Yes, that's right, I just saw Death Note at Border's, on the shelves, costing a whopping $13 (whatta ripoff! They're only four or five in Little Tokyo or online!)!!!! It was in Japanese, by the way.... the series has yet to be liscenced, though I'm sure Shonen Jump will receive rights since DN is a Jump title. Yes, for sale at the local Border's, I just saw Volumes 1-4 of Death Note (darn, no spoilers). So if you want to wave around the Japanese manga or do Shrinky Dinks or feel like a fanatic and don't have access to online purchasing or some sort of Japanese bookstore, you now have a venue for purchase!
By the way, I saw one other Japanese title, and there may have been others, but I wasn't at Border's for very long. And let me tell you, seeing Death Note there in Japanese shocked the hell out of me... eek

Apparently Borders is carrying japanese manga everywhere, now. A friend of mine mentioned that she saw Spiral in japanese, too.
Too bad there aren't any Borders in Canada. And Chapters has a hard enough time carying French books, I doubt they'll ever get japanese. crying .

Not to mention that it's very well stocked and very large.... But it's a bit pricey...

Do you have to buy manga online, then?!
Or do they have any online manga-library-type places where you can borrow and trade?

Well, there are stores that sell English and even French manga, but no japanese manga. I'd have to either order those online or get them at conventions or something.

yea i saw some death note and ichigo 100% over there at borders. i was surprised they had a manga section at all! very interesting dicovery that was...they had some un-translated, un-licensed manga like ichigo 100% but not much else. if there isnt a borders, its possible there's a japan town some where in canada with a book store and they might sell some manga there.

It's probably gonna be Shonen Jump that gets it, considering that it's a Jump title and all.
