Today was computer lab day. Minny and the rest of her class filed into the room that buzzed gently with the sound of twenty five computers sitting on idle. Mrs. Canstry waved them into the room with a warm smile, eyes crinkling behind her square glasses. Each student took a seat at a computer, logging in with their name and classroom number while Mrs. Lunder called out over the tiny bit of chatter.

“Ok class remember, you will be looking for information about the animal you picked for your presentation. That means I don’t want to see any games or anything like that being played!” Her sharp green eyes focused on a boy behind her who quickly looked down at his keyboard, closing a tab with an 8-bit shooting game on it. She smiled, though a flicker of irritation crossed her eyes. “Now let’s make this time useful!”

A few children nodded, though most of the class was already online and typing their animal names into search engines. Screens lit up as webpages popped into existence. Some children copied and pasted blocks of information into word processing programs, others took notes the old fashioned way with a pencil and paper. There was a gentle rise and fall of noise as adjacent kids shared tidbits of information with each other about their respective animals.

Minny busily scrolled through her website, noting things by writing them down. Her animal was the owl, and she sighed as she realized that she should have been more specific.

“There are over two hundred species of owls in the entire world.” Minny read aloud, hand splayed across her forehead as she leaned in closer. “Two hundred! Aw man!”

“Why don’t you pick one type of owl to do your stuff on?” Her friend Olivia offered, exiting from one website and returning to the search engine list.
Minny nodded, and started clicking owl names. Elf Owl, Barn Owl, Snowy Owl….they all looked so pretty! She backspaced, and clicked more and more names, marveling at the pictures. Their claws were so long! And their eyes were spooky! One species caught her eyes more than any other. The Greater Sooty Owl was big, and their eyes looked so attentive. Minny stared into them for a minute, and then copied the picture. She would definitely do her essay on the Greater Sooty Owl! She and Olivia talked back and forth as they worked, and soon they both had pages of information to use. There was still a portion of the class left, so the two began to lazily troll the internet, searching for funny pictures, or cute puppies. Minny lazily clicked away from her latest find of a panda wearing a tutu when an idea struck her. She returned to the search engine, and typed in “Ambrosia”.

The pages appeared less than a second later. Links upon links with the keyword “Ambrosia” in them. She started to click through them, some causing her a bit of confusion.

A rock band in California in 1970, a software company, a restaurant…

What do any of these have to do with honey?

Her confusion was reaching almost a peak when another link came up. Wikipedia was warned as an unreliable source, but Minny figured that this wasn’t something that many people searched for, so why would someone lie about it? The page said that ambrosia was the drink of the gods. Now THAT sounded cool! Minny hungrily read the site, soaking in all of the details. Also called necter, it was brought to the gods by doves and kept them immortal? It was also the name of someone turned into a grapevine. Ambrosia was sometimes believed to be made of wine or mead or sometimes…honey!
Minny’s face split into a grin. Honey! THAT’S why she is Chibi Sailor Ambrosia and her power is honey! She practically crowed with glee, but settled for bouncing in her seat with happiness. The revelation of her namesake rose a few more questions. Does this mean that she is related to Greek gods? Are all senshi related to gods of somewhere? Is that where their names came from?

Now that didn’t make sense. Camelot was a place, not a god. Though Camelot was a Knight. Perhaps their names were based on places. What about…Lenka? Or Pamona? Or Sinon? Were they all gods or goddesses to? Minny sighed, feeling her glee fold back a bit. There were so many questions about senshidom she had! And only ten minutes left to research them!
