Sekayi sat next to the large dead thorn tree where he and his siblings used to play. He laughed at the memories of chasing around his sisters and brothers carelessly. As he looked out into the blue skys, he was brought back to the fact that those days where over and he had an decision to make before he was officially considered an adult. That which was approaching at an alarmingly rapid speed. The young lion could feel his days going by faster, and the time when he would chose. He envied the ability of his sisters to be able to stay at home and have families for the rest of their lives. Although, inside he had already made his decision.
Sekayi loved his mother and siblings dearly and would be devastated if he had to leave them. That was what had caused him to consider remaining home as a hypothetical eunuch, but the thought had caused him to envision of a unfulfilled future. So in his heart he knew that he would leave home to find his own fate. Despite his resolution, he wasn't exactly sure what he was going to do out on his own away from home. The thing that Sekayi found that he feared most was wandering around in the rogue lands by himself forever and not being able to find a new home and create a new family.

Siagi had very few concerns in her life, and certainly had no one or nothing to keep her down. She padded along the rogue lands, where ever she wanted to go, and no one told her where to go. She liked that, she found, after striking out from home and forging her own path.
Well.
Most of the time no one told her what to do. Where to go. There were sometimes she wandered a little too close to a homestead, or a pride. Then she got chased away, but that was fun, too. She liked being chased, and feeling like she couldn't be caught.
Even when she could.
Padding along, she noticed a young lion sitting nearby, and she tilted her head in wonder at him. Nothing told her not to get closer, no instinct of danger here, so she padded closer.
"Are you okay? You look a little down in the dumps. Or thinking. Oh. Did I interrupt you thinking?"

The lands where he lived were relatively isolated by the surrounding desert, so rarely did they see those that where not apart of the Ithambo'hlabathi, and more recently the Firekin. Also, since they were a family oriented pride, he knew or could at least recognize those within his pride. The redpelts were all distinct and Sekayi could spot one a mile a way. All of these were reasons why he was now looking up, surprised, a new female that the young male ad never seen before. For a moment, all he could do was stare at her in wonder and curiosity before he finally collected himself enough to speak.
"Oh, hello there," he began. Getting up, he faced and approached her, "My name is Sekayi and I live here. Are you lost around here?" he asked curiously. He'd never seen her before and he was pretty sure that she'd been traveling in the rogue lands. .

Siagi watched him innocently enough, head canted slightly to the side. He looked young, but he couldn't have been that much younger than she was, could he? Of course, she was pretty bad at ages in general, and her ability to guess at them was probably severely limited.
She just hadn't seen that many other lions, so her range of comparison was not particularly large.
So she smiled at him and sat down nearby, feeling hot and tired but not complaining too much. She'd seen a few different types of places, but this was the hottest one so far. Her light fur kept her cooler, but her skin underneath was turning red and hurting her and she didn't much like it.
Next place she visited had to have shade. That was a requirement.
"I wouldn't say lost. Just walking around! I'm sorry if I walked into your home though. It's very nice. Very... sandy." She smiled at him and nodded her head, glancing around. It didn't look like a home, but then, she didn't have much experience with those, either.

"Oh," looking at her, Sekayi could see that she was being affected by the heat of the sun. It seemed to shine down on them more intensely than other places according to those who passed through their lands. Sekayi would know the difference anyhow, he had never left his home before. That fact made it difficult for him to imagine his oncoming future. He was realizing that once he left, he would never live there again. Sure he could come home and visit his family, but he wouldn't be able to stay for long. Looking at the new lioness, he wondered what her life was like living out in the rogue lands, unbound by the culture of a pride.
"Would you like some water? There is a lake near here," Sekayi figured that the least he could do was lead her to the pride's water since she looked like she had come from far away. Besides, he had nothing to do with himself at the time being. His sisters and brothers now had their own schedules and budding lives. "So, what's your name? Have you been traveling for a long time?," he asked curiously as he headed toward the lake. The idea of her life intrigued him and he wanted to know what it was like.

"I would love some," Siagi said with a heavy sigh of relief. Just the idea of water cooled her off some, though it made her ache for the true thing harder than she had been when she was just padding along. She looked at him hopefully, tail swishing behind her now that she was thinking about water.
Lovely, lovely water.
The divine liquid would cure all ills, and make any discomfort go away. It would solve all her current problems and, she was certain she was being literal when she thought it, make her the happiest lioness in these lands. And she would have him to thank for that, which she would remember once they got there.
She bounced happily after him.
"My name is Siagi! I've been wandering around as long as I can remember. I haven't been looking for anything, not really, so I'm always happy to find places like this! Do you like living here, Sekayi?"

"Siagi", he repeated and then smiled, "That's a lovely name." Briefly, he wondered if any of the Umzingeli would complain about the new face appearing in their home. However, he knew that the lionesses would be much more personable to another lioness, especially a peacefully appearing one like Siagi. Sekayi was immediately struck with a positive impression of her, and he hoped that his instincts were right. "I do live here", he answered her question, "I was born and raised here. My brothers and sisters live here as well as our mother. These lands are called the Ithambo'hlabathi, this is my home." Staring outward blankly, he thought about his impending departure.
"But....," he started," I must leave my home soon. This place is a home for lionesses, only a few males are allowed to love here. So, now that I am nearing adulthood, I must find a new home for myself," he said with a slightly sad wisp in his voice. Even though he didn't enjoy the idea of leaving his cubhood home forever, he tried to remain optimistic about the excitement and wonders that the future held for the young male. When they finally approached the lake where there were a couple of cubs playing by, Sekayi dipped his head gratefully into the cool water.

Siagi smile brightly. She did not want to cause trouble, though she certainly did not mind running through it when it happened around her. That was fun! It was just bad when it was her fault.
"Itham... oh. That's a long one," she laughed, "I might have to spend some time here just to learn how to say the name! It does sound very nice though, and I imagine the lands were named so pretty because they match."
She chuckled sweetly, though her ears drooped a bit as he continued.
"Oh. Well. There are plenty of places outside, too! I've been walking around, and it's pretty nice out there. Fun! There's lots of adventure and fun things to do, I swear." She noticed he seemed sad about leaving, and wanted to at least offer him a little hope for some fun. She didn't think it was so bad, as she had never had a home. She could not complain.

Siagi's light personality was seeping into him, and he found that his repressed worries were little by little melting away. Unbeknownst to himself, the lioness' words were soothing to his heart despite their playful tone. Leaving his home had worried him most of all everyday in his life that he'd thought about it. It worried him even though he knew that he could have grand and wonderful adventures out in rogue lands
Logically, he knew that his brothers would most likely be with him at least through the beginning of his journey through the world outside of the only place that he had lived up until now. Sekayi looked Siagi in the eyes and smiled at her. Oddly, this lioness who had come out of thin air had made him feel better about his impending departure into the unknown. "I can't wait to find out for myself. Thank you Siagi.....I think I'm ready now," the young lion said with burgeoning confidence in his voice. Sekayi knew then that when the day came, he would be ready and would face the world beyond without fear. "Will I see you out there?" he asked tentatively. It would make him feel even better knowing that he had a friend in an unfamiliar place.

"I certainly hope so!"
Siagi had little notion of what she was helping him with, or how complicated his feelings about everything were. But she was always glad to share her opinions of things she liked, and share with others if they looked like they could do with a bit of fun. There were plenty of adventures out there, so there was no excuse to be cooped up, and definitely no excuse for being scared.
Anyway, the idea of running into him again sounded like a nice one. She would be wondering about him, and hoping he was doing well, now that she knew his story and that he had to leave. So if they met up again, she would be able to keep track of him.
She told him this.
"I think it would be good to see each other again! Maybe we could even figure out a place to meet up, though I'm not good at keeping count of days and I'm not sure when we would be at the same place at the same time. Or I could just wait for you to leave somewhere and you could run into me again that way!"
It wasn't like she had any other plans: she didn't. This was the most exciting thing she had done in a long time and she was really glad for it.
