He shouldn't have been surprised that Nix had immediately wanted to scope out the area when they neared town. It was a convergence zone of a few different types of habitats neatly packed into one area, from water-bound to the forest's edge to a few urban-encroached caves, so the researcher was bound to find a wide range of pokémon specimens out here to study! He nearly even forgot the original reason they had come to town in the first place: to pick up supplies for the road. The man had to be reminded of necessity before work, like always, so Margarita and Terpsichore accompanied him into town while Endymion stayed on the outskirts, where he preferred the lack of crowds and staring.

He shuddered to think of the havoc those three would even cause in town, where it was so populated. With such imagery, the scyther child counted himself even luckier that he didn't have to be subject to it, or associate with it. However, Endy found himself waiting for them to return again, and in the place that would certainly distract the codger for many more hours. He sighed at that thought, but his mild irritation with the matter was hastily replaced by the need to find a different emotion. The boy decided on 'curiosity.'

After all, it wasn't every day that the group ended up in a place like this. Despite Endymion not being the researcher his trainer was, he couldn't help but investigate on his own every now and then. He poked at a craggy rock near a seaside cave with a bladed arm, attempting to peer inside the shadows without having to actually venture in. Weird place, but at least it kept his attention.

Deep inside the cave were heard some noises. A loud chittering sound followed by an echoy giggle from somewhere deep in the darkness. Clicks and clacks like shoes on stone or maybe something else, deep within the recesses of the cave.

What wasn't visible from the entrance was a brown haired sentret boy child and a girl in her early teens playing around and exploring the cave. Fluff hadn't been in many seaside caves and Julie had wanted to do something fun for the start of their 'break' from tutors. She splished and splashed a little with her shoes in the small lower sections in the floor where some of the water from the sea filtered in.

Endymion jumped back when he heard sounds emerge from the cave. Okay, he really hadn't expected there to be anything living in there, especially so close to town. Weren't most feral pokémon more careful about Gaian developments than this? Though... he supposed it was possible that it wasn't a home so much as it was someone's idea of an adventure. He'd come across some people that seemed to enjoy that sort of thing... but in the dark like that?

It didn't help that, whatever it was, it sounded bigger than the scyther boy was. With a nervous fidget, Endymion scoped out the floor really quick, spotting a large enough sand clod near some of the rocks. With a flat side of one of his blades, he scooped and flung the ball of sand inside the cave in one fell motion. Okay, that was probably stupid, he immediately worried, hoping he hadn't just aggravated something large and prone to rage. Panicking, the boy ducked to hide behind a large rock, hoping he wasn't seen.

The girl and the boy jumped in surprise at that. Who was throwing sand at them? And WHY? That was strange thing to do!

"Who is that?" Julie called loudly to the entrance. Fluff just darted forward to the end and came face to face with a scyther boy. His large fluffy brown striped tail flicked back and forth and he chirped a bit.

"Hullo hallo! Juljul it's a BOY! A pogeymon boy!"

Endymion froze stiff in place, cursing in his mind about not being fast enough to dodge getting spotted as the perpetrator. First off, he hadn't expected to actually hit anyone with the toss, let alone get anywhere near a target. This stemmed from the fact he couldn't exactly see into the dark depths of the cave, let alone where he lobbed that ball of sand. Seeing the boy emerge from the shadows like that, and in such a rapid manner, caught the scyther completely off-guard and resulted in a quicker lock of muscles and movement.

So the tables were turned, and Endymion appeared as though he were a stantler caught in the headlights. The hasty speech patterns of the sentret boy that emerged didn't help matters, and the insect child found his brain sort of just... flat lining. At least the other pokémon didn't seem angry? Or... or, really, all that dangerous. Trying to grip onto that thought, he teetered a bit before trying to speak, "Who... what..?" Trying, but failing.

Striding a bit slower out of the cave was the teenaged blonde who smiled to see the Scyther. "Aww poor thing he looks scared Fluff. Did you pop up on him?" Julie walked over and knelt by the Scyther boy, helping him stand better, "There there, its ok. We aren't gonna hurt you."

"Nope, not hurt! We're friend!Ly!" Fluff agreed happily and bounced a bit, his tail flicking more.

Well, it was certainly unexpected to suddenly see both of them there, and although it was a great relief to know that neither of them were angry at his poor choice of actions on the matter, it also made him feel a bit uncomfortable. He was not one to go looking for attention from people, and the excessive amount managed to fluster the boy. At least they were friendly, which made the lack of personal space a little easier to tolerate.

"I-I know you're not gonna hurt me!" he snapped, on the defensive. Wide-eyed, the scyther averted his attention to hide the flush that emerged from something so unintentional. "S-Sorry about that, I was just... um..." he tried to apologize, but Endymion was a pro at missing when it came to grabbing at words.

Instead, he tried to partially change the subject, so as not to dwell on embarrassment, "What were you doing in there, anyway?" There was a barely-visible smirk that appeared on his face in reaction to the boy's hyper response. He certainly seemed as friendly as he said he was!

"Oh we were exploring it and telling stories. It's fun to play around in the dark sometimes. We went through it with flashlights earlier to see if it was safe. It was just somewhere interesting to be." Julie explained cheerily.

Fluff flopped back so he was partly sitting on his curled tail, "So's your name? I'm Fluff. That's Julie."

Endymion glanced back to the cave's entrance, as though he could see within its depths on a second look, to no avail. He didn't really understand what was so fascinating at exploring unknown spaces, but then he also realized that that was probably due to the fact he was sure that something could probably jump out at a person from the darkness. Something that could actually see in the dark. It was a bit disconcerting to know that the two of them went through the cave to make sure it was safe by themselves, though at least it was better than going it alone. "Did you find anything interesting in there?" he asked, in an attempt to not stick with being silently confused on the matter.

"Fluff?" he asked, finding the name... a bit strange, to say the least. Then again, who was he to be nitpicky about something like that when the trainers often named the pokémon? 'Strange' became 'amusing,' at the thought. "Ahm, my name's Endymion," he replied sheepishly. He always forgot to make proper introductions.

"We didn't find much. Some shiny stones but that's it." Fluff commented in an offhand manner. The name Endymion seemed very fancy and odd to him, wheras his was comfortable and very suitable, but hey that was ok.

Julie smiled brightly, cocking her head to the side and making her pigtails wiggle, "IThat's a very pretty name."

The scyther boy snorted a slight snicker at Fluff's explanation of the inside of the cave. Something about taking all the effort to carefully scope the place out, only to be disappointed with the results, seemed to be a mite humorous. "How far in did you go?" he queried, a bit curious to find out if it was a tunnel system or just a giant alcove.

Endymion hesitated a moment, realizing he still hadn't gotten around to asking his trainer what the name was all about, anyway. He knew it had originally been in the name of poking fun at him, something about freezing to death in the snow... but outside of that, he didn't know the specifics. It hadn't even meant to be his actual name. He flinched at Julie's comment on his name, but quickly realized she had probably just used the terminology because she... well, she acted like a rather young girl. He managed a smile, even though he was horribly unused to compliments of any sort, "Heh, thanks. You two have very unique names yourself!" Yes, 'Julie' was a unique name for the boy; he didn't really get out much.

"So, what's the plan for you two now?" he asked, eager to get all subjects of conversation as far away from himself as possible. However, upon doing so, he realized he had to reel it back again for something else, "Erm... and... sorry for throwing that sand ball."

"This one's mostly just got a back wall but ther'es a small tunnel to another cave nearby. We just don't want to go in that one. Too many creepy crawlies." Julie explained, taking the comment on her name being unique as him not having as much experience with human names.

"It's ok! It just surprised us!" Fluff assured him, up and about once more and darting around Endymion in a playful manner. "What kinda pogey are you? You smell like a pogey."

Endymion's eyebrow rose at Julie's explanation of a nearby cave and why the two of them didn't want to go exploring in it. So this one was empty, but the other one wasn't? It made him curious to find out what made the second so much more inhabitable. However, he poked a bladed arm her way in indication, but far enough away to not tease with bodily harm, "Creepy crawlies? What, like bugs?" He had to smirk at that; he didn't find it offensive, but the implications were certainly a bit comical in context.

The boy breathed a sigh of relief when it was relayed to him that he had managed to miss hitting either of them with the sand he had tossed. It would have made for some strange luck, to hit something with a literal shot in the dark, but he was glad that he didn't have such skills. He jumped when Fluff neared, taking a nervous step back in reaction to his expectations of threatened personal space. He tried not to let it get to him, though; it was obvious he was just hyper and trying to be friendly. So Endymion put a small smile back on and answered, "I am, just as much as you. I'm a scyther. Or... or, rather, was." He wasn't sure what to call this form, really, other than a bizarre evolution. "What about you? Don't think I've... really run into one of you," he asked when the other boy came to a stop.

Julie shook her head, "Not quite. There were a couple of centipedes in there but mostly it was like little creepy crawly sea critters. The water washes right up over the very bottoms of that cave so if you walk through it you get damp boots and there are slimy yucky little like planktony things going about. I think I even saw a jellyfish once."

Fluff stretched out his tail and waggled it some along with wiggling his ears, "I'm a Sentret!!"

Huh, that was a bit unexpected. Endymion hadn't actually heard of sea critters being referred to as 'creepy crawlies' before, but he could imagine that the term was capable of fitting rather accurately in some cases. The water had just as much varying inhabitants as land, didn't it? He was actually guessing at this point, considering he had very rarely any encounters with open bodies of water of any sort. "Jellyfish?" the scyther child asked, unsure of what sort of creature that was.

Fluff seemed to be eager to share what he was, and upon seeing this, it made Endymion grow a tad more relaxed. He didn't mind if others kept talking, as he was a pretty decent listener, he was just terrible at conveying words himself, especially when nervous. With a smirk, he asked, "And what do sentrets usually do?" He hadn't seen one before, so it wasn't strictly a question to distract. He didn't even know their usual habitat, something that tended to be obvious with what type the pokémon was. Fluff's type wasn't really evident at all.
