HANDLER
Name: Hus
Age: 22
Gender: female
Sexual Orientation: straight
Craft/Rank: Hunter/Wher-handler, journeyman tanner
History: Hus was the second child of Trine hunter Husrn and Tanner Jorina. Her mother had come to Trine alongside Hus’s grandfather who had at the time been a teacher at the Tannercrafthall in Igen to look into some of the preservation possibilities of some of the southern plants. Her mother wandering the market while Hus’s grandfather had been in the meeting came across Husrn and left the hunter smitten. In the three days that followed the two were hardly parted and when it came time to return to Igen Husrn managed to convince Jorina to remain behind with him in Trine. The two settled down in a cothold near the edge of the jungle and had three children Jorn, Hus, and Jusiran. The only girl of the family Hus was the apple of her father’s eye and always tripping after him and Jorn while her father worked. When Jorn was old enough her brother decided to leave to join a beastcrafting hall and in an attempt to fill the absense left by his eldest son Husrn took Hus under his wing teaching his tomboyish daughter to hunt and skin. Hus took to the jungles of Trine as deftly as her father did and for a time her mother let things be. Jorina wanted her daughter to enjoy her childhood before she would be ushered to act like a lady and choose a craft of her own. This plan was deftly cut short when Hus’s father was killed on a hunt. With Jorn away and only a few short months from walking the tables to journeyman Hus was left to take up her father’s mantle to help her mother and little brother. Putting her skills to use as a hunter she began traversing the jungle much to mother’s displeasure and found that like her father she had a knack for the hunt. Bringing in pelts and meat with their combined efforts Hus and her mother were able to hold their own for the few months until Jorn returned. With her brother’s return though Hus found her much prized freedom suddenly cut short. Not wanting to lose her daughter as well as her husband to the Jungles of Trine Hus’s mother forbade her of ever going near it, not that that really stopped Hus. Eventually Hus was shipped to Igen to the tannercrafthall in hopes that she would take up a respectable craft and forget all about her time as a hunter. Hus got in both thanks to a natural nack for tanning and leatherworking and a good word from her now retired grandfather. While she excelled at her classes it was rather clear that Hus’s heart was elsewhere and when word reached her ears not long after she reached journeyman of the wher-handlers recruitment she turned heel and headed for Benden. Hus knew that whers where often used in Trine to ward off felines, but she had a different idea in mind. Instead she planned to use her wher to supplement her hunting and like her father before her make her own way in the world through selling hides. The jungles were calling her and Hus had ever intention of answering and throwing herself into her lessons she soon came out the other end with a wher egg of her own.
Description: Hus stands at an unusually tall 6’1 with a well muscled athletic build made for long hard runs. Her skin is a rich tan covered with freckles that offset her wild mane of copper orange hair. Her eyes are a bright yellow green and she often uses dark green paint to help her better blend into the jungle. She typically wears strong hunting leathers in dark muted tones of brown or green and travels light and comfortable. The right side of her face is covered in scars from a close encounter with a wild feline when she was younger.
Personality:Courageous: Whether it's for a self-serving thrill or the opportunity to better herself in the face of danger no one can claim that Hus is a coward. Though a number of elders including her parents will whisper on occasions that her 'courage' borders along the lines of bloodthirsty zealotry in the face of the hunt. Her skills on the other hand can not be questioned and what she asks is usually a small price to pay in the face of this woman risking life and limb to snatch child and livestock alike from the jaws of the likes of wild whers or over confident felines.
Decisive: In the face of danger one doesn’t have time to debate decisions, not when every second counts you closer to death. Hus is a master of snap decisions and quick thinking with a tendency to do her best work when under pressure.
Hard-Working: No job is too big nor a task too small. When a target is set Hus has been know to track down her prey for days upon end drawing into weeks. Mildly ocd about finishing a job, work left undone once it’s been started with drive her crazy until she has finished it.
Optimistic: While not exactly cheerful Hus has a tendency to always look on the up and up. In her eyes when you’ve hit rock bottom all it means is you can’t slide down any farther. She’s tends to view everything in life as a new challenge for her to best and meets it usually with a devil-may-care smile.
Reliable: While she may not always be on time Hus can be relied upon to get a job done. Barring you don’t have too tight of a time frame she tends to do her best work under pressure. Obstacles just make the task more interesting to her and she’s well known for getting the kill and getting her work done.
Unforgiving: Hus isn’t a fool me once shame on you kind of person. She doesn’t forget, she doesn’t forgive and she certainly doesn’t want anything to do with double crossers. If she can’t give you the tiniest bit of trust in a job where a slip up means her life then you’re not worth her time end of story.
Controlling: Oh so you have a gold wher huh? Think that means she’s just gonna bowl over and bow out? Not likely. Hus may not be the most social person in the world, but she will step up to any task, much to people’s annoyance and say what needs to be done. She doesn’t like to lose control ever. She doesn’t drink and even wher runs are things she views with distinct uncertainty. Whether it’s her body, her mind, or her tasks she likes to be in charge no matter who she has to get into a tussle with to prove it.
Late: There are no time telling devices in the jungle and at times days seem to blur upon end. Hus is used to waking up on her own when she feels like it and tends to be like a feline when it comes to coming when she’s called. If you want her someplace specific you’d better be willing to wait for her. Because no matter who you are she goes at her own pace.
Unorganized: Knife check, equipment check? Anything beyond what’s inside her pack? Not check. The small cothold room Hus rents is always an inspired mess. Things that her life doesn’t depend on are never where they’re meant to be and frankly she doesn’t care. So what if there’s a shoe in her bed and a set of furs on the steps? Hus is a woman that’s all, but gone native with Trine’s jungle and she sees little reason to keep up charades of caring how she lives when not surrounded by tree’s on all sides. Her un-organization though does often heavily lead to her lateness. Since unless she feels an event is important enough to prepare for ahead of time there’s a good chance she could spend days sorting through her stock trying to find things.
Mistrusting:
