Freya felt invigorated. She'd taken some time for herself - by herself! - for the first time in ages. And she's really started to think about things. She felt like she was ready to take on the world, and she didn't want to be alone. So her first stop after prom was to check up on her sister. She'd promised that once she'd been left alone for a while, Hel would let her in again. And she had given her far more than just the few days she'd promised! Hel was just lucky Freya had been so busy.. but now, it was time to make up for it! Physical scars may have healed, but the mental ones were likely still there, festering, right on the surface. Freya brought a bag of freshly dried beef jerky as an apology snack, and maybe a pick me up, when she headed over to her sister's room.

"Heeellloooooo, crumpet, is me! I finally comes teh collects yeh. Hope yehr decent, because I'm comings in one ways or another!"

Ever since…that day…Hel was hard to find in her room…but then again, Freya always did have a sort of luck.

It may have taken a while, but there would be shuffling sounds and soft padding as the room’s occupant made her way to the door. It swung open quietly, revealing a tired and disheveled appearance of a two tone wingless valkyrie. She just stared at her sister for a long, long while before she just reached out and pulled her into a tight hug, burying her face against the crook of the older valkyrie’s neck.

When the door opened, Freya held both arms out and the bag of jerky hit her own wrist, as her look of excitement froze. Hel looked like.. well, like hell, if she was going to be honest with herself. But she'd lost her wings, and Freya wasn't surprised that the poor ghoul was still suffering over such a debilitating loss.

Still, when her sister flopped against her and held her tightly in a hug, every instinct in Freya's subconscious screamed in worry. She hadn't done something like this in so very long, and Freya had always tried to be there for her.. had she not been there for her now?!

Freya dropped the bag on the floor and wrapped her arms around her sister tight. "Oh, my little sweet little crumpet, I'm here, shhh. I'm here."

She picked Hel up an inch off the ground, took a few steps in, and then settled her feet back down on the floor so that she could close the door behind her.

The beef jerky stayed outside.

This wasn’t the first time it had happened, and if Hel had been in a better mind set, she would have detested herself for letting it happen again. Not that she had anything against seeking out her sister for comfort it was just…she had done something wrong both times and was now paying for it.

This time though….this time she had really <******** up.

Hel let herself get picked up and carried into her room, a scene much reminiscent like before. Even if the ghoul hadn’t spent that much time with her sister since they both arrived at Amity, Freya always did know when to show up right when she was needed. That was the bond of being a sibling. “…I messed it up bad this time, sister.” Hel’s voice was sullen, down trodden…even more miserable than when she had lost her wings.

"Naa, naa, whats all this, yeh didn't mess up crumpet." Freya curled her arms around her sister and cuddled her close, pressing her lips against the ghoul's hair and kissing it over and over. "There is nothings yeh could ever do that yeh can't claw yehr way back from. Yehr the strongest of all of us, Hel." She turned her head slightly to look at her. "Yeh've always been the strongest, the most beautiful, the best of us all. Nothing has ever stood in yehr way, and that's not abouts teh change."

She shifted Hel gently, so she could get a good look at her sister's face. Her eyes were so full of turmoil, the dark circles underneath them told Freya stories. She leaned in and kissed each eye, willing the pain to leave her sister through her lips.

When she pulled away, she gave Hel a hopeful smile. "Yeh tells yehr sister everythings, and we'll finds a way teh makes it all right again. Okays?"

No.” Hel seemed adamant. “I really did it this time.” Freya could so easily lift her spirits with her words and gestures…but the wrong she had done was just too deep for such affections this time. They didn’t ease the ache of loss. “…I do not feel strong, and I feel much less than beautiful. Much less than mediocre.” She held onto the ghoul tightly, and though her sister lifted her face, Hel’s eyes remained downcast.

Tell Freya everything? The ghoul actually hesitated. No…no she couldn’t tell Freya everything. She didn’t want to hear her disappointment…or hear about what she’d do to the parties involved most certainly. “…I…I made a mistake…one so bad, that Mot could not forgive me for it…and he…he ended it….us…permanently.” Those words still left such a sour taste in her mouth. No more. Hel’s brows furrowed, and she ended up burying her face against her again as her voice cracked. “…I thought I did the right thing after doing the wrong thing, sister…I…I owed up to what I did…and as my reward, I lost everything. How is that fair? How is that just? What is the point of even doing the right thing anymore if I am only punished for it?”

Hel huffed, her lip wibbling, but she did not cry.

And…and love…” She spat the word out as if it was poison. “Love is not magical…love does not…matter. Love only brings pain.”

Freya listened to her sister, and heard her own words echoed in the younger ghoul's voice. It hurt her heart to think that she'd been the one to teach Hel those words, long ago. And Hel had never once truly believed her. She'd kept her faith that there were exceptions, just waiting..

..And now the tables had turned.

"Shhh, it's okay, crumpet." Freya whispered into Hel's hair, continuing to rock her gently. "I thinks I understand." Freya's mind had worked out a solution without anyone telling her the truth, and it made perfect sense, in her mind.

After all, she had done it, too. And Herryk had forgiven her. If Mot wasn't able to forgive Hel just for kissing another boil (which was clearly the issue), then..

"I don't believes there is anythings yeh could has done that would truly be unforgivable. But if Mot decided teh breaks up with yeh over whatever it is yeh did, then yeh knows what?" She pulled her sister away just to turn her, and hold her face in her hands. Freya's own face was an inch away, and her eyes were strong, and determined.

"Mot is teh one who is makings teh mistake, here. Not yeh, crumpet. And he doesn't deserves yeh. I knows it from the start. Yeh made a mistake. Yeh fessed up. And his answer was to run?" Freya's lips pursed angrily. "What kind of man yeh thinks that is, Hel? Is that really teh mans yeh wants teh marry? One who runs at teh first signs of danger?"

She let Hel's head go, and settled it back on her shoulder, rocking once more. "I tells yeh, he's the one who's the mistake here. Not yeh. And yeh knows what? Love does brings pain. Yehr right." She sighed, and nuzzled her face into Hel's hair. "But not always. And not forever."

She went back to rocking her sister gently. "Yeh gives it time. No pain lasts forever."

Hel tensed when Freya said she understood. She…did? Did she somehow know what she had done? Hel was riding the fence. Part of her believed that Freya may have known, and another part of her said there was no way. Freya would never comprehend that she had spent an evening with a taken boil, so Hel wasn’t going to ask or correct her.

The ghoul’s frown deepened, and as Freya cupped her cheek the younger ghoul stared up at her miserably. She never seen Freya look so sure…so confident before. Usually it felt like she had been that as of late. Hel’s eyes widened as the older reaper made her claims. Mot…was the one who made the mistake? What!? Freya thought he didn’t deserve her from the start? Hel may have looked horrified now. She had thought that the entire time and—He ran!? The ghoul’s expression pulled into the most crestfallen one as Freya asked if she wanted to marry a boil like that. Mac had said something along those lines as well. Commitment. Would she really be happy making a commitment to someone who couldn’t love her the way she wanted? Hel wanted to believe he could change…she…she had tried changing. She still hung onto this hope he would and could love her the way she wanted but…oh…he had let go of her permanently now.

She shouldn’t hold her breath.

Hel’s shoulders slumped again as Freya pulled her back against her. The reaper could only sigh as she clenched her eyes shut and held onto her sister tightly once more. “…It feels like it is going to hurt forever sister…and I do not want to let go of him.”

"Ach.. I knows those feels." Freya lifted her head just enough to stare vacantly at the wall, while continuing to rock her sister. "Like yeh mades the biggest mistake of yehr life, and nothing, or no one, will ever be enough anymores." She let a long, melancholy sigh, and shook her head. "I knows exactly how yeh feels right now, crumpet. And, I think.. I think yeh knows I do. Yeh remembers me in those days." She hesitated to even bring up the darker times in her life, right after she'd broken up with Thor, and her sister had begun to date him. She'd turned into a recluse, hating the world and everything in it. She thought the entire idea of love was out of the question, for her.

"And yeh knows I was wrong." Her eyes finally came back down to look at her sister, filled with promise, and hope. She hoped to infuse every bit of that promise into the broken heart she knew her sister now bore. "I can't makes it not hurts. Yeh has teh hurts.. because yeh loved. But it won't always feels this way." Her lips turned up in a sad smile. "I promise."

Her head leaned down, and her lips pressed gently against that of her sisters. "I loves yeh. And I will does anything I can teh helps yeh through this. But right now, all I wants is for yeh teh rest, and mourn, as yeh should. Only then, will yeh comes out of this with a stronger heart, ready teh loves again."

Freya hit the nail on the head.

She couldn’t imagine anyone else, she couldn’t imagine feeling better right now. To think that they had switch viewpoints now as well. How ironic was that? Now being on the end of heartbreak…Hel understood what her sister had been going through. Before she had been so hopeful and optimistic about love, she never truly understood how Freya felt, until now.

“…I am truly sorry, Freya.” Hel murmured after her sister spoke and she softly kissed her. “…I did not give you the support you needed when you were in this predicament. I did not understand. I wanted to selfishly believe that the right one would make everything good and just, that everything would as right as rain once you had that special someone. I fantasized then…but I know now, and I am sorry.” She sighed. “…I love you too.” Hel muttered.

She still didn’t think she’d ever come out of this ready to love again…but Freya had said that too, huh? Still, Hel didn’t want to hope for that right now. She just wanted to be miserable.

And if anyone knew that Hel had the right to be miserable right now.. it was Freya. So she didn't press, she simply accepted the love that was given to her, and squeezed her sister tightly in her arms.

"None of that matters now. I love yeh, and I'm here for yeh. And yeh knows what yeh really needs, right now?" Freya winked playfully. "Freya's cure for all of teh blues. Double mint chocolate chip cherry fudge pork ice cream. With bacon."

She shivered just thinking about it.

Hel just sighed again, looking up at her sister. “…Mmm?” She hummed to acknowledge her question. She had her until the pork and bacon part with the eye scream.

The reaper was silent for a moment, contemplating how to word this. “…That sounds…splendid…” She started carefully. “…But I will have my meat on the side, ya?” Even some of her sister’s weird food fetishes were beyond her.

Freya let out a long, over-exaggerated sigh. "Fiiiine." She huffed, clearly teasing her sister. "I'll puts yehr meats on teh siiides. Party poopers." She kissed her sister and started to disentangle herself from the ghoul. "I'll go get that. And maybes I gets one of my movies, and I spends the nights." She paused, and gave her sister a sheepish look.

"If that is okays with yeh."

Hel just sighed again as she looked at her sister make some little plans for the night, and it had ended with the ghoul shooing Freya to her room for their little sleep over.

The ghoul would then inform her sister that she did not have a skree-vee in her room, much less something to play movies on. Besides, Freya had that nice fur couch and equally nice bed—Oh wait—Did she really want to be in that bed?

Too late.
