It was time, time for him to leave the safety of his home and venture to the closest settlement of his people. Rare was the times he wanted to leave, since this meant he had to venture forth into the twisting forest, the glowing mushroom...and its bugs. Takoda always had to stand in the entrance of him home, staring out at the branches before him, glancing down at the ground the faint glow of mushrooms were hardly comforting.
A hand went through his hair, a satchel hoisted onto his shoulder, unlike a previous one he had ventured with this one he intended to keep. It was full of leaves and parts of plants. Tubors and anything else he thought could be helpful. After all if he wanted to be a healer he needed to know the plant life by heart.
A deep breath and he stepped out, walking along the branch quickly until it began to bow under his weight and then he was onto another one, he was lucky as he lost his balance and he managed to catch himself with another branch. As he reached the lowest branch he paused, squatting down to observe the ground directly below him. A sigh of relief as there were no obvious signs of glow worms.
He felt the moss give way under his toes as he stepped down, he always felt bad doing this but at the same time he knew that moss wouldn`t die by simply stepping on it.
Takoda hoped by his visit to gain some valuable trading for the herbs he brought. A large majority of course would go straight to the elder healer, since it was how he repaid the elder`s kindness for putting up with his constant questions. But he also hoped to get some water bags, maybe some fresh bread if he was lucky, and dried meat.
Lost in thought he wandered through the brush slowly, habit making it so he tested each foot fall before fully putting his weight down. After all more than once he had startled instincts and animals alike by nearly stepping on them. Of course he never wanted to hurt the animals after all he was more worried about the bugs.
