It hadn't been all that long ago that Elleth had celebrated her survival as an untrained student to a weapon trainee. But what she hadn't known was that the trainee's started to help train the next generation of potential weapons. It was a terrifying task as she was still learning her own strengths and weaknessess and she knew that she was absolutely rubbish now in sparring matches. Well, sparring matches against people she'd rarely fought against.
Her foster family excluded. They still wiped the ground with her.
As it was the young Oblivionite stood in her old outfit in training grounds Alpha 3, a little ways away from the normal training areas, waiting for her...student...to arrive. She didn't know who was being tested, herself or the poor creature told to meet her here. Nervously she stroked the flat of her blade, which had been thrust into the ground, wrappings included. The wait was starting to get to her.

The fiasco with the Ysali dragon and prompted Kilian to find some help. He needed to train and perfect his skills if he was to ever take on a dragon again. So he had searched the city for someone to help him. He had asked around, finally finding someone that said he'd set something up for him at a certain time. All he had to do was show up at the training grounds.
The man didn't give Kilian a name or even really tell him anything about the one that would train him. He really hoped that he could help him. Kilian was desperate. As usual, with anything new, his nerves began to bother him. He stiffened his spine and made his way into the training grounds and stopped dead in his tracks. Despite the blindfold, Kilian could see that only one person occupied the vast grounds. And that someone was a girl. "You've got to be kiding me." He grumbled as he stood where he stopped.

Nerves made Elleth do one of three things, break stuff, chew on her lips, or clean. Seeing as how there was nothing to break or clean she settled on mangling her already chapped lips. She'd barely begun to taste the metallic tang of blood when movement caught her eye. There across the field stood a young boy clad in a bronze-yellow and black with a blindfold across his eyes. She saw his lips move but couldn't make out what he'd said.
Straightening Elleth motioned him forward and moved to stand in front of her sword, hands folded behind her back. "Welcome. Are you the Year 1 that I'm supposed to spar with?" She asked, resisting the urge to fidget and generally look weak in front of the boy. Boy. Honestly listen to her. She wasn't that much older then him and already she was starting to look down on him because of his age.
"I'm Elleth a Year Two sword trainee. I hope I can be of some help to you today."

"I suppose I am." Kilian said as he fidgeted with his cap. "Sword trainee?" He tilted, confused. He had no weapon to fight with. Just his fists. He looked down at his fists, clenching them as he did so. To someone who didn't now him and how his senses worked, this might have been a strange sight. Would he be able to fight this other Oblivionite with just his fists? Looking back up and over at her sword he started to have second thoughts.
"I..I guess I'm ready." He nodded decisively. He had to do this. No if, ands or buts.

Elleth had to wonder if she'd been this nervous, this show of false bravery when she'd been his age. "I wont fight you with my sword. It would be unfair and this is only a sparring match. The results are a test for us both, it's purpose to show us our weakness, not to see who can pummel the other into the ground better." She said softly, turning to pull her sword out of the ground. Walking a few feet away she laid it down and moved farther away from where she'd started out.
"We'll fight over here, less chance for someone to trip over that and slice a foot off." The comment was said so casually it was hard to tell if Elleth was joking or not. "Now come over here and get into your stance, I will go after you are really ready."
With that the lavender haired girl dropped into a stance that was both familiar and now alien to her, her palms held flat and away from her body.

Kilian let out a breath he hadn't known he was holding when she informed him she would not be using her sword. He had really worried there for a bit. He watched Elleth get into her stance, wondering what he should be doing and how he should be standing. Moving over to stand where she indicated he remembered that he had yet to introduce himself. "My name's Kilian, by the way." He said as he took a stance that told of his inexperience. He really had no clue what he was doing.
"I am ready whenever you are." Kilian's voice shock a bit with the nervousness that he was feeling. He hoped that he did alright for his first training session.

Elleth's gazes darted over Kilian's form and mentally winced at all the openings she saw. Well there was the reason why she was asked to come here. Of course it had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that she was tricked into agreeing by her Master, or threatened with painfully humiliating tasks unless she held her word. Nooooo of course not.
"I'll be going first then." She said formally, with a small grin. She didn't plan on exploiting any of his weaknesses, instead she opted to test what few sturdy spots she could see. It would be bad sport if she just obliterated him without showing him how to correctly defend himself.
With a silent exhale she shot off at a speed he should have been able to easily follow and struck out with her palms, testing his balance first.

His stiff muscles, however, were not very cooperative and he took a hit from her rather quickly. "Damn it." He muttered as he staggered back from the hit. He couldn't let his anger get the best of him though, so he took a deep breath to try and calm himself. Losing his temper the first time training would not be a good thing. He needed patience in order for him to better himself at fighting. Regaining his footing he raised his fists up, ready to strike back. She waited while he struggled, the anger that he was suppressing made her pause. Something must have gone wrong for him to be angry after the first hit. But he seemed to gather himself quickly if the return strike was anything to go by. Flinching Elleth resisted the urge to rub her arms where his strike hit. She was sure that the skin there would be a lovely bruise come morning.
"That's right, channel your anger into your attacks. It makes you powerful." She murmured, knowing this for a fact. Many a dragon had died beneath her black rages. The problem was mustering up the anger and sustaining it long enough for the damage to be dealt.
She shifted to one side and jabbed out at his sides, still testing his balance.

Kilian listened to Elleth, using what she said. Anger. Was it really all that simple? If so, after a bit of practice, battling dragons would be a piece of cake. He knew, though, that that wasn't all it would take. He'd have to learn to concentrate better. Hone his skills and learn to be quick on his feet. And above all else, he needed to learn to be discreet.
He watched as she moved closer, trying to anticipate her next attack. Just as her fist was about to make contact he quickly side stepped, avoiding the jab that would have hit him in the side. Eyes widening beneath his blindfold, Kilian was surprised at having actually avoided the female's attack. Maybe this wouldn't be as hard as he thought it would. He readied his legs, intending to give a swift kick.

If only she could see her own face she would have been startled by the smile that curled her lips. It was...gentle and filled with pride and would have been wiped away the moment she noticed it. "Very good, just like that." She murmured again, blocking his kick with her forearms.
This time she didn't wait to let him regain his balance, her hands darted out intent on smacking him on the leg.

Kilian smiled and was proud of himself even though Elleth had managed to block his attack. He was doing so much better than he ever imagined he would do the first time battling another. He took in a deep breath and let it out slowly, focusing on all the things around him.
As her hands shot out, he brought his down, blocking her palms from making contact with his leg. "I don't think so! He growled as he smirked and shoved her hands away, going for a jab to her stomach.

"You don't seem hopeless." Elleth commented as the boy blocked her attack and tried to counter when her hands were out of range for her normal methods of blocking. She shifted her arms and absorbed the glancing blow then shot a hand out towards his stomach.

Kilian grunted as he took the blow to his stomach. He couldn't help the smile that played across his lips though. She thought he wasn't hopeless. That was something, considering he had so failed at his first dragon hunt. He had been putting himself down since then and had only just decided he needed to find help and fast. Taking a page out of his...teacher's...book he opened his palms and quickly shot them out towards Elleth's chest.

Elleth snickered as Kilian attempted to copy her move and easy dodged the clumsy attack. "Your fingers have to be stiff and you have to thrust from your core." She said, demonstrating it by aiming an open palmed attack to his center. She was thrilled that he was learning from her and that his moves were getting better as he grew more confident in his own abilities.
