With all of the Nergui business going on Canicus should have had a better time at pretending recent events in his own life had never happened... but it appeared not to help at all. It was as if his brain wanted to constantly remind him of his shame, now that he'd asked it not to. He'd finally decided to come down to the dueling pits, to find an opponent.
Dueling would clear his head. It would have to, it always used to! If that didn't work... well he would certainly not know what to do with himself any longer.

Mollwana was oblivious to most things, save the fact that she knew she wanted to join this pride. She'd heard of their strength and their problems, and their fire. She liked the idea of a place where they were united and loyal.
Well. Mostly.
In any case, it seemed like a place where she wanted to be, and she was looking for a way to join. Rumor was, one had to prove themselves in battle to do it, and she would certainly try. She had not fought very often, not really, though she tried to keep herself strong through her days. She believed in a certain kind of discipline, ever since she had been a young cub.
She saw lions around, and saw someone sitting near enough to her. She took a breath and approached.
"I want to join," she said smoothly, her voice silky and soft, but behind the musical tone there was strength. She was smiling as she spoke, nodding her head and hoping there wasn't some sort of secret code she needed to get things started. She just stood ready, braced.

It wasn't long before he had a challenger approach him, an unfamiliar face. Canicus recognized a lot of his pride members by face, especially considering different family lines and the shared characteristics the lines carried. A lot of the joined rogues he still did not know though, so he was not sure if the female was a rogue or perhaps just a new member. He bowed his head to her in something of a friendly manner, having no qualms of the new blood entering the pride. Her words confirmed that she was a rogue, one who wished to join. He stood and nodded, thoughtful. "We'll see then, won't we?" He asked comfortably, his tone rather lack-luster though.
He nodded to the pit the were nearest and moved in when it wasn't occupied. When she was ready he started to circle, watching her. He lunged for her almost immediately, one paw extended. His claws remained retracted, he wasn't fond of blood shed while sparring. His lunge was no good though, his paw did not connect with any part of the lioness. He grunted, shifting his weight to spin and face her.

Mollwana was ready enough for his attack. He missed her and that was good. It left her an opening to swing around and attack him in return. She was aiming to win, but at the moment she did not know how much force she was supposed to use.
She could not fight him and hurt him, right? She was just supposed to win. And she had no intentions of killing him. She only killed her enemies.
Anyway, he looked like she would never be able to kill him even if she wanted to. He was a tough and intimidating looking lion and she was not going to mess with him beyond what they were here to do. Gain her access to the pride, and a place in their community. Anyway, maybe afterwards they could be friends.
Did they do friends here?
There was a lot to learn, but now was not the time to think about it. She stayed low until she got close enough to lash out and swing a paw, heavy but not with her claws, to smack him in the jaw.
