He really didn't know why he'd done it, really he honestly didn't, it was a flight of fancy really. There was no particular reason to come here, especially on his own, but here he was at the ocean. Cadha was at his parents house, spending time with his mother and father. The problem with being here was simple: He was alone and there was sun. He disliked the sun, he burnt under it's annoying bright rays, and he honestly disliked the summer. The only reason he saw a need for the summer was his plants needed the season, other wise he really wouldn't care if the season were to suddenly not exist due to some freak event.
Laying in the shade provided by two large umbrellas he had a new pair of sunglasses, made for females (don't even think to point this fact out), perched on his nose and while he did have a pair of dark blue swim trunks on he had obviously not touched the water. He was dry, not a drop of water to be seen on his all too pale body, and not a drop of water or dampness could be seen on the large towel he was occupying as he lay on his side reading a book. Feet were bare and crossed at the ankles as he flipped a page. Glancing over the top of his sun glasses, they had just slipped down his nose, he glanced at the loud people not more than twelve feet from him. All tan and slender and the females in skimpy little things, would it really make a difference if they ran about nude? He didn't much think so. Sniffing once he adjusted his sunglasses and went back to the book in hand. He really didn't know why he'd come here, he had nothing to blame the insane idea on. No tv show, book, commercial, movie, or spoken words came to mind when looking for the culprit behind this irrational idea.
Something of a soft growl passed his lips before being smothered in favor of reaching for the cooler he'd thought to pack. Pulling a bottle of flavored water out he took a long sip. Maybe he should pack and head home? But what would he do there? His planets were taken care of and Cadha was at his parents home, he had no school work since school would be ending in a few days and Lily wasn't about either. There was virtually nothing to do aside from go shopping, and he did that often anyway. Those reasons to stay done going through his mind he settled back, bottle capped and back in the cooler. He'd stay.

Being out on the water was one of the things he missed most about the Navy, and one of the things that made it difficult to live in Destiny City. Sure, he had a job now, like any normal civilian would take up after being honorably discharged, but he had to admit that teaching a bunch of teenagers about engineering could be boring. He doubted he'd teach for the rest of his life, but for now it worked.
A weekend at the beach was definitely something he needed after dealing with teenagers since the beginning of the school year, both normal and powered. Being out on the open ocean was preferred, but since his younger brother had decided to use his sailboat and then conveniently forget to refuel, Michael was stuck waiting until everything was prepared.
Not that the beach didn't have plenty of things to keep his interest. There were plenty of people whom he was sure he'd caught their attention, and he grinned in both confidence and amusement as a gaggle of girls giggled as they eyed him. He knew he looked good, after all. He worked out on a regular basis to stay fit, and his time in the sun enhanced his already naturally slightly-tanned skin. In nothing more than white and azure blue striped swim trunks, he ignored the girls as one tried waving for his attention. Ah, as fun as it would be to introduce himself to them, he wasn't all that interested in having them follow him back to the dock.
Instead, there was a game of beach volleyball that grabbed his interest. It was mostly men playing, while the women watched from the sides, save for a few who undoubtedly played on a regular basis, with the way they spiked the ball over the net.
And it was probably a good thing that he was half watching, too. Because after a particularly powerful spike and unsuccessful return, the ball ricochetted off the arm of the man diving for it and straight towards a young man reading under some umbrellas. A kind of cute young man at that.
Michael lunged for the ball, barely managing to stop it before it hit the spread towel, and popped it back towards the group. On his knees he was able to get a better look at the long haired young man, and flashed him a grin and wink. "Maybe I should hang around until they're done with their game," he suggested, wondering if he'd go for it or tell him to get lost. Hell, either way would be worth it to see the expression on those girls' faces. Ignoring them and talking to a boy. Ha.

The shock of movement, sudden and unexpected, caused the book he'd been holding to drop as he let out a sound of surprise. Eyes the color of slate came into view as his sunglasses slipped down his nose. Unlike most of the people here who were tan he was pale, almost ghostly in how he stood out against the sand and under the sun. But he was fit, running and his work as a negaverse agent was a good way to tone ones body. He wasn't buff by any means, his body would likely never be able to become such but Alexandre was no slouch and his body said as much, and it seemed some people had appreciated that but were as many were - ignored or unnoticed.
What he did notice was the person right in front of him and speaking to him. "Be my guest, though find your own towel." He didn't share, and he wasn't sharing his shade either if he could help it. Though it looked like the other liked the sun anyway.
"Are you offering in order to play knight in shining armor should they." Here he motioned with his head to the volleyball players. "Slip up again?" He asked. His cheeks by now a faint pink hue. Was this person flirting with him...? Pushing himself up, making sure he didn't bang his head on the underside of an umbrella, and offered something of a smile. "Alexandre Evans. And you?" Sunglasses were slipped back into place as he watched the other from behind the dark lenses.

"Michael Gallo," he said with another grin, pushing himself back to be able to sit in the sand and dust off his hands. "I don't like towels, anyway," he said with a shrug. At least not at the beach. Why bother going if not to roll around in the sand?
His hair was cut short, but not too short. Just enough to be brushed back, but nowhere near as shaggy as either of his younger brothers. It was easier, anyway. Being able to just wash and go. He wasn't into primping and preening like other members of his family.
The thing that amused him the most was that this guy was actually responding to him. He didn't even bother looking back towards the girls who had stopped their giggling and started whispering amongst themselves. Hell, he didn't even know what this guy liked. Maybe he was totally into chicks and was just indulging him... but he'd take it! Michael had nothing against flirting with a cute guy or girl, especially when he could piss a few others off.
"Are you here with anyone? You don't look like you'e, uh... all that into being here. No offense," he quickly added after looking Alexander over once or twice. He was definitely too pale to have seen a lot of sun. Maybe he was just taking it slow? Or maybe he just liked the beach scene and... not the sun or water. Michael himself had yet to jump into the water, but since he'd left his sunglasses on the boat, there was nothing to obstruct seeing just how bright blue his eyes were. One of his favorite features about himself, if one happened to ask.

Staring for a moment, he'd heard that last name twice now in recent times, and by recent he meant since Christmas. Whatever he'd have said about that was pushed away in favor of fixing his attention on the other. Hands blindly found his book and quickly glancing down he found where he had been, he hadn't gotten too far into the book, and marked the page. Folded over corner and the book was closed and set down.
While the other didn't like towels, or apparently umbrellas, Alexandre favored both as he disliked the sun and summer in general. If he could he'd have winter all the time, the only reason he didn't out right wish for it (not that a wish could gain him such a thing) was because of his plants. They needed the summer and all which came with it. How terrible a position he was placed in with that.
"No, I came alone...and no, the beach isn't my thing. However finding myself with nothing to do coming here took over before I could find something else to do." Running his fingers through his bangs, locks of ash blond hair fell back around his face like strands of silk. While the other male might not primp it was obvious he likely did, or at least he spent a good amount of time caring for his hair. With hair as long as his you really needed to anyway.
"If your one to believe in the fates." As obviously he didn't by the tone he used. "Then perhaps I wound up here for some reason." Crossing his legs, the dark blue swim trunks he wore was a good color for him, blue was likely a good color for him in general as he too thought his eyes were a good feature of his and he sought out to enhance them whenever he could. And was Alexandre perhaps, in some way, flirting...

"Are you from around here then?" he wondered curiously, grinning and lifting a chin to the noisy girls who'd been eyeing him, as if to say 'sup?' Clearly he wasn't going to talk to them and they seemed to finally take the hint.
But his attention was quickly brought back to Alexandre when he mentioned fates, letting out a short laugh. "Why? So we can blame our misfortunes and mistakes on a higher power?" It wasn't a topic that upset him, though. In fact, he was quite amused by the thought of fate bringing people to certain places. It made things seem... convenient. "It'd be nice to believe that everything we did was part of a bigger plan, but I'm not much of a fan of being controlled, even by my own fate," he offered, meaning it only as something to think about, careful with the way he spoke so as not to sound insulting.
It reminded him too much of the Surrounding. When they all prayed for a higher power to save them. It wasn't fair that they cast off all their failures for a divine being to save them... Whether or not they were saved as such, or somehow converged their magic together at the last minute, even he didn't know. But he preferred not relying on anyone but himself.
"But since you're here," he circled the topic back to the beginning. "Maybe it is good that fate put me in place to stop that ball. I doubt you'd want sand all over you," he observed, eyeing the young man with amusement. Easy on the eyes, at least. "What are you reading?"

"Destiny City, so close but not all that close. And yourself?" Hmm, interesting. Someone who had a similar opinion on the whole fate thing, that was nice to know. Though it wasn't an uncommon opinion. A glance over his own shoulder to a gaggle of girls, purposefully letting his glasses slip down his nose while slate eyes narrowed into a glare.
Turning around, his glasses falling off as he turned his head a bit too quickly. Falling right into his lap the dark glasses were left there, his cheeks heating up as a noticeable blush covered his fair skin. "No, I'm not fond of sand. Water is fine but sand and sun." Obviously he was more the sort to like a pool than a beach or the ocean, or any other body of water that wasn't contained by something man made.
"I was just staring The Count of Monte Cristo." A motion to the book, leather bound but not old. One of those special leather bound books, with gold edged pages and writing on the cover and binding, that you could often find at Barnes and Nobel. Nothing special but a classic, and of an interest to him so when seeing it he'd had to purchase it to read, he was only just getting around to it.

"Dumas, huh? I'm more of a Three Musketeers fan," he said with another small wink. So this guy was into reading classics, or perhaps he was just reading it for the heck of it? Either way, there were many things he could have been doing that weren't as refined and noble. Michael wasn't all that much of a reader himself, but he had picked up his fair share of classics to pass the days off duty at sea when there was nothing better to do.
Usually he did find something better to do, but that wasn't the point.
"Good ol' DC, huh?" he laughed, although that might have been more for his own insights into the city than the fact that they were from the same place. "I live there now. Not entirely used to it. Getting used to living in one place isn't as easy as I thought."
Not that it was horrible living in the same city as his family, especially when he got his own house. He missed the sea, but knew he was ready for other things in his live.
And he wasn't going to end up like his father, in the same job for the rest of his life.
"So your girlfriend doesn't mind that you came out here all by yourself?" he baited, curious as to Alexandre's answer. The blushing was rather endearing, although he could very well be mistaking that for a sunburn. He was pale enough to just... absorb the light.

"I've never read that one. I sort of pick and choose. I don't let the author decide for me what I read. I also don't normally read works of fiction, though I do have a collection of fiction books." He also had a collection of books on plants and world art. Then there were the cook books he had, those were in the kitchen for easy access.
'"Good? Considering it more or less resembles a war zone I'd rethink that comment." There was something there, a distaste for what was becoming of the city he'd grown up and lived in. Was the other being sarcastic when he called it good though? Alexandre disliked what was happening, homes and streets, buildings, destroyed and people hurt that were innocent and not intended to be hurt. It was all disliked by him, energy draining was all well and good but ruining a persons home or place of work...or anything else beyond energy draining was too far in his opinion.
"Getting used to one place, you travel?" He asked, a spark in his eyes as he wondered about that. Someone well traveled interested him, for several reasons. Most people who traveled had interesting stories but also took in various cultures and were more...worldly for lack of a better term, or perhaps he could say more open he could also say well cultured.
Shaking his head he found himself laughing. "Girlfriend? Even if I had one her opinion on how or where I spent my free time wouldn't matter to me in the slightest, I assure you. Seeing as I'm hardly the sort to cheat she'd have no reason to worry, and so her opinion wouldn't matter or effect me and my free time." No one would decide how he spent his free time, he earned his free time and spent it how he pleased. As far as a relationship went he didn't think the whole clinging thing was his cup of tea, he saw it enough with couples that seemed to always be talking, texting, in each other company. It made him wonder if they had lives separate from the other. "Beyond that I don't find the female form attractive in the least. I'm gay." And confident enough to come right out and say it and without flushing further.
"Why ask about a girlfriend though...unless...are you curious about my preference?" Venturing to question the other, a single brow raised as he asked this.

"Me neither. Not all the way at least," he admitted with a shrug. Hey, just because he picked up books didn't mean he finished them. "Saw some of the movies, though. I'd watch those again." At least he was educated in literature enough to know the author... Or that was what he was going to go with.
Michael's mouth twitched at the corner, his grin growing as Alexandre took his sarcasm rather seriously. Of course he didn't think Destiny City was good. It was horrible. There wer monsters and s**t everywhere. Not exactly his idea of a party city. But since the guy seemed to have realized he was just joking, he made no effort to explain himself.
"Used to," he said with another grin in Alexandre's direction. "I was in the Navy for a handful years, so yeah I guess you could say I've traveled. Right out of high school," he explained, not going into detail about just how long ago that was. He wasn't old by any means, but saying that he was in the military for almost eight years... it tended to make people think he was a lot older than he really was. "I plan on getting out of here as soon as I get some of my school work done. Maybe up the coast for a week or so."
It wasn't exactly a trip around the world, but it was a chance to get out of Destiny City.
His grin grew once more at Alexandre's confirmation that he was, in fact, gay. "I didn't want to assume," he said with a small laugh, especially at the look he was getting from him. "I'm guessing there's no boyfriend back home then too, is there?" It was more of a teasing, rhetorical question, but if Alexandre felt the need to answer, Michael wasn't going to stop him.

"I'd count the Navy as traveling. Maybe not as cultured as jet setters but still cultured more than most who never leave the city." Any sort of getting away and exploring, seeing other places, was better than nothing if you asked Alexandre. He was one who wanted to travel, more, and see more of the world. He could have always asked his parents for the financial backing to go on a trip but with his position in the Negaverse he really couldn't. The war took precedence over seeing the world. Eventually he hoped the war would end, easy to tell how he hoped it ended, and then he would travel.
"What made you decide to join the Navy? And why the service at all? Most you'd think, right out of high school, would rather party and act like children." A glare shot over his shoulder as some of the older crowd on the beach seemed to pick up in volume. It was almost out of habit that as his eyes narrowed his nose found itself up in the air in a rather distinct manner. Such childish behavior and so loud.
"Unfortunately I don't have any plans for the summer aside from remaining in Destiny. I'd have made plans had I a companion, but my best friend and roommate is off to do some summer schooling elsewhere so I've found myself rather alone and thus without plans." Something of a sadness and note of loneliness colored his words and his face as he turned back to the other. He was sure he could do a short vacation, a week or two weeks. It wasn't like he couldn't teleport into the city to do something if he was needed. But getting some time out of the city, a vacation, would be nice. But with looking for a job also...if he found one it would make things impossible really unless he could drive to and from work. "Add to it I'm looking for a job, I'm rather in need of one." It felt wrong living on his own, unfortunate really, and not having one to at least look like he was supporting himself rather than relying on his parents for everything.
"School work...? What sort?" Leaning forward, back arching, he went to rummage in his collar. Coming up with the wet and cold bottle of red juice he'd brought for himself he chanced a glance to the other. "Water?" Showing he had a unopened water bottle also.
Cheeks colored and his head was shaken. Biting his lip he wondered how to answer this, this was barely trod upon territory for him. "No, I've actually never dated. Too picky perhaps, and busy. And no one I'm interested in either." Watching the other now he tilted his head just a bit, letting his bangs scatter across his face.

"I didn't exactly join with the intention of becoming cultured," he said with a shrug, although it wasn't anything he was insulted about or thought was a big deal. He'd just joined for reasons other than to see the world. Sure, it was a plus to be able to say 'I went there', but there was a lot more to it than that.
"Oh, believe me. The Navy throws some wild parties. While off duty, of course," he added with a wink. Hey, he wasn't dumb enough to risk being court-martialed for something as stupid as drinking on duty. Talk about an embarrassment. "My father's in the Navy. I'd wanted to do it since I was a kid. Don't mind them," he added with a jerk of his head towards the loud group of probably college students. "They just want the attention." He would know. He wanted the attention, too.
He nodded in understanding at the mention of needing a job. "Yes, well... That's a little difficult with the economy," he said, shrugging again. He lucked out with his current job, but his interests changed often, so who knew how long he would be there.
"I teach at Azure. Engineering and mechanics. Nerdy stuff for nerdy high schoolers more interested in winning science fairs than drugs and alcohol. Most of them, anyway. Ah, to be young," he teased, hoping that Alexandre didn't think he was that much older. He didn't look all that old to begin with!
"Thanks," he said, reaching out for the water bottle, figuring it would be rude not to accept his offer, and added with an amused grin, "You should go out with me some time. It's a waste that you haven't. You're cute, and I'm decently interesting and attractive, otherwise I'm sure you would have shooed me on my way by now." Cocky? Just a bit.

"Parties and drinking aren't my thing, I've had one embarrassing encounter with alcohol and don't plan to repeat it." He had no tolerance from the stuff, but he'd never drank before, and considering what he'd consumed that evening in the youma run bar.
"Indeed, the economy is bad, I can only be thankful that I have my parents who make good money - my mother especially. So if I should fail I'll be taken care of. You teach, that's interesting. How is it, how are the kids?" Azure, he could have gotten in there but had turned down his mother when she'd brought it up to him. It wasn't that he didn't like the idea of a private school he just didn't like one with dorms or anything of the sort, he really had no intentions of being away from home for so long and away from his plants. He didn't mention it though, it was a little thing really and had happened back when he'd first started high school.
Finding himself warm in the cheeks he sniffed once and turned his head to the side while brushing his fingers through his loose hair. "I'm more than cute...and I'll consent the point about yourself. What would you do if we went out? Would it simply be a date between...friends or more?" He asked, while turning to the other and tilting his head some.
"If your interested in dating that is...I don't do open relationships or anything." Already assuming, maybe just a little, and laying out the one major rule - closed relationship. "You are right though, if you were less interesting or unattractive I'd have already told you to leave. But since your neither uninteresting nor unattractive you have my attention."

Michael grinned in amusement at the mention of an 'embarrassing encounter' with alcohol, but he didn't push for more information. He could probably guess that it wasn't pretty, and why would a near complete stranger want to share embarrassing stories with him? Then again... some people really just couldn't help but spill their guts everywhere, but this guy didn't seem like the type.
"Teaching is fine. My class is really an elective, so I can do whatever I want, just as long as we still win awards at the science fair." He vaguely wondered if that made him sound like a nerd, but then he decided that he really didn't care what this guy thought. He was nice to look at, wasn't flighty and annoying, and he hadn't shooed him away just yet.
His grin widened, laughing lightly at the comment about open relationships. "Wow, you really haven't dated before, have you...?" he wondered, his bright eyes twinkling at the idea of dating Alexandre for real. "I'm not asking for a relationship, you know... just a date. I'll even pay," he added with a wink. "But for your peace of mind, I will not go on a date with any other young man or woman as long as we still have a mutual attraction and desire be in each other's company."
He was overdramatizing it on purpose, and he wondered if Alexandre minded his sense of humor, but it wouldn't really matter either way. Instead, he pulled out his phone from the pocket of his shorts and pulled up a page for a new contact. "I'll show you mine if you show me yours," he grinned, offering the phone to him so he could key the information in, himself.

He might spill certain things, especially when dealing with senshi and trying to get them to see things in another point of view, but his experience with alcohol would not be getting spilled. That night was rather embarrassing and a lot messy. It was something only one other person would know of in fact, and he doubted they would tell anyone about that. They had no reason to, nothing to gain from it. Everyone had issues the first time they drink, especially if they drink a lot like he had.
"Winning awards isn't a bad thing, though considering they only get them for science fairs, makes it seem like that's all their world revolves around - science fair awards." Rolling his eyes. Everyone knew that school was home to such students. Someone really should try and corrupt some of them, and not in the sense of grab their starseed and corrupt it sort of corruption, get them into something beyond academics and science. He doubted it would happen though, that such a corruption would work or take, they seemed happy little nerds; at least as far as he could gather having had little experience in the past with students from that particular school.
"No, I've been too preoccupied to indulge in such." Negaverse obligations and hs worry over dating someone on the other side, or some civilian who may get dragged into this war due to him. It was as of late that he had decided, when these thoughts had started he couldn't pin point, to let loose on such standards. Though if he found out they were on the other side...he wasn't quite sure what he'd do really.
"A regular prince charming." Smirking at the other and even giving a wink he turned to the powder blue suede tote bag he had and went digging about for his own phone. When he shifted to face the other, sun glasses having fallen down between his legs as they'd parted when he shifted position and sent his glasses falling down from his lap to between his legs, he pulled up his add contacts and offered his phone over to the other.
"A date sounds good. If it works than perhaps a second? I'll think of something for it even." He offered, since Michael would be planning this first one.
