[PRP] A Grave Meeting - Imogen, Dayunsi and Malis - Le Fin

[Malis Vitterfolk]

"So what is the plan Malis? Do we keep the channels open in case there are more injuries?" The leader of Willowglen was concerned. The rumors of attacks were no longer just rumors and soquili had gotten hurt. Luckily non of the members of the Willowglen herd had been attacked but these occurrences had been within the protected areas outside of the herd territory. Immi was worried they would soon be next but was determined to still be there to help the soquili in need. "If that is the case, I refuse to completely close the territory boundaries. Increase the protection but if there are any soquili in need they must be given access to our glades at the very least."

The large elder shook her head. "If these attacks be continuin' then we must close t' borders. Ah be trainin' mah brood t' protect t' herds but if t' rumors be true then it be a skinwalker. Ah be talkin' t' Solemn about t' clues. It be him who be tellin' mahself it be t' walkers but ah still be thinkin' there be somethin' goin' on." She wasn't sure if she should trust the 'reformed' skinwalker who had started gracing their borders with his presence. The young mare, Nox, was quite adamant that the catwalker was safe but still the spirits whispered. However, it couldn't be Solemn who was hunting in the area outside of the Vitterfolk and Willowglen territories as the flutter, Rynn had been attacked by a pair who were spotted and did not fit Solemn's description. Still, if there was another walker who had staked out a hunting area near by Malis knew she had to take care of it.

The small flutter stallion spoke up, "I have made sure that anyone gathering herbs for our healers have been going out in pairs." Dayunsi was soft spoken but he still took his co-leadership of Willowglen seriously. He landed lightly and then grew in side until he was about shoulder high to his lifemate, Imogan so that Malis wasn't towering over him too much though she was still easily double his size. The flutter-corn added in his same even voice, "Anyting to help the safety of the herds."

The troll matriarch nodded again. "That be a good idea. Ah be thinkin' we be makin' it required fer all excursions. Especially fer t' youngsters." Malis shook her head, her long dreads clinking with the movement. "Most of t' attacks have been when t' victims have been on their own." She knew it was important to keep the younger once safe yet they still needed to learn how to protect and defend themselves if there was any trouble. It was a very thin line to walk, especially considering the circumstances.

Dayunsi nodded in turn before he uttered his question, a curious look upon his face. "How is Amirynth doing? This is the second time she has been attacked. It was only just a few months back she was found from the last time." The flutter was concerned about his fellow breed-mate, especially as he had been attacked once before. Thankfully his attacker was just a lynx who though him a bird or some other tasty snack, but still the fear was there. "They had to have followed her trail back here. What if it was that pair who was the ones attacking the few who visit our open areas?" Day glanced between the two larger mares and wrinkled his nose at the though of their herd being in danger. "Do you think we could use this Solemn to hunt down the other skinwalkers?"

"Ah don't know?" Malis tilted her head to the side as she thought. "Ah could ask him but ah still don't know what side he be on. It be one thin' t' be tellin' t' secrets of another an' quite another t' be attackin' those of t' same kind. Even if 'walkers be on t' territorial side an' if he be tellin' t' truth then these new skinwalker be intrudin' on t' area he be promisin' t' stay within'." She lifted a hoof for a moment and inspected it. "If he be wantin' t' stay close to t' boundries he should be provin' himself..." The large mare snorted once before she looked down towards Dayunsi. "Rynn be doin' quite fine though she be a little off recently. She be healin' within' one o' t' glased near t' Vitterfolk areas an' ah be keepin' a close eye on her." The troll neglected to mention the philter and it's effects to the other leaders. That would be up to Rynn if she wanted to let others know about the new additions to the herd. "She be doin' much better than before though there always be room fer improvement." Malis hoped the improvements could be faster, especially if skinwalker attacks were becoming more frequent but some things just couldn't be hurried.

Imogen added in, "If she has any other information about her attackers that can help us track them down and maybe get them to leave..." Even though they were dangerous, the mare could not conceive the thought of permanently disposing of the attackers. She still clung to the fact that they could be persuaded to move. "I still do not feel that closing the boarders are the solution though. While they do not belong to our herd, we still have a duty to protect those who wander upon our lands to graze in safety and peace. We have pledged to protect our territories and we must uphold that pledge." Immi could understand where Malis was coming from but still felt they had more important duties than staying insular.

"We cannot push her though. She has been through quite a lot and she might withdraw into herself if we did." The flutter knew much about that, once being in the same spot. He felt he had betrayed Immi's love after a chance meeting with Isriel, even though he loved his son Nidawi very much. Day had withdrawn from the herd as a way to hide his 'transgressions' so that he would not have to tell the lie that his son was adopted... Thankfully he never had to utter such a lie and when Imogen returned to the herd she sought him out and made him confess, not because she thought it was wrong but because she knew it plagued him so. They managed to patch things up and Immi welcomed Nidawi with open hooves. This was the best scenario and Day knew he had been lucky. With Rynn... not so much, she was already more fragile than him, even the small flutter could see that.

Malis nodded again sagely. She already knew how close Amirynth's current predicament was to Dayunsi's story though for completely different reasons. The troll shook her head, "Rynn aside, even if we managed ta be gettin' more details from her, ah not be knowin' how much they be helpin' it if be some other 'walkers that be doin' t' attackin'." While she felt fiercely protective over the flutter being as she chose to join the Vitterfolk, Malis wasn't quite sure the small filly would be much help if something happened. her immediate concern was to protect the boarders and make sure the attacks didn't come any closer. As it was she had started to hear more and more about clawed soquili beyond the other side of the river which marked one of the edges of their territories. The spirits had hinted these were not villians but at the same time were not a tribe she wished to tangle with just yet. She had considered getting more information and sending out an envoy but the spirits had cautioned her against that. For now it was to stay a mystery...

The flowered mare turned away shaking her head. "If we cannot ask her, what is the next plan? I already have two within my care who are lucky to have escaped and one who, if I am to understand her story, is missing her friend which is what worries me more." Imogen frowned, "While I do not wish to have either happen, I would prefer to have a mare who is injured over one who is missing." The story she had been told disturbed her greatly and she wished she could have gotten more detail. One thing had been apparent though, it was a feline version of the legendary skinwalkers who seemed to be the culprit, however the gender was unsure. From what she had heard, said large cat had enticed them on a walk, promising them a treat of fresh strawberries. After something had seemed wrong she had tried to get her friend to turn away and come back to the meadow, the forest taking on a darker tone around them. Her friend decided to ignore her so she had gone to find help, almost twisting her ankle in her hurry to get to safety. Two members of Willowglen had gone out to search for her friend but had come back with nothing to report, even after following the path they had taken for quite a while into the dense parts of the forest.

"Yes, Ah be plannin' t' send out another parteh t' be lookin' fer her missin' friend as soon as we be finishin' here. Ah might go check on t' little lady mahself to make sure she be doin' ok and see if ah can be gettin' any more clues." Malis tilted her head towards Imogen curiously, "Ya be sayin' t' kitteh be on t' blue shades?" The troll was starting to get suspicious but didn't have anything to base her worries upon. She made a plan to also chat with Nox once more in case she could get any information out of Solemn... or if she had any information of her own. "If anythin' we can be seein' if there be another connection between t' mares except t' fact that they be all female." That was the one thing that angered her the most. It was one thing to kill or injure another, quite a different thing to specifically search out females. She was hoping at least her brood would have sense enough to keep up with their training and at the very least keep someone else with them at all times.

"Has there been any specific area that have been pegged as dangerous?" Dayunsi was slightly worried that the hunting grounds might have started encroaching upon his known herbal sites. The last thing he wanted was to send his apprentices into an area that had been picked out by a skinwalker as a place to find food. The fluttercorn shook out his mane, sending a hummingbird darting out for a moment before the little flash of colour settled back within the flowers and vines. "I am getting low on herbs and it would be soon that I will need to send out for more. Especially as it seems like we might have a greater need for them in the near future." Day started thinking about the flora he would be needing. Most of it could be gathered close by but there were a few he might have to trade for as they were out of season. He would have to discuss things with Nidawi when he returned back to his glade.

Imogen turned towards her lifemate, "From what the mares have told us, it seems to mostly be the northern region beyond the strawberry thickets. If they get any closer though we are going to have our glades threatened and we'll get pushed against the riverbank to the east or the open meadows to the south." It was more the glades that Immi worried about as there were new foals coming and those would be the ones endangered if the area was threatened. "I don't know Malis, do you think at the very least we can get a few more patrols in that area just to be on the safe side?" She glanced towards the troll, knowing that her resolve was slipping as she thought of the younglings who would soon need protecting.

The elder nodded, "Yes ah can be requestin' that Sen'jin an' Yisi be makin' sure t' patrol that side more. Especially if we be knowin' there be non-herders be wanderin' around t'ere." She eyed Imogen for a long while, she knew it would not be long before the floral mare would see things her way and understand why complete closing of the borders were necessary but the spirits were whispering to her, letting her know that Immi had to come to that decision by herself. Unlike when the troll was younger, Malis listened to them closely. "Ah also be keepin' mah ears out t' see if any more attacks or sightin' be happenin' an' where they be located." She turned to the exit of the clearing and flicked her tail once, "Ah be goin' t' be checkin' out a few thin's an' havin' a chat wit' t' Protectors. Ah be sendin' Sen'jin t' ya soon an' if ya can let him talk t' ya patients that'd help a bunch." With that she walked out, the plan already being set into motion.

Immi nodded a farewell to the retreating troll mare. "Thanks Malis, we'll let you know what we find out also." She turned and nuzzled Day with a worried look upon her face. Now she had the duty to let the others in the herd know about what was going on. This was not something they could keep a secret any more. Not everyone needed to know the exact details, but there were a few specific mares she needed to warn personally as well as set out the general warning. The floral mare considered letting other's know near by who she knew came to visit the open fields regularly. She did not want to cause too much panic in case word got to the catwalker who had picked the hunting ground near them but at the same time wanted others to know that there was danger unless they stayed close to the inner areas of the Willowglen territories.
