In a small well lit grove a high pitch giggling could be heard. It's source a very happy purple foal who finally managed to trick her parents and leave their side. "Finally with my parents gone I can research in peace!" She exclaimed with another fit of giggles. She had recently found that some of the flowers she liked to smell were loosing there petals and getting fat. She was so surprised when she went to pick some of her favorite bell shaped flowers that had turned into a weird green ball. She wanted to ask her mom or dad about it but she knew her mom was way to oblivious to know and she didn't really want to bother her dad about it. He always seems to busy even when he wasn't doing anything. So instead she decided to leave her parents and find the plant again. And to see how many other of the flowers had changed shape. Or maybe if there are other plants with a similar condition. It was really weird though it also seemed normal. So she was guessing it was because the 'seasons were changing' that's what her mom used to describe all the weird happenings. Like all the small green tuffs she's always seen getting really big and blooming and all other sorts of things. She didn't know what the changing of seasons was but she really didn't like it as a reason. It was to short to simple. There had to be a bigger reason for it! So she started her search for flowers and baby fruit.

Trace watched his father for a while as he started to set up camp. It was something that had happened hundreds of times before. If he closed his eyes Trace could imagine it down to the tiniest detail. With a grin he turned and headed out of camp. His father wouldn't miss him for a bit, and this was his favorite time of each day. He wandered off in search of a new adventure.
The nearby area was thickly wooded and a deep lush green as the seasons began to turn. He cantered closer to investigate the local flora. Each plant, fruit and flower was a new entity to him that needed to be fully explored and learned about before he could move on to the next one. He turned at the high pitched sound and tilted his head in curiosity. That was certainly new to him. With his tail held high he crept closer to investigate the source.
She was a pretty filly, not that Trace had seen too many fillies in his short life. Her coat was a mottled mix of blue and purple that almost made her look like an overgrown flower amongst all of the greenery. "Hullo miss!" He trotted closer with a relaxed stance.

Concentrating so hard on looking for other specimens Livi didn't hear the foal come up. And when he spoke she almost jumped out of her skin and made an unintelligible scream that was supposed to be "What?!" Catching her breath and calming down took her about a minute before she turned and saw a handsomely brown foal with a mark on his back that reminded her of her mom. "Wow your back looks like my mom's face! Your also a really pretty brown that makes me think you could hide really well in dirt. Can you? Have you ever escaped a predator with your fur? Though I guess your a kid like me and wouldn't have had much chances to meet any one but your parents right? One day I'm going to explore the world and meet all sorts of people! And maybe fight an evil Kalona! Oh did you know there are soquili with butterfly wings!? Thats just so awesome right?" Grinning and smiling as she talked loud and fast. Her brain working almost to fast for her mouth to keep up. And right as she was about to start a new sentence she gasped and forgot all about the brown foal with the pretty markings. She had seen what she didn't know she was looking for. A ripened blueberry. It was a bluish ball on the same plant with the green balls and small white bell flowers and she was amazed by it. Trotting over to look at the plant that was right next to the male she was talking to she started to talk to herself, "Wow so it not only goes from a flower to a weird green ball but changes color! Wow what a cool plant! I wonder what it is? I think my mom said that during this time plants grow fruit. She and daddy like to tell us about them and how yummy they are. I wonder if these are yummy? I should try them. It's be stupid not to right?" Smiling to her self she takes a bite of unripped blueberries and squeals. The sour taste so new to her that she spit it out. "Ack! Bleh! That hurt! Ow it was so icky! who'd wanna eat that!" Closing her eyes as she slowly recovers from the shock.

He took two hesitant steps back and frowned as she jumped and let out a startled scream. "Pardon me. I didn't mean to scare ya." No sooner had the apology left his lips and she was bombarding him with all sorts of questions. He perked up and did his best to catch them all, Least she ain't scared no more! "I dunno, I ain't never tried to hide in the dirt. I should though. Just to find out! Predator? Never met one. What're they like?" He fell silent as her rambling turned to Kalonas. Those he had seen, from a distance of course, and that was still enough to make him scared. "Butterfly wings!! Really?!? I'd love to see 'em. I'll bet they're pretty!"
He watched as she inspected the plant next to him, curious as she was to find out what it might be. He laughed at the face she made as she tasted the sour berry. "Guess we know better now huh?"

Livi's eyes grew as she turned back to the little foal, she was once again surprised by his voice, having forgot he was there she was surprised to hear anything. But she knew he was talking before the last statement about not eating the berries. so she stared at him puzzled while she dug threw her memory to see if she could remember what he said. And once she realized that he was answering her questions. Her face brightened right up, she was always happiest when someone was answering her questions, or when she was preforming some little experiment. Though at this age it was really just playing since she didn't know what a real experiment was yet. "Oh! oh you know we should play hide and seek! But you be the hider so we can see how well you can hide in the dirt! Though you should roll in the dirt first to cover up you pretty markings cause they stick out and stuff. Oh I've seen them! They were really pretty! And they can get all small and stuff! And she had a small weird box thing. It was weird and it made noise but she was nice and stuff. And she could fly even when the wings looked so weak. It was really cool!" Scrunching her eye's knowing that there was one more thing he said. "Um ummmmm! Oh ya those green things are all sour don't eat them I don't think they are very good. But they are neat. It's so cool though cause these weird green things are coming out of these flowers! It's weird."

He watched in amused interest as her face cycled through a series of varied expressions. He made a note to avoid the strange green bulbs. Just in case they were dangerous as well as sour. He grinned wide and bounced a bit as he looked around. "Your right. I don't want to give myself away. What should you count to while I hide? 100 maybe?" He wanted to make sure he had time to cover his lighter markings before he really hid. Where was the fun in making it to easy for her?

Livi's face lit up when she realized the boy was going to play with her. He was the first foal she's met who actually wanted to play, her brothers were more interested in other things and not her. She grinned ear to ear and giggled in excitement. "Okay I'll count to 100 and you hide and I'll find you and it'll be cool, and we'll learn things and it'll be fun!" She hopped up and down laughing all the way. When she finally calmed down she bent down and covered her face with her front knees and started counting. "1, 2, 3, 4..."
