Though Remarque had long since drifted into more dangerous territory while gathering energy, that did not prevent him from sometimes wandering back to the starting point. The park was always a good place to start out if you were intent on gathering energy; the mirrors were discrete enough that you didn’t have to worry about someone finding your entrance into the area, and sometimes a little walk was a good warm up for the evening.
It was rarely, anymore, that Remarque would come gather energy from homeless individuals; it wasn’t just because he had a moral compass and felt bad for the already impoverished individuals, but a combination of sympathy and boredom. The alcoholic individuals he met up with were occasionally interesting—when they thought to fight or attack or insult his attire, but even then, by the time Remarque found most of them, they were already sleeping.
They made for easy targets in such a situation, so sometimes he couldn’t resist and let a Mirror Wraith go wild as they sapped a little extra energy from the sleepers, however Remarque’s favorite targets were the dangerous ones.
Not Senshi; he’d never actually drained a Senshi or a knight. It wasn’t out of fear that he couldn’t do it, but rather he was actually very overprotective of his mirror wraiths.
His targets, more often than not, consisted of criminals, or just obnoxious morons he just so happened to cross paths with. He liked the challenge that came with people who knew they were breaking the law—that always made them more on edge, made them more dangerous. Still never really a challenge, though; the power that came with being a Dark Mirror Senshi was unrivalled by a mere civilian.
He had thought he was alone, until he picked up a very familiar tingling sensation on his radar and a little grin curled onto his face. He wasn’t too terribly far, though sensing a Dark Mirror Senshi in the area gave him the motivation to abandon any idea of taking a gentle stroll before gathering energy; he picked up the pace and began making his way towards the energy signature.

Where some of her allies had long since abandoned the park in search of bigger and badder prey, Navi still found herself frequenting the familiar trails and fields more often then not. Not so much for hunting anymore, but out of habit. So much had happened within the fenced in sanctuary of the city park that she found herself returning to it time and time again to simply wander. This didn't mean she ignored the odd thug or lowlife that was unfortunate enough to threaten the recent peace, but they were few and far between these days. She was perched at one of her usual haunts when she felt the pull of familiar aura on the edge of her senses, and she turned automatically to look off in the direction the feeling was coming from despite knowing full well it was too far out for her to see the source. Her heels made a soft smacking sound as she dropped from the tree she'd been sitting in, and although she could feel him getting closer, Navi moved so she would meet him half way. Last she had known Leto was the only Eternal among them, but clearly that wasn't the case anymore. She could feel Remarque's powers tingling along her skin as she neared him. It reminded her of Chaonis, not in flavor, but in raw potential. "Someone's moving up in the world. Congratulations are in order I think."

Though Remarque hadn’t known who he expected to show up, he had been pleased to find Navi, regardless. “Navi,” he greeted, complacent smile planted on his lips. It was good to see a familiar face. He wasn’t as close to Navi as his girlfriend was, though that didn’t mean he wasn’t happy to see her. “Thank you,” he said of her mention of congratulations, and while he should have taken the moment to bask in all that he had accomplished, he just gave her a look over. “Glad to see you still in one piece. Haven’t heard from you in a while. How’s life been treating you?”
Though Remarque had been tending to his duties in the Dark Mirror Court, he had been, perhaps, a bit distracted from the social aspect. It wasn’t that he hadn’t kept his eyes open for the other Dark Mirror Senshi, simply that he had not actively sought them out. It was refreshing, even a relief, to see the redhead in front of him.

An answering smile blossomed along pink lips, as Remarque stopped before her. He wasn't a teammate she saw all that often, but regardless, she considered him family, and she was happy to see him. Gladder still that he cared enough to comment on her looking well and ask how she'd been doing as of late. "Not bad. I suppose I can't complain." Things had been stressful after she'd found Virtus bleeding on her floor after the brutal beating he'd received from Ate, but she'd confronted the Senshi of Pollution since then, and they were.. Maybe not good, but they were working on it. Curiously she wondered if he, or any of the others save Leto, had heard about what happened, but she didn't ask. At least not yet. Maybe later. "How've you been keeping?" Like him, the petite senshi had been slack in keeping up contact with her teammates. She wasn't avoiding them, not by any means, she just didn't happen upon them often, and didn't go actively searching for them. Generally, it was the white mooners she was interested in converting she bothered to go looking for.

"Pre-tty well," Remarque answered simply enough; what did he have to complain about? He had no rivals, no threats. He was enjoying working for the Dark Mirror Court—enjoyed the power and freedom it gave him. "If not a bit bored," he confessed, hands on his hips as he glanced out across the park. He could sense nothing out of the ordinary, though it was old habits that drove him to be aware of his surroundings. "Not much seems to have happened recently. I can't tell if it's a good or bad thing, either." On one hand, he hadn't had to deal with any pesky knights. On the other hand, sans draining energy he was feeling vaguely useless.
Not that Remarque would ever think himself to be uselesss. If there weren't White Moon Senshi to save, he'd just dedicate himself to gather more energy. Even if it was boring as ********. "You know anything about that?" he prompted; he assumed that living with Leto would leave the girl privy to all the most current happenings going on with both the Dark Mirror Court and the Negaverse—and if Leto had delivered Navi any news, he was all ears.

The soft smile the ginger was wearing grew at his answer, tugging at the corners of her lips. "That's actually an enviable problem, wish I could say I was bored." Stressed, excited, nervous, angry? All of the above, but never bored. Perhaps she was just lucky that things came to her, instead of her having to go out and hunt. Oh ya, Navi was counting her blessings. He was right though, things had seemed to be quieting down a little, in a manner of speaking. Her own complicated affairs aside, she hadn't been running into quite as many order aligned soldiers as she used to. Now that he mentioned it, it did make her wonder if that was a good thing or not. "Nothing yet, but you're right, I've noticed it too." Slender arms crossed, and she tapped the two exposed nails of her right hand against the crook of her elbow. "I'll ask Leto, maybe she knows something, and if not, maybe she can see if Ares does." Delicate pink lips pursed thoughtfully, then smoothed out once again after a moment, hazel eyes jumping back up to his face. "I'm not sure if you would know better then I would, but how're we all doing on gaining more members of the court?" She hadn't heard much lately, not since Vitus had awakened, but that didn't mean things weren't happening. Navi had been busy lately, it's perfectly likely she may have missed out on hearing about a new teammate if one had showed up.

It comforted Remarque to know that Navi could simply ask Leto—who in turn could just ask Ares, though he was rather disappointed that Navi didn't just know something right off the bat. "Gaining members?" he prompted, though it was obviously rhetorical. He didn't have to strain for too long to reflect on what new members he knew; he'd only met one since Virtus. "Mimistrobell, she's newish. But the only one I've run across. Senshi of Nightshade. She's still working on coming into her own, but so far so good. If there are any others past Virtus, though, then I don't know. I don't know if Ares is hoarding them all or of Leto's run out to give gives a bunch of newbies a few good training sessions before unleashing them out here or introducing us."
He paused though—and considered the White Moon senshi that hey had available to them. "…But, then again. Maybe there's just not been anyone available for Ares. I guess it's hard to try and help them when they're all hiding."
Still, he'd have much rather there been more White Moon senshi. Gathering energy was one thing, but it didn't feel like he was able to do much with the energy. He was gathering for Ares—for her grand plan—but had yet to see anything really come of it. It wasn't as though he didn't have faith in the woman, just that he would have liked to see the fruits of their labor.
He'd have liked to know that something was coming out of all this work—something tangible and accessible. He had no concept of how much energy they had gathered—or how much they still needed to gather. He just knew that they could use all the help they could get—and any addition senshi Ares wanted to toss their way would have been greatly appreciated.
Shrugging of the thoughts, he looked to Navi. "I take that to mean that you haven't gotten acquainted with anyone new? —What about senshi, do you know of any that are at least close to being swayed?"

Pale lips pursed as Remarque told her about one of their newest members. It wasn't one Navi had personally met yet, but frankly, that wasn't surprising. Aside from dear Virtus, the only newbie Navi knew about was Chariklo. "I don't think anyones hoarding them." She chuckled, tucking a ginger curl behind her ear before shrugging. "I know there's at least one more. A Chariklo, Senshi of Seagulls. I haven't spent much time with her at all, only met her through Leto very briefly." Things had been very busy lately, or at least that's how it seemed to be. Seldom were both girls home as of late, and it was very easy for information, even important news, to be a little late on delivery. If anything bad had been happening though, Navi was certain they'd all know about it. To his theory she offered another shrug, then frowned as he asked about any potential white senshi that were likely to be swayed. She did know one, but right that moment she was reluctant to name them. Specially after what the senshi in question had done to a member of their team. "I don't know how close, but there are a small handful that are at least curious. I don't want to scare them off being pushy, so for now I'm just answering questions as best I can and being very subtle with my guiding." Her lips twitched, almost a smile. "Come off too heavy handed, and they'll just think I'm trying to force them into something of brainwash them." "How about you? Anyone you've got your sights set on?" She was curious if any of her fellow dark senshi were as focused on luring more soldiers to the mirror as she was.

Seagulls? Well, damn, if that wasn't an odd sphere to have. Still, any new member was as good as the next; Remarque was just glad that Ares had been able to save someone before the White Moon managed to completely ruin them. The mention of Leto interested Remarque; he was glad someone had seen her.
In response to the girl, Remarque just shrugged; his eyes were still scanning the trees. "I suppose I've spoken to a fair share. Some seem a little more interested than others. Albireo—the one Leto doesn't like much? —She seems to be having a very difficult time with her position in the White Moon. I don't know how long she'll last with them, but at this rate, I can't imagine she'll stay with them unless they get their act together."
He clucked his tongue in thought. "Talked to a few who seemed open minded, but no one was jumping through mirrors with me. Well. There was Ate," he rolled his eyes and tilted just slightly so he could watch Navi's face, "who had been informing me how much she'd enjoyed using Virtus as a punching bag. She was just telling me how much she'd wanted to kill him. Can't quite remember what I said," —a lie, he remembered exactly what words had transpired between the two of them— "but she ran off screaming something about being ditching the White Moon and being destined for a greater cause. Virtus, though." He paused a bit, watching her expression. "…He took a pretty hard beating. You let him run around without a chaperone?"

Navi managed not to flinch at the mention of Alberio's name. It seemed Remarque was also out of the loop on Leto having made nice with the other senshi. She'd run into the swan when they'd both been stuck as cats, and Navi had tried to drown the other girl as pay back for what had happened to Leto. Little did she know her teammate had managed to make peace with Alberio not long before their fated meeting as cats. Navi still felt bad about it, and was sure she'd screwed up whatever alliance Leto had formed with her. "I'm not sure if Alberio would join us.." She said softly, though that train of thought ended abruptly at the mention of Ate. Hazel eyes widened, then promptly narrowed on Remarque as he made mention of Ate's attack on Virtus. He was watching her, gauging her reaction. Even knowing what he was doing she wouldn't disappoint. It was easy to see the event still bothered Navi. She flinched when he repeated Ate's words, eyes dropping to the ground between them as her shoulders tensed, fingers curling at her side. "I don't make a habit of it, no." She sounded defensive. "I took care of that," she answered plainly, not that he'd asked, but she didn't much like the subject they were on. "And Virtus is going through some additional training before going off on his own again." It really didn't help that the poor boy had nothing but supportive magic, but even if his powers had been offensive, she didn't see them being much use. A gun was only effective if you were willing to use it.

Her reaction pleased Remarque, though he attempted—just barely—not to look so smug. Virtus getting his a** handed to him was nothing to be proud of, but that Navi understood the situation and was taking it to heart pleased him. She wasn't brushing it off—which meant she was probably making good of whatever time she spent with Virtus. He needed all the training he could get, and anyone who had as much looked at the man would know that.
"Glad to hear you've got his back. I tried teaching him to throw a punch, but a lot of good that did," he said, very nearly rolling his eyes. Virtus tried—tried his damnedest—but his progress was minimal and he had the ferocity of freshly blossomed flower. "You know," he noted, lips pursed tightly in thought. "…I'll never understand the senshi of the White Moon. I don't know how many times I've been accused of being a menace, but I don't think I've ever really considered murder."
…It was a bit of a stretch. Remarque had taken up the role of smooth talker in recent months, but he'd had a very fine streak of violence stemming from his high school years. He'd never killed someone, but he'd beaten them half to death. For as merciless as he could be in the ring, he was even more so in a street fight.
And yet, he hadn't gone to such extremes in dealing with senshi or knights. No, he played it safe—tried his hand to win them over, sweet talk them. A lot of good that did Virtus, though.
"…Especially the murder of someone as—" there was no nice way to put it "—harmless as Virtus. I wonder if Ares is too optimistic about the majority of them."

Navi wasn't so happy to have run into her fellow Dark Mirror Senshi anymore, not with the satisfied look on his face at her reaction to Virtus' having gotten brutalized. She already felt bad enough, thank you, she didn't need any help from her team mates. It wasn't strictly her fault, what had happened to the poor guy. She'd taken it upon herself to give him extra training, but she wasn't officially in charge of him. Had any of the other's Leto excluded, even bothered to give Virtus much time before his meet up with Ate? If the girl had been a little more defensive she'd have actually asked, but instead she let it all go. As Remarque commented on the hypocrisy of the White Moon Navi felt her lip curl bitterly. She'd been dubbed a menace and worse by nearly every agent of Order she'd met, and yet 80% of the time, it was them that threw the first punch. "They're all ignorant fools." As far as murder was concerned, there was only a tiny few she'd ever even considered snuffing out, and in her mind it was more then justified after what she'd been through. Calemot, Leo, Chronos.. It was no great secret Navi wasn't fond of knights. So far as she knew they served no purpose to her or her court, but the senshi of the zodiac.. She held them personally responsible for the lose of her family as well as the trauma of having been forced to watch her friends die in front of her in horrible ways. She was lost in her own thoughts, and only snapped out of it when Virtus' name was mentioned again. It took a second to recount what exactly Remarque had said, but after she merely shrugged. "It's not our place to say." She frowned thoughtfully before continuing. "I don't think even she has control over the civilians that can be awakened into our court. If she'd had a real choice, do you honestly think she'd have taken Virtus?" Navi adored the young man, but she knew all too well what his failings were.

Remarque glanced in Navi's direction. "…Not our place to say?" he prompted after a short moment. "Do you really feel that way, then?" Remarque didn't have the best relationship with Ares—not because they didn't get along, but just because he didn't seem to have much interaction with the leader of the Court. It probably wasn't her fault—maintaining Mirrorspace seemed to take up most of her time.
But for Navi to feel like it wasn't her place to say? Well, hell—if he didn't have something to say about that. For as much as he'd like to remain on the topic of who Ares had faith in, he wondered if Navi had that much faith in her. "…Because. Maybe it's just me, but there's no place where it's not my place to say."
He had opinions. And was relatively vocal about them.
While he respected Ares and trusted her word, why should they not be allowed to have their say? For ******** sake, he had a lot of things he should be saying.
He'd refrained, though—in favor of being a good little soldier. But it was hard to say if that would last. He'd served that Court but wasn't sure where it was going. He wa waiting for guidance that didn't seem to be quick in coming. He wanted to know that the energy he'd given—the time he'd offered, the blood he'd shed—he just wanted to know that it was going somewhere.
Neither was there an abundance of allies, nor had they made any progress in eradicating the threats to their cause. Nor were they any closer to achieving Ares master plan—whatever that really was. For the most part, he didn't mind. He got to flaunt his power, got to put people in their place, got to fight for something bigger than he was. Sometimes, though—in the late hours of the night, when he was staring as his ceiling and trying to get to sleep—he wondered. He questioned. He doubted.
All he wanted was to have everything they had put into the Court amount to something. He wanted to see something come of it. He wanted to know that by the end of it, what happened to Virtus was going to be worth it.

Remarque's tone earned him a surprised look before ginger brows sank low to crease over the bridge of her nose, pale eyes narrowing. "Do not misunderstand me," she interjected when she'd let him get to his point, her own tone picking up an edge. She didn't like how he was talking to her, eternal or otherwise, and she certainly didn't like the necessity of it. They were team mates, Ares was their queen, and while Navi did indeed feel she had little place to question the actions of her queen, that had not been what she meant. "She doesn't pick us at random. If it were up to her, there would certainly be more of us. I was there with Virtus was awakened, and I saw Ares' doubt and hesitation. It didn't matter who Grant was, because that's not why he was picked." Lord knows no one would pick the poor boy as a soldier if they had a choice. "He had something inside him, same as you and me." Well, same as her.. She didn't know the details of Remarque's awakening. "It's not our place to say, because not even she can dictate who, or when, or where." Her arms crossed, and she's turned at some point so she wasn't looking at him. "And yes, I really feel that way. She saved my life, she gave me purpose, and she gave me power." Loyalty, thy name was Navi. "At least our queen is real and tangible, and not some fabled legend we're supposed to believe in and follow blindly. We see our Queen, interact with her, share holidays with her." Perhaps not all the time, but it was a hell of a lot more then the white moon could claim. All at once she stopped talking, as if realizing she'd been ranting at him. If he didn't have the same faith as her then it really wasn't her place to try to persuade him.

It was simple for Remarque to brush aside the blame of misunderstanding; if Navi didn't want her words to be taken the wrong way, she ought to have clarified so he didn't assume the worst. Her conversation on interacting with Ares was semi-valid to him. Yes, she was real and tangible, but his interaction with her had been limited. She might not be some fabled legend, but for all the time she spent in Mirrorspace, she might as well have been sometimes.
It was a bit critical, but Remarque was often harsh to judge. Ares was doing her job, and he gave her credit for that, but she was human the same as he. She could make mistakes when it came to awakening someone.
Was it her goal only to convert the useful senshi, after all? Or hadn't she been interested in saving all the senshi that she could? —Even the useless ones.
"I feel that you presume much," Remarque mused. "How do you know if she chooses at random or not? It almost seems a bit improper to assume how Ares works. I mean, unless you've asked her. I always just got the impression that she would take any ally she could get, though I suppose I'd be a bit of a hypocrite if I thought my assumption was any more valid than yours." Except, you know, it was, because it was his, and Remarque would never consider himself to be wrong.
"Though I give you points for that last bit. Yes, at least she is here. And we can consult her, interact with her. See her. That's what makes it easy to follow her, I think." He crossed his arms over his chest thoughtfully. "Anyone can put words into someone's mouth—the leader the White Moon is waiting for? She's not around to defend herself, not around to make a stand. Her words are malleable, her beliefs moldable. Anyone can say anything they want of her, and she isn't around to defend herself. Not like Ares. At least she cares enough to show up when she's trying to lead a revolution. But am I not supposed to have questions for her? Do you think it wrong of me to not to follow her blindly?" he asked, not in an offensive manner, just out of curiosity.
Remarque was not one to change. He was rooted in his beliefs and mannerisms, and when it came to certain things, he absolutely would not budge. Was Ares a bad leader? By no means. Was that alone supposed to make him follow her blindly?
He couldn't do that. He might not need to know everything, but he damn well would have liked to.
