It was official - the Weyrlings were now seniors, it had happened all to fast for Mercy but she had to remind herself that she had not become involved with this batch of Weyrlings until they were a good bit along anyways. In any case she was well aware that the all important first flight was quickly approaching and in that vein she had set up a small lesson.

The lesson would be two pronged...one lesson for the dragons and then a lesson for the riders while their's rested. 'Will you be okay over seeing the little ones?' Mercy asked Aerith as they made their way to the meeting point. 'Of course, Dragons are born for this sort of things - they ought to pick up on it quite quickly!' Aerith assured her rider.

The lesson today was going to take part near the topside lake where most of the dragons bathed. There a small ledge had been created over time, a rocky outcropping that sloped gently on one side but fell off sharply on the other..it wasn't high persay but it would give young dragons enough lift to glide and flap a bit over the meadow.

At the bottom of the ledge Mercy directed the Weyrfolk who had helped her where to drop the containers which contained the second part of the lesson.

O'thor arrived early to the lesson, but he was aware that he would be the first. Since he had come late to the first lesson the Assistant Weyrlingmaster had run, he had made sure to be punctual to all of the lessons following it. He wasn't a slacker; he had thought long and hard about how badly he didn't want people to perceive him in that light, and then had acted on it.

He looked for his roommate, but didn't see K'rit anywhere. The fellow Silverrider must still be wrapped up in something. If he didn't show soon, O'thor would have Adamanth bespeak Tormth to try to draw him in.

Beside him, Adamanth looked down at his rider, his eyes a whirl of calming blue and green. He had grown so much in the last few months that it still surprised O'thor sometimes. They will not be late. We will ask them to come on time if they are not here shortly.

O'thor nodded and turned his attention to Mercy and the drudges helping her when he got near. "Hello, Assistant Weyrlingmaster." He inclined his head respectfully while Adamanth avidly inspected the boxes and drudges with his senses of sight and smell, trying to determine their lesson for the day.

The next pair to arrive were C'rci and Bolth, the good natured dragon bounding ahead slightly to loop back around to his slower rider. Chuckling at her companions antics C'rci lifted a hand resting it against Bolth's side as the two came to a stop next to O'thor and Adamanth giving the pair a nod in greeting.

"Good morning you two." C'rci said then turned to Mercy and Aerith. "Good morning to you as well Assistant Weyrlingmaster." She added with a smile Bolth friendly as ever bounding over to his silver brother to croon out a greeting.

Good morning Adamanth. Do you know what we will be doing today? Bolth questioned tilting his head, the blue's tone warm and open as he looked to his silver brother.

What are all these people and containers here for? Both asked turning to look at the drudges and bugle out a cheerful greeting to them his eyes whirling a merry blue and green. He rather loved large crowds even if his more reserved rider preferred to hang back.

Still even C'rci's curiosity was getting the better of her as she looked the containers over her mind a whirl wondering what they were for. "Weyrlingmaster Mercy? What exactly are we doing today?" She finally asked, never one to beat around the bush.

As with all lessons, Ralla and Firith were eager to attend and get started. Every lesson was a chance for them to prove how much better they were than their classmates at every task large and small. They practiced constantly in their off-hours, wearing themselves to exhaustion and back again, and any opportunity to show where it had gotten them was welcome.

The fiery green and her rider jogged to the lesson, but not to avoid being late - why just walk when you could get in a little exercise? They arrived in time to hear C'rci's question, and after a moment of surveying their surroundings, Ralla was quick to guess, "Flying, I bet."

Really, wasn't it obvious? Look at that ledge!

"Yes because there's clearly nothing else we might want to know before we go throwing ourselves off of ledges." C'rci replied her voice light and touched with sarcastic humor even as she quirked an eyebrow at the green and her rider with a smile. Turning her attention back to the boxes her brows knit together in a small curious frown.

"And it can't be manned flight that's for sure. Not unless those boxes are hiding harnesses. Which from the number of them I rather doubt that. They could hold pieces though." C'rci mused tilting her head slightly as she considered what was before her.

Good morning sister. Bolth chirruped to his green sibling seeming to be as cheerful as ever this morning as he looped back around to rub up against his rider's side affectionately, peering around her at Ralla and Firith.

Scratching Bolth's eyeridges affectionately C'rci shrugged. "I suppose we'll find out for sure here shortly." The red haired weyrling added with a shrug resigning herself to wait.

Was C'rci...snarking at her? Like she knew a sharding thing! Ralla's lip curled in distaste. "I never said we were throwing ourselves off the ledge, or that we were flying, too. All I said was 'flying' - don't put words in my mouth."

Firith bristled, mirroring her rider's annoyance. No one talked down to Hers! The green's eyes whirled red-orange, and she turned her nose up at Bolth, pointedly ignoring his greeting. Hers was irritated with His, and therefore she would be irritated with him and His. She and Hers were always on the same page - whichever one was angry, and whatever it was about, it was practically a guarantee that the other would feel the same.

After greetings those whom had arrived with a smile and warm 'hello' Mercy had gone about making sure that all the equipment she had requested had been delivered and thanking the drudges for their help in getting it here. Aerith had been keeping a peaceful eye on the students while this was taking place and blew out a slight warning when the snipping started up. She wasn't a large dragon it was true - but she was still larger then the hatchlings and their riders before her and standing she eyed them all sternly.

'Enough' The white dragon demanded, broadcasting her words to everyone present 'There is enough to fight in this world without arguing with one another' She told the gathered students and dragons. Of course the whites unrest had drawn Mercy's attention and turning she arched a brow slightly.

"Aerith speaks truth, your all going to fly together someday, rely on each other for your very lives - you'll be closer then family and should respect each other as such" Of course fights and arguments would occur but Mercy wanted to mold the students into as strong of a team as she could before they had to face Thread. Doing so would up their chances of survival she thought. Softening her look slightly she answered the question which had started the slight fuss to begin with. "The dragons will be flying, well..gliding really to start strengthening their wing muscles, you riders will be learning the basics of leather care in preparation for manned flight in the near future."

Morgaine was late to the lessons. With Palooth running behind her practically pushing on the back of her legs as they moved, and nearly tripped her in the process several times, the pair hurried to the place where today's lesson was to take place. She knew she was late, it had been Palooth's persistent nudging that finally pulled her away from her work but even then the dragon hadn't managed to pull her away in time. "You should have listened to me earlier." Palooth told her as they rushed. Morgaine rolled her eyes slightly, she knew she should have but whenever she was deep in research it was hard to stop even with her beloved dragon being the one to tell her it was time to go.

As they arrived Morgaine saw that Mercy was just starting their lesson. Good, she wasn't completely late. Casting an apologetic look at her friend for being late Morgaine found a good spot to stand a wait, her hand caressing Palooth's head as she listened to Mercy.

O'thor looked on dispassionately as Ralla took offense to C'rci's likely-meant-to-be-teasing comment, but said nothing. He had decided a long time ago not to get involved in squabbles he wasn't already a part of. That just invited more trouble he didn't need, especially when it was a silly argument.

Adamanth, on the other hand, felt the same as Aerith and would have said something had the White not spoken up before him. Arguing over hurt feelings was a waste of time. Period. It was good that Aerith's had begun the lesson.

O'thor tried not to smile at this unspoken, but much felt, opinion. That was Adamanth all right. Opinionated. His eyes focused on Mercy, waiting for her instructions so that they could begin practicing. Now that Adamanth was a Senior Weyrling, his adult size was clearly beginning to show and the health concerns he'd had as a Junior Weyrling were behind them. Slowly but surely, Adamanth was molding them into a fine pair-- in the ways he saw best, of course. O'thor corrected him where necessary, but it would be foolish to think that Adamanth didn't have the majority of control in their learning at this point. O'thor just tried to keep up (not a hard task as long as he didn't let himself fall too deep into internal pondering).

Ralla wasn't someone to be teased; that would have required some small measure of humility, of which Ralla had absolutely none. She took herself far, far too seriously. Add in that she had harbored a lingering dislike for C'rci since the Hatching, anyway, and...some things were inevitable. She grimaced when told to stop, crossing her arms over her chest. "The day she's my family, I'll eat my rank knots."

We will not rely on them, Firith agreed, voicing this not only to Aerith, but to the other Weyrlings. They will rely on us.

C'rci resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the irritate green rider and instead briefly cast her gaze upward as if trying to summon a greater span of patience to deal with her fellow rider. Really the girl bristled and spat at everything like a wet feline, her dragon wasn't much better. Neither of them seemed capable of taking a joke to save their life. It didn't help the girl seemed to particularly enjoy trying to get on her nerves.

Mine. They're not worth it. I'm sure my sister has merely had a bad morning. Bolth assured his rider, unable to see the bad even in the prickly green who was currently snubbing him. Instead he settled for giving his sister a polite nod and leaving her to stew.

C'rci in turn resting her hand on Bolth's neck took a deep breath and bit her tongue at Mercy's words. If Ralla wanted to waste her energy on pointless anger and childish fits she'd let her. She had much more important things to attend to.

A small grin broke across C'rci face when her suspicions were confirmed. So those boxes did hold leather and riding gear! Her small grin broadened into a smile at the thought of being in the air soon, her and Bolth had been training constantly to build up their strength and both were eager to do their best. All and all Ralla's irritation had almost been completely forgotten.

That is until that poison tongued wherry and her dragon decided to open their mouths. Now C'rci could be patient, really she could, but those comments earned a borderline pitying glare from the girl. Was she really so proud that she'd risk endangering the whole Weyr over such a trivial matter?

Really Firith? Everyone needs a little help dear sister. There is no shame in sharing the load. Bolth reasoned, ever the peace maker as he offered his sibling a warm thrumming croon. Shifting his head slightly he nuzzled his own rider, feeling her anger swirl through the pair as her grip tightened on his neck.

While she was perhaps looking forward to getting into the air he rather disliked the idea of being separated from her side even if they were within sight of one another. They had waited so long to fly together he felt rather guilty to take to the air without her.

"It's fine Bolth." C'rci assured her dragon and herself. After all the best revenge was success and if Firith and her's wanted to act like spoiled brats well then she'd let them. After all she'd never been one for beating around the bush. They disliked each other, so what? She could sharding get the between and back over it.

It only took a moment for Morgaine to realize that her late arrival meant she had missed something, there was bickering among some of the others and their dragons. That she had not expected. Sibling rivalry yes, it could happen, but this seemed to go even beyond that. They were supposed to be a team, even though Morgaine wasn't the most social of people she certainly understood the importance of teamwork. "They shouldn't be fighting like that Mine." The black said to her, concerned that his siblings and theirs were fighting. Morgaine gently stroked the dragons eye ridges and nodded in agreement.

Instead of adding fuel to the fire by getting involved in the arguement Morgaine simply waited for it to their fizzle out or for Mercy and Aerith to put an end to it. They were all here for lessons and they should not let such things get in the way of them.
