Taryn wandered to the gate of the horsemen's encampment and looked around, taking in the foliage surrounding the base and the warm sun filtering through the leaves. She narrowed her eyes at the light and then finally turned to face into the camp. Rather than shove her hand through the bars and potentially spark some kind of battle, she simply called in to whomever was closest.
She had been hoping for a student this time around, really she had. The hope was that there would be some single someone who took the event seriously, who saw it as magical like she hoped to. It was her second year, she was different now. She wanted someone to see her as desirable, even for a moment, but Soren had dashed her hopes of a horseman ever considering a ghoul like her attractive. Even with hooves, she wasn't one of them, so even with her deep respect she was worth nothing. In the end, she had simply decided that she could abandon her date if he was a jerk and find someone else to spend her time with. Still, she'd have preferred to not have to.
A young horseman within the compound came to her, looking somewhat suspicious. He appeared to be... Death? Perhaps Conquest, she had never been to their island before its destruction. Hopefully it was the former.
"Hello," she offered, giving her kindest smile, "I'm from Amityville, I'm looking for Pich? He's a Death horseman."
The boil's eyes only narrowed. "What do you want him for?"
"We have a previous engagement," she nodded, keeping her smile plastered on her face. It wouldn't do to offend anybody now. There was a moment of brief hesitation on the boil's face, and then he nodded and turned away, leaving at his own leisurely pace. After a good dozen steps, he quickened to a jog. Taryn sighed. Please don't be like Soren...
Windham yapped at her feet, reminding her that he was indeed present, and she crouched to pat his head. His little nub wagged furiously, his tongue lolling.

Pich sat on his cot, working on his outfit for this... Prom that he had signed up for in what was surely a fit of madness. He had no idea what he'd been thinking when he'd filled out the deceptively innocent looking form, and now he was stuck. If it had just been the event, he simply would not have gone. No harm done. However, he'd been informed that he now had a date, some student ghoul. Taryn, he'd been told her name was. It would be unforgivably rude of him to abandon her, whatever his feelings on the matter. Her people had taken his in, even if she was no part of this, she deserved some consideration for it.
So lost in thought was he as he worked on the adornments for his outfit that he was quite startled at the knock that heralded a guest. "Hello? Come in." he called, confused. He had not been expecting anyone... A young boy, younger even than Pich appeared, opened the door only wide enough to stick his head in and inform Pich that he had a visitor at the gate to the reserve asking for him. He thanked the lad distractedly and set aside his things to go meet this mysterious visitor, P'theh following silently in his wake.
Upon reaching the gate, he was rather startled. Not only was it a strange student waiting for him, though in hindsight he should have expected as much since there was no reason for a clans-member to be waiting at the gate, but she seemed to be a mix of a number of creatures. Like another student he had once met, she had hooves, though hers were more reminiscent of a goat than a horse. And... was that a snake he saw behind her? Curiouser and curiouser. Perhaps this wouldn't be so bad after all. Even the small yappy creature that seemed to be associated with her was cute, though he hoped it didn't always make such noise.
He walked through the gate and gave a small but elegant bow. "You requested my presence? I am Pich." He had a guess as to her identity, but it would not do to assume, so he waited for her own introduction.

Taryn stood and gave a slight bow in return, working on the belief that their cultures were different and you should always give back what you got. She clasped her hands at her waist, looking a bit shocked, and Windham approached the gate, lowering his head to cautiously sniff at the other minipet on the other side. It smelled... different. What was this place?
The ghoul offered a smile and and brushed a lock of hair behind her ear.
"Hello, I'm Taryn. I'll be your, um... 'date' at prom," she said, and then giggled nervously, "Your escort." She leaned slightly to one side as she accentuated that word, grinning nervously. This was a horseman, she had to be polite... but there was a part of her that still considered this horseman a date. The rest of her saw this as a responsibility to show him the student culture and important events to them. Hopefully he wasn't like Soren. Hopefully he would see students as she saw horsemen, beings that were much different and could be learned-from.

P'theh began a low growl deep in his throat, causing Pich to scoop him up before his poorly-socialized pet could do anything more. The little death vaisel was getting better around others, but still had a ways to go. "Sorry, he is a bit feral still. P'theh was from... home, and had a rough transition." Pich pet the vaisel calmingly, murmuring softly to it. "He is better off the reserve, less territorial."
It is a pleasure to meet you, Taryn." He started to extend his hand, then remembered that a handshake did not have the same meaning as he was used to and turned it into a sort of awkward wave. This ghoul seemed almost as nervous as he was, though he hadn't thought it possible. "So... uh, how are you?" he asked lamely.

Windham's ears flattened against his head and, eye wide, he took a step or two back. Right, so you weren't supposed to sniff random minis. That was cool. Taryn gave the cycorgi a soft click of reassurance and he relaxed, peering quietly up at her. When a hand was offered, or almost-offered, the ghoul reached out to give it back as well, but... well, this was awkward. She simply put it back on her hip, brushing more hair that was not there behind her ear as it passed. her glance turned away to the side before she forced it to return.
"I'm, um. Well. Thank you," she nodded, offering another small smile. "Would you like to come outside? We could walk and talk a little."

"Oh. Good." He returned the smile. "A walk would be nice. I met P'theh out in the woods, you know." he offered in an attempt to make small talk. He really had no idea what student's talked about, though he was pretty sure a discussion on the finer points of chain mail would not be likely to hold her attention. "I was looking for some seeds, and he snatched one right as I was about to get it. Poor thing was so hungry."

Taryn nodded, gesturing for Pich to follow on a patch skirting the school grounds at a decent distance. She walked briskly, but remained within the pace of her companions and her nub-legged cycorgi. Windham continued at his master's feet, now more or less content to simply admire their surroundings and the occasional swarm of gnats.
"Windham was actually a 'prize' for completing a class," she responded, head canted slightly to one side as she thought, watching the ground before them. She turned to Pich again then and smiled softly. "I think it was less for us and more to get rid of a box of puppies, but he was my first minipet that doesn't live in a tank, so I might spoil him a little."
