Hobbies:
Rock collecting - Bear has been known to come home with his pockets full of small stones. Though this irritates his mother, his father finds it amusing, and even gifted him with a shelf to set them on. Bear places a few of them on the windowsills, rotating the rocks every week or so to be sure they all get 'sun-time.' When asked why he does this, Bear explains that sunlight is good for rocks.
Fairy-finding - All children play in the woods. Not all children spend hours upon hours hunting fairies. Equipped with one of his seeing stones (a rock with a hole in it, occurring naturally), Bear is absolutely certain that he'll find one someday.
Personality:
Bear is a fairly average for an eight year-old boy, if a bit on the softer side. He likes to run about, explore, and play with other children. While he's inquisitive and earnest, he has a passive personality and is prone to bouts of insecurity. Bear practices his magic regularly by tending to the plants in his mother's garden and easing minor pains. It genuinely upsets him when his magic is written off as a 'green thumb' or coincidence. Fortunately, his younger siblings (with the exception of Leland, who is far too logical to believe in magic) have absolute faith in their brother's talents.
Bear doesn't know that his bond with Ammy says anything about his magic, and has attributed the connection he shares with the rabbit to Ammy's own exceptional qualities. His parents, however, appear even less inclined to believe in a magic rabbit than in the possibility that their son is a witch.

Likes:
The Skyborne family - Bear is, naturally, Ammy's absolute best friend. However, he loves the rest of his family every bit as much, even if he doesn't feel as close to them.
Cuddles - Too much is never enough! Ammy will be nagging his humans for more petting long after their arms have grown weary from the task.
Parsley - Generally, Amethyst can be trusted not to eat something out of someone's garden. If it's parsley... well, no guarantees.
Dislikes:
Loud and unexpected noises - It scares startles him and hurts his ears. Thunderstorms are the worst...
Bear being unhappy - Due to their bond, Ammy is able to sense when Bear is distressed. If Bear is unhappy, Ammy is unhappy.
Carrots - They taste funny, the texture is weird, and they make his mouth dry. Ugh. No thank you.
Personality:
Amethyst is an (overly) affectionate and bright rabbit. He and Bear are virtually attached at the hip, and one is rarely seen without the other. One such rare occasion is during the school season: Bear will be inside the school house, and Ammy will be sitting by the window or pawing at the door. Ammy is the more impulsive and adventurous of the pair, and has (unintentionally) lead Bear into trouble more than a few times. That said, he would do absolutely anything for his witch, and feels very fortunate knowing that the sentiment is mutual.

Q & A Bartleby is a rather strange name... Why did his parents name him that?
Bartleby is his mother's maiden name. Bear was their firstborn son, and since he would automatically carry his father's surname, they made his first name the surname of his mother.
Why does Amethyst have such a girly name? Does he mind?
Bear named him (with some help from his mom, who didn't know Ammy was a boy) without knowing Amethyst was a name for females. And, no, Ammy doesn't seem to care.
Whoa! What's with the kids in this family?! There's a seven year gap between Imogen and Bear, and then boom, boom, boom!
Bear's parents had a lot of trouble conceiving. After they had Bear, it didn't appear to be a problem anymore; no one knows why. Several months after Ammy bonded to Bear, the first set of twins were born. When Karissa gave birth two years later, it was to another set of twins. Again, no one knows why.

Family Mama [Karissa Bartleby Skyborne]: Patient, loving mother who puts up with her family's eccentricities. Good at multitasking and knowing when her one of her children (or husband) is about to do something stupid or make mischief.
Papa [Todd Skyborne]: A hardworking man and an indulgent father. He keeps his children in line, but allows them a good amount of freedom to be themselves (gender norms are occasionally deviated from in this household). He has a gentle demeanor and sunny disposition.
Imogen: Largely humorless, and old for her age, Imogen is practically a third parent. She is slightly overprotective of her younger siblings, but this has saved them from a harsh life lesson more than once. Easily the most serious one in the family.
Leland: Prides himself in being logical. He is mathematically and musically inclined. Doesn't believe in magic.
Florence: Identical twin to Adair. Extremely imaginative, and has a bad habit of lying. Keeps Adair from being too much of a stick in the mud.
Adair: Identical twin to Florence. Down to earth, and mature for his age. Keeps Florence from become the youngest member of Sunderland's Most Wanted.
Jessalyn: Fraternal twin to Caden. Shows signs of being a tomboy, to Imogen's bitter disappointment.
Caden: Fraternal twin to Jessalyn. Rough and tumble and very average for a toddler. He is most a enthusiastic wrestler, as Ammy can attest to (or could, if he could speak).
