wild lands, the only public entrance is the City Gate which at one time was a very formidabble sight. A large work of well crafted metals and wood. These walls were crafted by hand, the stone blocks cut with Dwarven steel. They were placed by the strength of these resilient people to keep intruders out of their fair city. No one would think of attacking these well made walls created by Dwarven crafters and architects. It should've been near impossible to take down. Unfortunately eventually even a Dwarven made gate and the fierce warriors defending fall from inside attacks by demons.
After all a gate and the surrounding walls are only good for keeping enemies out, it does no good when they are already inside the city walls. The only thing it did was prevent the fearful people from escaping when the first attack hit. The gate is a far cry from what it once was, the fierce warriors don't defend it anymore, now they do what they can to fight back the demons and their numbers are lowering every day. Now commoners, farmers and women guard the gate with clumsy bows and rough crossbows. The walls are thinning and holes range from the size of a squirrel to that of a small child all around it. The holes make it easy for any roving bandits to climb the walls and steal what little the remaining citizens have.
