Being outdoors really suited her best, Ofelia felt. She liked the cloudy skies (the bright sky was okay but she didn't miss it) adn she liked the feel of the air on her skin.

Being outdoors also meant she could kick training dummies and not feel bad, and no one was around to make her wish she could run away and hide. Unless people came to the kitchen or she purposefully looked for them the teen was something of a hermit.

Or a hobo.

Rue said hobo, somewhat under her breath, and the teen ignore it as she went to town punching a dummy with her bare hands. Ahh, bliss. At least it was good exercise.

Deryk had made his way towards the training fields, looking to get in a little practice himself. As he was coming up to the place, he heard some light thuds. It sounded like someone else was here. And sure enough, he spotted another trainee going to town against one of the practice dummies. He had seen her around now and then; she was also one of the lambs if he recalled correctly.

"Hey! Nice work you're doing there. Hope you don't mind me getting in some practice too, yes?" he grinned while making his way to one of the other dummies. Now, he wasn't really used to hitting these still. A fighter he was never really much of, and yet he somehow managed to hold his own pretty well when it came down to it.

Usually at least.

Squaring up to one of the dummies, he brought his hands up, then went to punch one. Maybe he could figure out why Leon liked to punch all the things if he did this.

Ofelia froze as a voice came up behind her and it took all she had not to turn and punch at the approaching figure. When her brain registered that she didn't know who it was, which meant punching wouldn't end well, she had her hands drop quickly to her side and a grin just as quickly plaster itself to her lips. "Yer more than welcome ta join me. The more the merrier, yeah?" The teen scooted over a few dummies, just to make sure neither one of them hit an arm or a leg with a wide swing.

It wasn't until Ofelia found that she wasn't punching things that she turned to look at this newcomer again, trying to place him. When she finally did, it was like a light clicked on. "Oh, yer Deryk Bond! Ah remember ya, do ya remember me? Ah'm Ofie." She paused. "Er, Ofelia Tanner. Ya were there when Ah came from mah pod."

Grinning still, Deryk went on to punch the dummy another time. It didn't really feel particularly special. Though, his attention didn't stay on the dummy for long anyway as Ofelia confirmed that she was one of the lambs.

"Yep! Was there when you and your group were waking up. Also was in the classroom for your orientation," he nodded. It was the orientation where Caelius was MIA for. But one thing was still the same.

Clarice was killed as a golem. He had to wonder how many times she had to go through that sort of thing. Probably a lot. That had to suck.

"Been holding up alright?" he asked as he threw another punch at the dummy.

"Mmmm, can' complain really. Ah've seen lots'a stuff, done lots'a stuff, an' am still standin' at the end'a it. How are ya holdin' up on yer end?" Ofelia kept watching him punch, a slight grin spreading more over her face in replace of the forced one. He looked like he wasn't used to this. "Not used ta punchin', are ya?"

Ofelia didn't beat around the bush. Ever.

"Doin' alright. Just.. kinda same ol. For the most part. Few hitches here and there."

Like losing his room. And one of his fingers.

Deryk froze a bit when Ofelia called him out on the punching thing, and slowly turned towards her with a nervous grin.

"Ehe... n-no. Not particularly. Never was much of combatant. Things I know mostly with weapon. Not much hand to hand."

That might have been an understatement.  

[Rown]

"Ahaha, s'okay. Ta be honest ya dun look much like the punchin' type, no offense ta ya." Ofelia took a few steps towards Deryk and held her hands out. Her fingers were long and thin, but her knuckles were calloused and so were the palms of her hands. "Rue's a hand-ta-hand close combat weapon, but b'for Ah got 'er Ah was always in brawls. Ah'm not big on punchin' properly, but Ah know how ta throw a punch well 'nough."

Brawling and fighting monsters was similiar, right? "Is yer weapon more the stabbin' type or sommin', if ya dun mind me askin'?" Ofelia was slowly learning to ask more about the people around her, to try and expand her world and information. It was sad to admit she knew so little despite being in the center for almost five months.

Deryk gave another nervous laugh at that.

"Tooley's a close combat too. But. Doesn't require punching. Can't really punch with her really. But yeah. She's a stabby sort. Hidden blade," he said before going ahead to summon her. The little bracelet thing he had shifted into a leather bracer of sort. It probably could have been mistaken as a simple piece of armor really.

"Dun look like much but she got a nice bite. yes."

"Oh whoa! Cool!" Ofelia was about to reach for Deryk's arm, to get a closer look at his weapon, when the bracelet on her wrist seemed to jingle. All it took was a single thought about Rue for the weapon to be summoned, and no sooner then that was the set of knuckledusters on her fists. " . . .an' this would be Rue."

It was strange, was her weapon...jealous? As if. "She's a set'a knuckledusters, but fer some reason she's bladed. Dunno why, but it helps when slicing an' stabbin', though mostly we punch."

There was a long, drawn out pause.

" . . .since we both got our weapons out, why not a spar?"

"Ooooh nice. Can see why you'd wanna practice punchin' then. And uh. Sure! Better practice this way. Dummies don't fight back."

Granted chances of injuries were also fewer against dummies. But this shouldn't go too badly. Grinning, Deryk moved away from the inanimate bodies to move into the more open clearing.

"Alright. Ready when you are." he nodded.

Ofelia knocked her knuckles together, the blades seeming to miss hitting her entirely in the process. A grin spread over her face as well as she followed Deryk to the more open area, pulling off her jacket just in case. She didn't like how it felt heavy on her, maybe she needed to wear it a bit more to get used to it.

Or maybe she could just take it off. "Ah should warn ya, Ah'm not very good at this." She chuckled.

"Neither am I. Usually anyway. Manage somehow sometimes," Deryk nodded before making his move. While he ran at her, he stumbled for the moment, but managed to right himself. He thrusted his left arm out at Ofelia, where Tooley's blade quickly extended out to try and catch her.

When Deryk came for her Ofelia took the hit, knowing it would be easier for her to retaliate once a person was close enough for her to strike. The teen didn't really have a fighting style other than 'punch all the things' but it usually worked out in the end for her. In this case a strong strike was delivered from both her right and left hand, each punch connecting.

"Ah guess that's why we all practice, yeah?"

Ouch that had been a hefty hit on Ofelia's part. Thank goodness for fear shields. It still caused Deryk to let out a grunt from the impact, though.

"Yep! Sure is," he grinned. He moved to the side, then made a swipe for her. Again it was with the left hand, seeing how he only had one arm to attack with.

At least with a weapon.

Ofelia was having an easy time with Deryk, his hits were light, but taking that for granted would be something that would end her life easily. The act of underestimating a person was always the downfall of anyone and seeing as Ofelia didn't have an awesome track record she needed to stay on her toes for everything.

A second set of blows was delivered as the teen took a few steps, her posture perfect for someone used to having to deal damage with their hands. It was true she wasn't good at this but at least her stance was getting better. "Ah wonder if there are videos fer us ta watch, ta help get better trainin'. Ah mean hands on is awesome, but watchin' stuff dun hurt, yeah?"
