I want to be a psychologist. There's a bit of stumbling block there though for me, as I'm pretty sure I have an anxiety disorder. I want to help people, but I wonder if I should and if I could handle it.
I also can't help but worry if my anxiety could prevent me from becoming licensed if I choose that path.
I really want to help, especially help those who are victims of abuse, addicts, and people that are traumatized. My friend suffered abuse and was a drug addict for some time and it serves as a personal motivator for me, as I want to help deal through things and somehow improve things for them.
Should I even consider being a psychologist? Would I even be able to be licensed? If not, what are other ways I could help people?

You could always be a counselor instead.

I am the same as you, deary, I have an instinctual need to help people, sometimes even when they are in the middle of consoling ME. even if you are unable to become a psychologist there are always ways to help people, like listening. Sometimes all people really need is someone who will listen to them. Other times, if you are like me, you might find yourself embracing them, massaging them and humming gently to them as means of calming them down. You, like anyone else here, have the power to help people already even if it is just the people you already know or are getting to know.
Your anxiety is surely an obstacle when it comes to this approach as you yourself have to be comfortable and able to set a comfortable environment to help make people feel like they can tell you what they can't tell most. but deary, obstacles exist to be overcome so don't think that it is not possible to do so. getting over your anxiety can take some time but if you really truly feel like this is what you want to do, that this is what you can do then it won't keep you down and it will just become something for you to look back on and think "I made it, I overcame it." in your future.

We all have things that could prevent us from doing what it is we want to do. For me, I want to be a doctor, but I don't know if I'm smart enough. I'm still going to try, though, because that's what I really want to do with my life. If that's what you really want to do, you shouldn't worry about whether or not you can because of your anxiety. Because honestly, no one is completely healthy or problem free. Don't worry about failure and just give it your best. And on a side-note, I think it's great that you want to help. The world needs more people like that. =)
