Basics
Name: Telsia Farrow
Specie or race: Human
Social Class: Middle
Age: 23
Powers: None. She doesn’t really put much personal stock in magic; while she respects its power, she’d rather depend on her own hands and feet.
Talents: She’s got pretty good aim with a crossbow and can do quite well with hand-to-hand combat, though she’d rather keep it ranged. She’s clever and skilled at piecing stories together, which is a useful skill for a guard to have. She’s also rather strong and good at lifting things.
Specialization: City guard
Background: Telsia grew up the middle child in a family of mostly boys. She’s got four brothers, two on each side, a father who’s very involved with his children, and a mother who (very wisely, probably) let her do her own thing growing up. She was a rough-and-tumble tomboy from her earliest days and could often be found in the fields racing her brothers on horseback or shooting vermin that got too close to the crops with a bow. But it had always been clear that the farm wasn’t where Telsia was going to stay. She was far too restless to settle into the life of a household runner as her mother had. Life on the Farrow farm was generally easier than it was on other farms. It was a larger operation, and the family prospered due to her mother’s mercantile skills. The family maintained a house in town, and this is where she got her Big Idea.
When she was seventeen, she moved off the family’s farm to The City- Avandere, where the King lived. She just didn’t see much of a future for herself in the farm life; she wanted something busier and more personally satisfying than eventually marrying a farmer and having children who would one day succeed her as she’d succeeded her parents and in-laws. She stayed with a distant relative for a few weeks until she found a job with the city guard. Now she lives in the guard barracks. Typically, she can be found patrolling the Upper Circle with her bonded Azrein, Argent.
Personality: Telsia is steadfast and loyal, and these will never change. It takes quite a while to earn her trust, but once you’ve got it, you’ve got a good friend who will be your constant champion. She can be very hot-tempered and impatient, however, and often doesn’t see the point of social rituals. She also gets flustered pretty easily when she can't figure something out or struggles with something. She’s honorable and tries to always do the right thing; however, personal loyalties can sometimes make her honor system more flexible. She is a stalwart defender of the realm and really, really enjoys her job. She’s personable with the locals and tries her hardest to get assigned to market duty, especially on bazaar days, so that she can talk to people and help give visitors a favorable impression of her city. While distant, she is a dutiful daughter and writes home at least once a week.
Appearance
Physical: It is clear that Telsia comes from peasant stock. She definitely doesn’t have that gracefully wilting flower look that tends to come on the young noblewomen. Her skin is tanned and freckled, and she keeps her dark hair cut rather short. She’s thin and lithe, almost cat-like. But not housecat; panther. She keeps herself in excellent shape. Her eyes are greenish hazel.
Clothing: When not in guard armor, Telsia favors dark purples and reds. She likes copper jewelry; silver and gold seem too flashy for her. Her favorite shoes are a pair of old leather farm boots, and she’s got a dark green hooded cloak she can almost always be seen wearing on chilly days.
Bonded
Argent: Telsia met this mare when she was a teenager, probably around fourteen. The foal was the daughter of her brother’s bonded, so it wasn’t a surprise that the two quickly took to each other. While the two definitely have very different personal styles- the mare’s long flowing pink mane and tail are a sharp contrast to Telsia’s roughcut angles- they are very close and care very deeply for one another.
