Bell was happily harvesting some berries from a wild berry bush, examining each one carefully before placing it in her bag. Berry-picking was her favorite past time, and she protected her bushes most jealously. She was a hot-tempered bird, as likely to attack on sight as to start a conversation. Of course, being a wild pokemon, she especially did not appreciate trainers trespassing on her territory... If they weren't trying to capture her, they were trying to take all of her berries!

Lenore and Mephistopheles wandered about, looking for berries. Mephistopheles hadn't been having much luck in battles recently, so they had no money. A noise from a nearby bush drew their attention.

Bell's eyes widened in surprise as she came upon a human and her pokemon, and then narrowed quickly into an icy glare. Once again, people were coming into the wild to bother her! They should have known better. She was ready to teach them a lesson! She burst out from behind the bushes, waddling as quickly as she could toward Mephisto. "(Get lost! These are my bushes!)" she snapped to the ghost.

The ghost pokemon looked at the delibird calmly. "My apologies. If it were just me, I would leave, however, even above my honor, I will protect this girl. So if you will not allow us to take a few berries, I'm afraid I shall be forced to press the issue."
Turning to Lenore, the duskull gave a short wave, which the small girl took to mean they were having a match. She smiled and moved away to give them some space.
The duskull turned back to the delibird. "Well then. Let us begin." A jet of blue flame shot forward from Mephistopheles' hand.

Bell squawked loudly, more in surprise than pain, as she was given a lingering burn. Her temper, always so close to the surface, was abruptly brought to a boil. She dropped her bag of berries and threw herself wordlessly forward at the ghost pokemon in a Thief attack, intending to steal back any berries he might have taken before she had caught him.

Mephistopheles was slammed into the ground by the attack, but he had no berries. His eye glowed as rainbow colored lights appeared.

Bell blinked multiple times, but her vision remained blurry; the world seemed to tilt. She was very confused, but her anger remained, making things even worse. Not even sure who she was attacking, she flailed forward with another Thief attack.

Somehow she was able to focus long enough to find the ghost pokemon and swung a flipper-like wing toward him, pure rage and stubbornness egging her on.

Bell clicked her beak ominously, rounding on Mephisto yet again. It felt great to allow herself to fall into a blind rage, and was even more gratifying that her super powerful attacks were landing on target. It wasn't often, out in the wild, that she got to release her frustrations like this. The burn from the will-o-wisp was hurting worse than ever, though, which made her even more upset. She resorted to her favorite attack, rather than the smarter Thief attack that she had begun with. A huge ball of solid ice flew out of her beak quite suddenly.

Just as Bell hit herself and snapped back out of confusion, she has the misfortune to look directly in Mephisto's eyes; her own slid out of focus yet again. It occurred to her confused mind that Mephisto might have stolen another berry while she hadn't been looking, and sought to take it back immediately.

She swung her wing down toward the skeletal red face with renewed vigor! The ghost had already heavily weakened her, but she was too enraged to do anything but continue the assault.

The wing hit with crushing force, and the shadows erupted in an all-encompassing darkness. Mephistopheles phased away and flew over to Lenore, grabbing her by the hand. Shadows cloaked them as Mephistopheles phased them both into the ghost world to escape. ------------------ Moments later, they returned to the material world, panting. The ghost world wasn't meant for the living, after all. But it was better than dying, and Mephistopheles was under no illusions that the delibird wouldn't have killed them. Lenore looked over at the exhausted duskull, color drained from her small face. " Well, we got some berries. Want one?" Mephistopheles gratefully accepted the extended berry, eating it quickly before moving on with Lenore.
