The game had sounded fun enough, and hell it was something that wasn't related to field trips or Hunters. Mort couldn't help but grin a bit at the all too important envelope he'd received, though the second he saw his target's photo that smile dropped.
Amrita, of all the people . . .wry him first. They might have only met once, but it hadn't been a pleasant memory. Mort wasn't one to seek vengeance, not without reasonable cause - if anything, he wanted to leave the nightmare demon well alone.
But Mort was going to be a manly man about this, so he sucked it up, tousled his foxfire Lanna's head, snatched the pin, and shuffled his way to the demon dorms that afternoon. Situating himself behind the outer wall of the dorms, the zomboil lurked in the shadows in hopes that eventually "Rudolph" (or Titus, as the envelope had told him) would just show up so he could get this over with.

Titus had no idea what he had gotten himself into. All he knew was he had been given an envelope with instructions and a pin on the inside. Not in the mood he had casually tossed his envelope to the side. He could deal with it later...whatever it was.
For now the demon was just up for a walk and a bit of fresh air completely unaware his name had been given to a fellow student along with a pin with his name on it. In a sense.

At the sight of the demon, Mort swallowed. Right. Okay. Just sneak up on him, that shouldn't be so hard right? Carefully, caaaarefully he lifted his sneakers and planted them one by one, cursing that he suffer from zombie-like slowness. Still, his prey seemed unaware, so as long as he could -
snap
- nope let's just abandon sneaking. This was a game of action for Jack's sake! Even the pin he'd been given, currently clipped to his coat pocket, made a sort of impatient rrrr sound. Still, Mort only let off a most measly spark at Titus, a bit startled by the sound himself. So much stun and go.

Titus suddenly felt the lightest zap. Nothing unlike dragging your feet across the carpet and touching a door knob immediately after. The only problem was...there was no carpet and he certainly wasn't touching anything.
With a deep set frown the demon turned, white pupil-less eyes staring straight at Mort. Regarding the zombie for only a moment the demon finally cracked a rather cruel smile. "Well, hello, Scraps. Long time no see. Still running from cosplayers?"

For a moment Mort just stared. C . . . Cosplayers?! Was he seriously still in the dark about that?
And then he remembered every net, every scream, every blow and defeat and cruel, cruel smile so much like the demon's, and so much more done to him and the other students. And then the humor left him like a cold wind.
"Something like that."
Titus's ignorance, feigned or real, was an insult. A slap to the face. Accordingly, Mort retaliated with an unabashed full-body tackle. He wouldn't do real bodily harm because a Yearbook person was watching them, but Survivor was a contact game after all.

That smile quickly vanished when Titus had an undead boil charging in his direction. He made to maneuver but Mort was surprisingly and mysteriously fast and the tackle was unavoidable.
Going down the demon made his best attempt to push the undead away. "I don't know where you got the notion but my door doesn't swing that way." >8|

"Have doors? Thought liked living in small, cramped space've ignorance, no windows r' anything," Mort muttered, surprised at the force behind his first move - and how easily he was battered away. If he needed to breathe, he imagined he'd be a little winded by the collision. "Not learned anything a-about what's going on since last saw?"

As soon as the zombie was pushed away Titus made his way back to his feet. He brushed himself off with an air of disgust on his face, eyes locked on the undead as he spoke. It seemed there was a flittering amount of concentration as Titus tried to decipher what Mort was saying the wheels obviously turning with every word.
There was almost a moment of enlightenment. His face lighting up like he got whatever came pouring out of Mort's mouth before that expression fell. "....What?"
Whatever, it was no concern of his. Shaking his head he reached out his hands to push the zombie aside so he could leave. "Move aside scrap heap."

Briefly Mort considered punching him. Was that still within the rules of Survivor? Probably not . . . But maybe a nice hit to the head would clear up his chronic case of wtf.
As it was, he settled on grasping the demon's shirt when he tried to push past and shoved him right back (the pin hissing and trying ineffectually to clamp onto Titus's clothes), growling, "Open eyes, Rudolph! Have not heard about horsemen, about Hunters? Or only paying attention when snooping in dreams, a-acting like big man on campus?"

"Rudolph?" Now where had he heard someone call him that before. It took Titus a moment to recall the memory of pestering Hel. "Ah, so you must has been the one to start the oh so creative name." Titus was not impressed and his tone made that clear.
When Mort reached for his clothes he tried to brush the hand away. "Word of advise, when name calling find something that hurts...or at least makes sense, Brainiac. See what I did there. It's a thing called irony because a brain you do not have."

He started something, huh? Mort couldn't help but smile a bit on the inside. "But did make sense," he insisted, concentrating, concentrating . . . "Don't remember what happened after m-messed around in my dream?"
There! His hand shot out and grabbed Titus's nose, yanking it to the side.
"Only, was a punch. Made nose nice n' red like the reigndeer's~" Not one who normally derived pleasure from violence, the zomboil was still wearing a boyish smirk at the memory. That time the demon had been the one in charge, but today . . . ah, today Mort caught a glimpse of what it was like to have the upper hand.

"Oh I remember and I'm certain I still owe you a ow ow OW." Titus let out a bit of a whine when Mort managed to grab his nose in a firm grip and jerk his head to the side. "I have no qualms about biting." He warned in a nasally voice.

"Same here," he replied with a smile that bared teeth more than anything else. But rather than follow up on that challenge (which again sadly seemed too violent for this game), Mort bopped the demon's nose with his pin before clipping it there; the thing hissed with glee.
"But maybe later, Rudolph. For now, game i-is over."

Titus couldn't hide the level of displeasure he felt as Mort clipped the clothes pin on his nose. So this was what this was all about. Baring those nice shark like teeth he finally pulled away but not before he made a quick snap at Mort's hand for good measure.
"I guess I should congratulate you on the biggest achievement of your life. You can advance to the next level of this scareling game." Titus was doing his best to hide it but he was miffed he had lost in the first round. Carefully he removed the pin from his nose and tossed it before continuing his way to the door. "We'll settle this later with a real game. I promise." And that was all he said before he disappeared out of the dorms.
