I need to find a better title for this... This being my Metroid Prime crossover fic that I love so much. I'm posting it up in here to get some good reviews for it, good being constructive ones, I've been TOTALLY burned before, and I don't mind. Just one more bump in the road...

This is rated PG-13... Really! ^^;;; hehe...

There were no sounds...
There was nothing but the sound of her footsteps and her breathing, and no one around to hear it but her.
Samus Aran stepped carefully from the ruined chambers behind her, taking a deep breath and closing her ears to the sound of her own heartbeat.
The Research Lab...
If only she had been comfortable enough with this place to close her eyes to the creatures in the tanks.
"Two dead pirates, a lot of blood, and one pirate that's still very much alive." She murmured to herself. The Pirate was lying on the ground, but it was very much alive. Samus began to scan the area with her scan visor, keeping her power beam cannon on the fallen Space Pirate.
"So many creatures tortured...if you didn't bleed, I'd doubt you had hearts." She hissed in the direction of the Space Pirate, he replied in his own language, breathless and near death.
"Samus Aran, we were creating things to take you down...you are the only one Mother Brain sees as an obstacle in this journey to the top of the food chain. Every creature here was designed to take down the metal clad Hunter..."
"You cannot design something already alive..." Samus muttered, continuing to scan. Another tank caught her eye, making her move forward, the cannon not moving from it's spot. "What's this? You creeps couldn't fulfill your sick fantasies with creatures from your own world, so you took one from mine?"
She ran her gloved fingers over the front of the tank, painful tears in her eyes.
"You're human..." She whispered to him. It was the first time in a long time that tshe had seen another human...and for the first time in years, seeing what they had done to him...
She was crying.
"You...heartless bastards. What have you done to him?" She whispered again. The Space Pirate took a deep, rasping breath.
"He took the Phazon well...We had hoped for as much..." He began to laugh, and Samus didn't try at all to calm her temper. Charging her beam cannon, she blew a hole through his chest, watching in satisfaction as he slumped backwards in a pool of his own foul blood. After a few seconds, she turned back to the tank, looking up.
"You're...really not too hard on the eyes. It's just too bad I've got no time for..."
/Samus, stop making excuses./
She finished scanning, her hopes sinking as she read reports and logs about the experiments.
"All dead, or failed, it seems. Damn it. I guess that means I am leaving you here. A cadaver is no use to me." She turned back to him, looking up at him for a few seconds longer before she sighed. "You deserve a proper burial...You deserve to be taken away from here, from them."
She may have been a bounty hunter, but she wasn't heartless or foolish enough to leave him to rot in a tank on an empty Space Pirate frigate.
The controls were easy enough to figure out, and she soon had the tank emptied and opened.
He was light enough, most of his weight in the muscles he carried quite well on a rather slim frame. Samus sat there, looking down at him, thinking of how incredibly lonely she never knew she had been before.
She was afraid to touch him...
/You've touched so many awful t hings before, Samus, why are you afraid to touch a man?/
Her fingers brushed his cool cheek, and a frown spread across her face.
Cool...not cold...
Not like Death.
"You're alive." She murmured, gathering him suddenly in her arms. "You're alive, you poor thing..."
His chest rose and fell gently against hers, his pulse slow but strong. Samus felt her own pulse pounding, staring down at the man...the only other human for miles, she was sure...
For lightyears.
"Keep breathing. C'mon, keep breathing." She lifted him gently, turning and beginning to run back towards her ship.
The unmistakeable sound of Space Pirates came to her as she slid over rubble in the next room, pulling the unconscious male with her. Taking a deep breath, she lay him on the ground, powering up her cannon again.
/Lead them away.../
She walked slowly out into the open, eyes narrowed, prepared to fire at anything that came towards her. That's when the shaking began...
Loud footsteps began to pound towards them, towards the room, as Space Pirates fled past her, unaware of her firing out of fear. The footsteps grew louder and louder...
/Get him out of here.../
She began to back away as the Parasite Queen burst into the room, letting out a yowl of fury.
/Kill it first, then get him out!/
"HEY! Big Ugly! Over here!" She lead the gaze of the Partasite Queen away from the man's unconscious form using one well aimed missile, dancing out of the way of her acidic counter attack.
/I bet those pirates are sorry now that they chose this as an experiment./
She charged her beam cannon and fired, hitting the Parasite in the side of the face. The Parasite howled in pain, charging forward and pinning Samus hard against the rocks. Samus cried out, feeling ill suddenly as her Varia suit began to fail, firing a missile into the Queen's soft underbelly.
The Parasite Queen began to shreik, backing away and letting Samus fall to the ground. Samus dodged flying acid, running to where she had lay the man and flinging herself over him to cover him. Acid hit her malfunctioning Varia suit and slid off, not touching his exposed skin.
The Queen bellowed, the last of her acid wasted at last, but her energy and life not yet diminished. She dropped down and began to slither towards Samus, leaving a steaming trail of blood and body fluids behind her.
"s**t..." Samus leapt up, powering up her cannon...
Only to have it malfunction as well.
"No..." She began to fire at the advancing enemy, all her thoughts on getting out alive.
/It can't end like t his! There's too much to learn still about the Chozo!/
The Queen took the shots, falling back a little, and slowing, but not stopping.
In desperation, Samus looked aroung, spotting a jutting peiceof metal on the ceiling...a jutting peice of metal conveniently perched right over the Queen's body. Running over to her male companion, sh e scooped up his limp body and stretched out an arm, using her grappling beam to fly over the Queen's body. The suit malfunctioned even more, this time sending pain through the body that wore it. Crying out again, Samus launched one last missile at the ceiling, hitting the metal full on. As it crashed down on the furious, dying parasite, Samus began to run again, the unconscious man still over her shoulder.
Her ship wasn't far now, but the explosions rocking the frigate and her malfuctioning suit added to the extra weight she carried was slowing her down.
/I just hope all the Space Pirates are gone./
She made it outside, knowing she had seconds to spare. Climbing onto her ship, Samus lay the man down, then picked him up again so that she embraced him, lowering them both into her ship. Setting it on autopilot to descend to the surface of the planet below, she turned back to the still unconscious man, touching the side of his neck.
"Your pulse is still strong..." She put her hand close to his mouth, fear rising through her suddenly. She couldn't detect any breathing.
"No! I didn't get you this far to have you die on me now!" She cried, pulling off her helmet. Her long blonde hair spilled down her shoulders as she leaned down, tilting the man's head and closing her mouth over his.
Exhaling deeply, Samus forced air into his lungs, her beart pounding again. She didn't want him to die...not after risking everything to save him. A few more breaths, then she pulled away, one hand on his chest, her cheek turned towards him to check for breathing. With no result, Samus tried again...and again, soon desperate to save him.
Her last effort proved true...his chest began to rise and fall on it's own.
Breathing a sigh, Samus leaned her forehead against his, smiling.
"Thank you.." She whispered.

The ship suddenly jolted, throwing her forward. Crying out, Samus hit the back wall, her suit sending a sudden surge of energy through her body, making her scream. Realizing that she had landed on her colleague, she got up quickly, fighting her way to the front of the ship and opening the view port. Her eyes widened.
"Ridley!" She growled. The Dragon-like fiend laughed as it glowered at her, floating effortlessly in space. His usual color had faded to a silver grey, metallic...
"What the hell have you done to yourself? And why do you have to follow me everywhere?!"
The damage report showed no damage to the ship, so Samus powered after Ridley, towards the surface of the planet.
"I'll find you...and this time destroy you for good! I'm going to make sure of it!"
Ridley disappeared into the clouds, and Samus grit her teeth. After a few moments, she turned and walked back to her unconscious colleague. Sitting down, she ran her fingers through her hair, sighing softly.
"Damn...looks like I've got my work cut out for me."
There was no answer but the gentle rise and fall of the man's chest.
"Hurry up and wake up, will ya...I'm getting tired of talking to myself." She leaned her chin on her hand and her elbow on her knee, yawning.

The landing site was blanketed with almost pulush grass, water running in rivlets from a multitude of waterfalls and rocks. Samus was intrigued by this place...she didnt' think she would mind staying here too much.
"Let's get you cleaned up."
She pulled the male into one of the waterfalls closest to the ship, sitting in the water herself, the malfuntioning suit having been shed so she could fix it a little.
Wearing only a purple bikini, she sat with her back agains't the wall of the waterfall, holding the man against her so the water fell on him to wash away all the liquid that he had been sitting in.
Upon closer inspection, she noticed that there were many scars along one of his shoulders.
Injection scars...
Radiation burns...
/I've gotta get all that research into my ship. I've gotta find out all I can about the experiments.../ She sighed.
/All I can about you.../
She ran gentle fingers over the radiation burns, so close to the injection scars, wondering how much Phazon they had injected into him.
Once she dried him off, she began to work on fixing what she could of the Varia suit, humming softly to herself.
/I've lost my grappling beam...most of the missile technology has been destroyed./
After a long while, she finally put the suit back on, growing chilled in the fast coming dark.
"I think we're safe here...I think I should sleep." Soon, she lay curled up beside him, sleeping soundly and dreaming of Ridley's death...
*Authors comment: Have you even wondered what a Bounty Hunter dreams about?*

/The Hunter.../
He was too foolish to attemtp to call for help. All the Space Pirate saw was a failed, escaped experiment and a huge opportunity for glory.
She slept...so early it was, the sun was only just rising.
She didn't know that he was there...
/How easy this will be...she's so pathetic when she's sleeping./
He unsheathed his wrist dagger and walked across the soft grass towards her, careful not to wake her.
All the glory...all of it was his now...all of it...
"Die now..." He whispered.
The Hunter woke then, but it was already too late to do anything.
"Die now, Samus Aran...leave your pathetic glory in my hands." He rasped in his own language. Samus swallowed, but made no movement beyond that. He raised his arm to use his laser, grinning suddenly wickedly. Samus closed her eyes, suddenly ashamed of being caught so easily by one of her worst enemies...
"Make it quick...Dont' make me wait for it." She whispered. The Space Pirate laughed, the laugh suddenly cutting off as a shot rang out.
/What?/
She felt no searing pain, no acid burning...
/And Space Pirate lasers are silent...what happened?/
Movement behind her caught her attention as the Space Pirate fell backwards, it's ruined chest a bloody cavity now...
And she saw hm sitting up, a gun of sorts in his hand.
Relief washed over her as she looked at him, looked into his dark eyes. His short black hair made his face seem thin and frail, his cheekbones seeming impossibly high...
But she couldn't help being relieved.
"I hope this means I owe you no debt for saving my life." He said weakly, his voice strained by thirst.
Samus stood and walked over, crouching down.
"It does, yes. What's your name? I've been dying ot know." She said softly. The man struggled to sit up properly, letting Samus aide him in doing so.
"Falcon. Call me Falcon."
"Samus Aran. You can call me Samus."

Is the entry too long? ^^;;; I could always shorten it a little. Someone once mentioned to me that the story posts I put up were long in comparison to the ones that others put up.
