User Image She had been dreaming about this day ever since she heard of the Firekin invasion at that little spring, and every step of the way her mother had denied her this curiosity. Granted, she had been an adolescent at the time, but now that Chazama was a fully grown adult she had taken it upon herself to make the trip over to the outpost. She wasn't sure if she was excited, nervous, or even a little bit scared! It felt like her hair was standing on end with anticipation! She had seen the red-pelts in the distance every once in awhile, and that had only made her curiosity and desire to train with them stronger. Though her mother had called them giants, and Chazama was unsure of just how big they were. Maybe they were all Gakere's size? He was pretty big...

As she crested the steep and narrow hill that allowed her passage into the Firekin outpost, she couldn't believe her eyes. In fact, she was pretty certain her paws stopped working, as they had ceased to carry her any further into the outpost. Ooh, if her mother knew she was here she would kill her! Well, not literally, she hoped. But certainly she would have gotten one of Dina's famous lectures about getting too close to the Firekin. Her mother liked that topic, it seemed.

The longer she stood there the more out of place she felt. The lioness wasn't small, in fact she was quite average for a rogue and maybe even a bit taller than her mother, but this was insane. Did lions naturally get this big on their own? In truth this may have scared her, but a grin quickly swept it ways onto her maw. Wow. They were allowed to train with red, gigantic lions! Her tail swept across the dry dirt eagerly, eyes scanning the area and trying to take it all in. There was just one kink in her plan: how exactly did one go about asking to be trained? Chazama gulped as she took a few uncertain steps forward.

He was actually taking a short break from training when Spaki came across the bonelands lioness. She was actually a little hard to miss, curiously lacking of red, but not too strange altogether, because she also didn't have any brown. Besides, he'd been gone from his homelands for a few weeks now, and had seen quite a few non-red lions in the meantime.

She was walking closer now, and had even made her way past a couple firekin, though she looked a little uncertain of... something. Moto'spaki just looked out for himself, most of the time, but he wasn't an entirely unkind lion. Some firekin might behave poorly if she got in their way, and she might as well just deal with him first. With a short sigh, he took a couple steps closer. "Can I help you?" He perked his ears curiously. Ocasionally some bonelands lions wandered over to the outpost, and he supposed he had seen one or two actually come in. As far as the white male could tell there was still some tenseness about it all, and maybe they were just beginning to get bolder.

Not that that was an issue. They were allowed to, after all.

You'd think Chazama would be more prepared than this. Having spent her late adolescence and early adulthood simply dreaming of actually meeting a Firekin, and here she was, just standing around gawking. Ooh, she made herself so frustrated sometimes! Why did this have to be so hard? And then like a shadow, a huge, pale and crimson shadow, a male stepped up and spoke to her. Her eyes widened as she stared at him, she hadn't had much interaction with males, as the Bonelands only allowed their Abaholi and cubs to remain- all others were cast out upon adulthood or chased off pridal lands.

Oh, shoot, he said something to her. Best to answer him. "I..." What exactly was she going to say? She was starting to get nervous about this adventure, but a part of her thought that was silly. And that part grew until she realized that yes, it was silly to feel out of place here. They were allowed! Once more her grin flashed across her maw and Chazama dipped her head respectfully in greeting to the Firekin. "I've been looking forward to training with you, well, with the Firekin, for some time now. What do I have to do in order for that to happen?" He might not even know, but that was okay. Chazama was feeling better now despite her belly doing flipflops, she'd eventually find someone with the answer.

Come to think of it, this guy wasn't very red. How curious! They called them red-pelts and this male had snow white fur. Her grin shrank into a pleasant smile but her eyes remained eagerly on the Firekin. He was the first one she actually got to see up close! "So what do say Big Guy, can you help me?" Her ears swiveled back and forth in a show of her good mood and perhaps some nervous jitters, before finally resting on him again. Just look at him! She couldn't believe she was finally here.

(so sorry, this slipped my mind! ;;')

He looked on politely as she hesitated, though perhaps his impassiveness might be unnerving. He wouldn't rush her, Spaki could afford to let her gather her thoughts properly. And she didn't take that long anyways, soon enough brightening up. That was nice to see, the lioness relaxing easily enough. He didn't quite mean to make any friends in this place, but that didn't bar friendliness completely. It was a bit refreshing.

"You want to train." He repeated, mostly to himself. "Alright. Yes, I can help you." He shrugged, it was no biggie. Might as well. "We can start with a spar. Come, attack me." Despite his words, he didn't get into any stance.

((<3 That's okay.))

Roll 1: Miss

He... he said yes! Chazama could have jumped for joy, but instead her big grin once more beamed across her face. Oh this was exciting! She knew these Firekin were more interesting than her mother seemed to think. She was about to open her big mouth to say something, but she just barely managed to to catch him as he spoke last. A-a spar already? The lionesses eyes widened slightly at the thought. She had tussled a few times with her twin, and had hunted, but she was definitely lacking in experience when it came to sparing and fighting in general. And then he just stood there, expecting her to attack him. Er, how exactly did one attack another? It was strange thing to think, but Chazama was at a loss.

"Oh, okay. Just, uh, hmm..." she muttered, eyeing the Big Guy as she crouched, feeling much smaller now that she was thinking of him as an opponent. The good news was, she didn't think she'd be able to hurt him, so it would probably be alright. So, without much further ado, Chazama rushed forward- while having absolutely no idea what to do next. Should she... bite him? Completely unnerved, and caught off guard by the informal challenge to a spar, the lioness managed to fumble as soon as she got up close to him, quite unsure of herself.

Roll 1: Hit

At least she was willing. But her nervousness and uncertainty did make it fairly easy for Spaki to get away. "No," he said, calmly, as he stepped to the side and avoided... whatever it was she'd hoped to do. If she even had any idea of what she wanted to do. As she passed him, the male spun to follow the movements and reached out with his front paws, smacking them against her side to harshly push her away.

He would make no apologies for putting strength behind the blow. She was here to train with the firekin, so be it. Firekin didn't coddle their apprentices. Surely this lioness knew how to hunt. "If you don't know what to do, treat me like you would a wildebeest that's fighting back. That's a good enough starting point." He wasn't worried about her damaging him too much, Spaki was positive he'd been done worse than whatever this lioness could throw at him.

Roll 2: Hit

O-Oh, he moved! She knew he would, but for some reason it still surprised her. Though not as much as the harsh shove that pushed her over as easily as if he had been pushing a cub. Oof, that smarted! Her large soft eyes turned on him once again as he spoke to her, her ears perking to listen to him. He was at least willing to help her, and in Chazama's book, that made him an alright guy. She knew these Firekin weren't as bad as her mother told her they were, this one was actually teaching her what to do.

"Right", she affirmed with a nod, shakily getting back to her paws. She had been kicked in the face by a zebra before, but getting pushed around by another lion was a whole different side of it. The lioness took her time to collect herself, pacing a few strides to the side, but rushing in the opposite direction in a hasty dash to return his smack with one of her own paws- claws safely kept unsheathed of course. She had noticed he had done the same, and so Chazama was more than willing to put as much force behind her blow as she could muster. It was almost laughable compared to the Firekin, but she was at least delighted to have hit him this time.

Roll 2: Hit

That was much better! He did note how she was weaker than what he was used to, and Spaki realized this was the first time he'd actually do such a thing with a non-firekin. He supposed that meant he shouldn't tell her to rely on her strength just yet, at least not against an opponent like himself.

Still, it was a clever hit. She was already getting more creative, faking to one side before coming in to hit him again. He laid his ears at the blow, beginning to feel this was becoming more of a fight. But she remained there, which allowed for him to reach up with a paw, clamp it against one of her shoulders and turn her away, before finishing with another shove. "When your opponent is stronger, you hit and run. Don't stay close to the front." He offered, taking a couple steps to the side, but still facing her. "If you come at me like that, I could hit you in the face."

Roll 3: Miss

She was quite pleased that she had hit him, so much so that she had forgotten not to stand in front of him. Once more Chazama felt the weight of the Firekin's paws and was once more shoved toward the ground, easily. That was a little bit disappointing, and she wasn't use to getting struck at so often, it was starting to sting. The lioness once more scrambled to her paws, backing off as Big Guy reminded her not to stay in front of him. If she could help it, she wouldn't give him a chance like that again, and if she was lucky, these fighting tips would stick to her much better than her mother's hunting lessons.

What he said made sense, and the Bonelands lioness prowled to the side while remaining out of reach, her body low to the ground as she looked for an opening. She thought she saw one, and overeager to repeat her last hit on him she made a sloppy lunge towards his shoulder, realized it was a mistake, but was far too late to do anything about it. The look on her face, however, was quite priceless.

Roll 3: Miss

He had faked an opening, and she took the bait. Perhaps it hadn't been very nice to trap her like that, but Spaki couldn't help but grin at her face. Yes, that was funny. He avoided her attack easily enough, turning to try and smack his paws down on her rump as she recovered.

He overestimated her recovery time, though, and she was already gone. His paws landed in the sand. Briefly, he was frustrated, because when you want to hit, you want to hit. But then he smiled. "Much better!" She was a fast learner, at least.

Roll 4: Bide

She wasn't exactly terrified of being hit again, but she didn't exactly want to be shoved either. Despite missing her initial attack Chazama thoroughly remembered his advice, and put into effect. In a quick turn the lioness was on her paws and skirting around the Firekin again as she heard his paw thwap into the dusty ground, prowling just out of his reach once more. His words did bring a huge grin to her face again, a toothy grin that she could be proud of. "And I plan to keep on working at it", she returned, making the decision to stick with her training. Her mother might not like it, but Chazama wasn't the greatest of hunters, and she had discovered that this sparring thing was actually making her quite happy.

Chazama continued her prowling, pale eyes eager to spot any sort of opening she could get to. Something she hoped wouldn't land her a smack for attempting, but it wasn't so bad. Big Guy's hits were definitely starting to smart and she figured she'd be sore after this training session with a Firekin, but she could keep going at least for a little while longer. If nothing else, she wanted one more hit on him, just one, and in order to do that she needed to make her attack worth it, and thus she continued to try and find the perfect time to strike.

Roll 4: Bide

"As you should." He conceded calmly. Her pride was not unlike that of a firekin who was doing well, and it was certainly amusing to see how she lit up. She seemed a bit spunkier, though. And a quick learner, definitely a good thing!

She was fast, and Spaki would rather not try and run at her at this point. If he did so, she could easily avoid him. She might not manage to hit him, true, but missing was just as frustrating as getting hit. Er, most of the time. He supposed he'd rther miss than get a strong blow to the face. So he mirrored her movements, instead, circling to the side. Her move.

Her ears again perked to listen to the Firekin's voice, though this time her mouth remained firmly shut. She was concentrating, focusing on just when and where would be a good place to come in for an attack. Her body language reflected this from the way her paws lightly and steadily hit the ground, to the way her eyes remained glued to their target. Likewise there was a certain bounce to her step, a dead giveaway to her eagerness, and perhaps a tell tale sign of what her movements were going to be. She wasn't aware of this, as the lioness was still very new to sparring and fighting in general.

Then she saw it. Or, she thought she saw it. He was mirroring her movements and so Chazama decided to dash at his flank, hoping her speed would give her the advantage. A paw outstretched to tag at the Firekin, but in a rather disappointing realization her paw merely hit air, and then struck hard into the ground, causing the lioness to pull back sharply in hopes of regaining her footing before it was too late.

He avoided that one easily enough. But... even though it had been a very direct attack, not the sort that snuck up on you, she had been quicker, more decisive. And so it was quite a bit better than before. He escaped the attack by stepping to the side, and then taking a step closer as she recovered and scrambled to get away.

Spaki didn't bother giving chase though. He rolled his shoulders and stood normally. "Very good." He mused. He wouldn't gush over her skill, but she did learn quickly enough. "We're done for now. You can come back later if you wish, or find someone else to spar with."

When she realized he wasn't going to come after her, the splotchy lioness flopped to her haunches, allowing herself to catch her breath. Had she been holding it? She hadn't been aware of that. Still, her expression was hopeful, even if she had lost her spar with Big Guy, it was probably the most fun she had ever had. Though, she didn't think fighting was suppose to be fun, better keep that bit to herself.

She did smile up at him as he spoke, glad to have met the white pelted Firekin. "Thank you, and you can bet I'll be back", she grinned despite the pains and sores that were beginning to make themselves known. Overall, she had decided she liked these red giants, and Gakere had made a good decision in negotiating with them. Who wouldn't want to train with these lions? They were so strong! It could only benefit the Bonelands, and Chazama was determined to show her pride- and most of all, her mother- what good could come of it. Once more Chazama dipped her head respectfully to the male before pushing herself up onto tired paws, and padded her way toward the Outpost border. She was so excited she even forgot to tell him her name, but her smile remained as she headed back towards home.
