Kilian had ventured out into the forest, in search of another dragon, again. This time, he had a fight under his belt. Despite his loss, he felt so much more confident than before. Even with that behind him, he was still a novice at this. Moving through the forest, Kilian still stepped on the occasional twig and rustled leaves. Though the noise wasn’t nearly as bad as it had been the last time. He looked about, wondering where a dragon could be hiding. Taking a deep breath, he reached out with his senses, trying to find a trail to a dragon.

He continued walking, deeper into the forest. Searching and searching. Finally, his ear twitched as he heard a slight rustle. Crouching low, he readied himself. The rustling grew farther away and quieter. Fearful of losing his prey, Kilian ran after the sound. Thoughts of being quiet fled his mind yet again. He really needed to learn how to focus better. He burst through some rather large bushes and came face to face with a young Ysali dragon. Kilian’s tried to stop his momentum but had no luck. In the next instant he found himself running into the dragon’s head.

Stumbling back, Kilian took a giant gulp of air and held his breath. The Ysali dragon let out a rumbling sound from its throat and glared at Kilian and let out a fierce roar. That sound seemed to jolt Kilian out of his shock. Growling low in his own throat, he crouched down low. No way would he run from a dragon battle again. Doing his best to remember the moves he had learned from Elleth, Kilian took off, running around to the dragon’s backside. He shot his palm out, remembering to keep his fingers stiff and shoving his arm out with such force that he stumbled back as it made contact with the dragon.

The Ysali dragon grunted and turned his head back to face Kilian. Kilian wasn’t all too sure dragons could have actual expressions but he would have swore that there was a glimmer of amusement that passed over the dragon’s face. The move had done nothing but aggravate the dragon more. In less than a second, the dragon was swinging its large body. Before Kilian knew what was coming, flame started erupting from the dragon’s mouth. As quickly as his feet would let him, Kilian dashed out of the way. He had barely made it out of the way of those flames. As it was, the tip of his pony tail was singed and smoking.

Temporarily distracted by his smoking hair, Kilian didn’t see the Ysali dragon bringing its tail toward him until it was too late. Just as Kilian looked up, the dragon’s tail made contact with his stomach, sending Kilian flying through the air. He winced as his body hit a tree, stopping his flight but causing the breath to be knocked out of him. It took a few deep breaths for Kilian to finally get air fully into his lungs. He looked up and realized the dragon was stalking over to where he sit against a tree. Growling, Kilian realized that he had no other option but to flee. He swore out loud and lifted his battered body up off the ground. As quickly as his feet would allow, he fled from the dragon and back to his home.
