AIM Log between Star Blayze and Cooper.

The sound of scrambling rock would have made the stallion cringe. He just couldn't seem to find purchase on the loose scree that surrounded him. Star Blayze narrowed his eyes in defiance. He would get up this slope if it was the last thing he'd do. It was a weird sight to behold. A winged stallion struggling up the side of a cliff just because he was refusing to fly. Star thought that he'd call this training in order to stay in shape. Flying would have been too easy. No, he had to pay for every centimeter he gained in his ascent to prove it. A soft hoot of annoyance registered in his ears. He turned his head to catch a glimpse of Starfall clutching at his mane. The owl seemingly didn't care for this means of transport and he was letting Star Blayze know.

Groaning he turned back to the task at hand. He would make it to the summit of this mountain without flying. He would.

Quietly, the pastel male hummed to himself. The heat was awful, but it was nothing compared to what he had gotten used to when living in the desert. Cooper meandered up the trail he had found not terribly long before. He moved nimbly across the rocky trail, which seemed to go diagonally up the mountain as opposed to vertically. It was made by ground creatures, no doubt, who couldn't fly up and had no other choice. Although the stallion felt mild sympathy for them, he admired their determination, and felt like he would be accomplishing more by following their footsteps.

Slowly but surely Star felt he was making progress. The ground was losing some of its dangerous potential. Already it had seemed as if he'd fought the risk of tumbling back down the mountain. He groaned as his leg muscles strained to carry his frame ever upward. Starfall had given up on enjoying the ride and had taken to the air a while ago. The stallion wasn't too worried though as the owl always seemed to return to him. Giving a small grunt Star Blayze felt his hooves connect with packed dirt and he glanced down towards the earth. A gentle incline greeted his sight and he shook his head.

The sounds of nature now pressed in on him as he continued walking. Almost as if a daze Star Blayze felt himself relax. A small patch of grass grew and Star Blayze tore into the tender shoots. It was only a natural reaction to the sounds of hunger emanating from his stomach.

After a short while, Coop found himself over the rough patch, which with the path was less than rough. He wondered how anyone who didn't know about it could even manage to get up the mountain without giving up. The stallion stretched his wings and peered down toward the bottom. "Well that wasn't horrible at all." He then looked up toward the top of the mountain. It seemed to be an endless sea of trees and rocks, but he was all right with that. He had a plan; he had a path. It took him a few moments to realize the other stallion just a hundred feet or so away from him. The stallion was also winged, yet he seemed to be a bit worn out. Perhaps he also felt that climbing the mountain was much more satisfactory than just flying to the top. Cooper slapped on a smile and walked up to the other. "Hi, there! Are you out for a little hike, too?"

At first Star Blayze couldn't provide an answer. The sudden appearance of another stallion had caught him off guard and the grass that he'd been so content to snack on traveled down the wrong airway. Sputtering in shock Star Blayze lost the rest of the mouthful as he spat it back out. Taking a few deep breaths he managed to calm his reflexes before peering slowly at the stranger before him.

"Sorry about that. It's been a long time since anyone's been able to startle me."

Blayze took in the other stallion's appearance and noted the wings that adorned his back. It seemed as if this stranger was a fellow member of the Wind family. He gave a small shake of his head in what was semi-amusement before responding to the other stallion's question. "I suppose I am. I guess that from your question that is what you are up to as well."

Cooper watched and edged closer while the other stallion nearly choked on his food. A small look of worry appeared on his face as the wind coughed and finally cleared his throat. "Oh, it's perfectly all right! I'm sorry to have startled you. Are you all right? I'd offer you some water if I had some, but I do know of a spot not too far from here where you can get some." He had scouted the mountain before deciding to climb to the peak, and mapped out where good places to stop and rest were.
"It is. I'd like to do something the hard way for once, you know? Not just fly up over and stop wherever I'd like. Though, with the forest getting more dense at many points, it's rather difficult to find a place to land. I want to see if I can get a glimpse of the desert from the peak, and this seemed to be the highest of the mountains I could find."

Star Blayze gave one final little cough before realizing that he was able to breathe normally. The spasms had lessened now that his lungs were clear. He further took in the stranger's appearance before allowing his own smile to appear. The thought of water to ease the discomfort he felt and also to be able slake his thirst had him looking at the other stallion with respect. "The idea of ascending such a peak for a look at the valley below is an interesting thought. The endurance to manage that feat with the use of one's wings is admirable," Blayze gave a little chuckle at this. "If you do know a way to a water source I'd be more than grateful to you."

Blayze quickly sent a quick glance into the sky above. He shook his head quietly before returning his gaze to the stallion. "So, who do I have the pleasure of meeting? I'm Star Blayze."

Cooper chuckled at the wind. "Well, is that not what you're doing as well? Climbing a mountain without using flight? What's your reason, if you don't mind my asking? Just to say you're doing it, or is there something more?" He also looked at the other stallion with respect. What were the chances that two stallions, both trekking up a mountain without the use of their wings, would meet on the same day? Most winds would laugh at the thought unless they were with a grounded companion. "Of course, it's not too far from here. Just a little ways that way." He nodded past the other and started walking slowly.
"My name's Cooper. Or Coop. Or whatever you feel like calling me, really. As long as I know you're taling to me, it works. But it's great to meet you; I haven't really met many others from here."
