Ami flipped through her phone aimlessly. Today her duties consisted of showing some new trainee around the Academy. Not exactly her of a great day. Most likely it'd be some justice freak that was hellbent on "destroying evil" without even realizing what being a hunter entailed.
She stood by the pods in the life labs, waiting for the trainee. He was named "Konstantin," which had Ami judging him already. His name was bizarre. It meant that either he renamed himself to "stand out from the crowd" and be "super hip" or he was foreign. She hoped for the latter. Maybe there'd be an accent. Accents were good.
11:14.
She'd sent him a message on his phone to be there at 11:15 prompt. Let's see how late the newbie would be getting lost on the way here...

Konstantin arrived at the entrance of the pod room where he'd awakened with little fanfare. He wasn't that tall, five foot eight on a good day, and had a tendency to slouch.
He was desperately trying to block out how complacent he had been as a woman, and instead focused on taking in the details of his surroundings, blue-grey eyes inspecting everything that he'd been too overwhelmed to notice before.
There was a woman there, presumably waiting for him. He did not wave at her, merely nodded in assent in her direction. "Dobriy otro," he murmured quietly, a few seconds early.
He insisted on being punctual.

Ami was surprised when the trainee walked in promptly on time, a few seconds early even. She mostly expected tardiness and a lackadaisical attitude. Well brownie points to Mr. Kostya.
"I have literally no idea what that means. English if you can, shut up if you can't." Oh yeah, forgot to mention- Ami wasn't a very good tour guide. She DID think it was cool to speak another language, but now when she was giving a tour. At least she added afterwards, "Thanks for being on time though."
She stood up from where she was leaning against one of the pods and gestured to the room. "So this is Deus Ex Academy, you're in one of our five divisions blahblahblah I'm sure you heard this in orientation. This is the life labs. Not gonna lie- haven't been here long. You know the pods- it's where we keep all potential candidates for hunters until they're ready." She put her hands behind her back and said, "There's two sections, the labs and the infirmary. I'm pretty sure you know what an infirmary is. The labs are used to study FEAR, minipets, new technologies ..."
She looked at Kostya. A challenge. "Keeping up?"

Konstantin merely nodded. "I am okay with English," he said, his voice heavily accented. "I am not used to speaking it so much. Old habits, da?" Konstantin frowned. "I mean,'Old habits, yes?'"
He nodded at her approval at his punctuality, and followed her. He glanced at what she gestured at, committing each factoid to memory. "Da--" No uhm, as Konstantin realized his error, merely silence. "Yes. Except. vhat is a minipet?"

"You can say da, I get that. Just no dober den or whatever," Ami permitted, while also butchering his language in the process. "Minipets are little creatures made of FEAR. I don't really know much about them yet- I only just started working in life."
She noted the moon on his coat. "Ah so you're in moon. That I can help you with. I was a moon trainee myself!" But you could bet your bippy she was glad she switched.
As they moved through the halls of the life labs, Ami pointed out little things. There were the reference books. There was a particular lab. There was a wing of the hospital. She even included a little explanation about Runic weapons whoopee.
By now they'd made it to the main building. "So this is the main building, the biggest one we have. It's the center of Deus. You can find classrooms and lectures on the left- I have to say Killzone's are probably the most ... interesting. Offices are located here- I think some of the leaders even?"
She stopped for a moment. "Ah- yeah you should probably know. Allan is the sun leader, Simon is his assistant. I ... still don't know the moon leader, sorry- but the moon assistant ... also not sure actually. We had one named Julie, I liked her but she ... died in battle." Ami's face grew a little darker, which clearly signaled that Kostya should not ask about this matter. "We have Aria the mist leader- watch out for her weapon, okay?- and ... well Lance is acting assistant right now. Not sure who the real assistant is." She sighed, and then took a breath. This was actually hard to list out. "Death is headed by Caelius, assistant is Mark. Don't really know them enough. Lastly, Dr. H is the life leader- he's ... well I've never actually MET him, but he's fairly formidable in battle," she was recalling him being swallowed by the titan squid and SURVIVING, "I've heard he's a bit of a pervert though. Our assistant is Clarice. Never met her either."
Wow that had been a lot more long-winded than necessary. "Moving on..."

He did not bother to explain the meaning. His input had not been requested: she was his superior.
"Vhat is FEAR?" Mark had not, exactly, given them the run down. He nodded appreciatively at her offer of help, but said no further as they traversed the halls.
At the same time, he continued to craft his mental lists of the information provided.
Minipets: Made of FEAR. FEAR: ??? Runic Weapons: ??? Weapons: ???
Main Building: Largest. Classrooms with lectures. Offices. Life Labs: Minipets. Experiment labs. Hospital.
Sun: Attackers. Leaders: Allan, Sumon. Moon: Defenders. Leaders: TBD, Julie (deceased-- rainbow girl from recruitment.) Mist: ??? Leaders: Aria, Lance (acting assistant) Death: Reconnaissance. Leaders: Caelius, Mark (man who woke us) Life: Technology and Medicine (clearly). Leaders: H (Doctor-- remember his title.), Clarice.
Note: She specified that she used to be moon. However, she refers to Clarice as 'our' assistant. A change in divisions?
Konstantin let the girl talk, keeping pace with her, quiet as a mouse, his step light despite the boots he wore. He was careful of his body, aware of it and the space it took in the world.
"Spasiba for the tour. You are doing a good job."

Externally, Ami did nothing. It was the same unimpressed poker face she wore every day. Internally? She was bouncing off the roof at the way he complimented her with that cute little accent omg too precious-
"FEAR is ... you know those shadows, monsters, whatever you signed up to fight? It's what they're made of. Kind of like atoms for us? I don't know all the specifics, but that's generally what I make of it," she explained. You tell Ami liked this silent approach, the way he didn't ask obnoxious questions, didn't touch her for god's sake. Moonies were always. ********. touching her. Quietly, she added, "If you have any more questions, you can ask along the way ..." A great offer, honestly, coming from Ami.
Was there anything else here? "Oh, almost forgot. Cafeteria's here. Food's not terrible, but avoid the tea. Tastes like s**t." Then again, Ami was the pickiest person on Earth when it came to tea.
Continuing along, they stopped in front of the dorms, but only briefly. "These are the dorms. You sleep here. Experienced hunters on top, newbies on the bottom. There's not much else to it." Regardless of what she said, she did add, "Don't ******** around in the dorms okay? Some people use them for quiet time." Her foggy glare into the distance clearly indicated which people she was talking about.
