Update (1/4/13): Because they are relocating, the swampies will be leaving this subforum behind; it will be ICly marked as 'Deserted' (for now), and should no longer be used, unless you want to do backdated pre-fire RP. I will have their new digs set up shortly!
Update (11/25/12): As of this RP, the swampies are currently homeless. ICly, this homeless period will last about 3-4 weeks, but due to RL and such, this is taking longer OOCly. During this period, adolescents are not being sent on their pilgrimages - if your swampie has grown since the fire, please hold off on sending them out until further notice.
Update (8/4/12): Khara has (finally!) chosen a Consort, Vyoga-kwaa. But things in the swamp seem to be getting...a little less wet lately. It's not significant yet, but it has definitely become apparent that the water levels have dropped some. Hmm...
In OOC news, wooga Paes is going to be co-owning the swampies with me. Expect some things to start happening soon!

In IC matters, Khara has been looking for more ways to distinguish her reign, and after consulting with her grandmother, has established two new ranks. Please see the Ranks and Rank Changes thread for more information.
Reminder (5/15/12): I'd just like to remind everyone again that cub names must be SHORT. As in one word. Long names are against tradition and unacceptable. Leave the fancy names for adulthood. If your cub has a long name, fix and retcon it, because it is not okay.
Update (1/30/11): Changes are afoot! Again. The King and his Consort, Jhonki-sahna and Be-khatra, along with their children, left the lands in the middle of the night. The next day, Mama Asali called the pride together to explain - that Be-khatra was of hybrid blood, and Jhonki had known all along. How she found out was not revealed. Following this, former King Narindima'moyo proclaimed a new ruler: another of his children, the recently-returned La`u Khara`i (formerly Ua). Lots of strange and sudden goings-on, so feel free to gossip!
Among these sudden goings-on, Khara is reopening membership, with the stipulation that she, being a seer, will interview any and all new members to determine their worthiness (obviously I won't be able to play this out all the time, so just assume it happens). This also means a few rank changes, that returned littermates of Jhonki's will be Hunters/Huntresses, and littermates of Khara will be Nobles.
Update (6/27/10): Narindima'moyo's son, Jani, has returned from his quest as Jhonki-sahna, and though he's still not fully grown, Nari has named him the new King and stepped down. With him comes a lioness, Be-khatra (formerly Citkabra), who will be his Consort. This means a few rank changes! Nari and Piliroho kwa Kwini are now Nobles, as will be Sasa and Tibuka when they return. Nari and Pili's second litter are now simply Youths, and Nari's littermates are Hunters again.
Update (6/1/10): It's now been a few months, ICly, since the murderer was apprehended and executed. Asali'jua has returned as the Goddess of Swamps, now called Mama Asali. Things have mostly returned to normal, but changes are now taking place.
Nari has decided to cut off the trickling flow of new members, unwilling to risk repeating recent history. Outsiders are no longer welcome, and any strangers entering the lands will be escorted out. There are, however, exceptions to this rule: pilgrims may return with a mate, and members may still adopt cubs or return with their own. [This will officially go into effect on 6/11.]
Also, I've been letting some things slide with names, but I won't be anymore. Cubs should have simple, one-word names - leave the strung-together longer ones for when they're older. Swampies also don't have last names, so please avoid those as well. And, while Provisionaries may still breed, I'm now limiting it to once; if you want to breed them again, change their name so they can be a full member first.
Update (5/4/09): Following the death of Asali'jua, Mama Bwawa disappeared, and the spirits seem to have gone quiet. Is it something to do with the new King? So far, it's a mystery.
The influx of new members, however, has continued. This includes a daughter of the Goddess who looks strikingly like her, and who not only gained a new name quickly, but soon became Nari's first Courtesan. While this may be eyebrow-raising, another newcomer may be even more so - a former Firekin, a male called Niwasha'Kan.
What your characters think of all this is, of course, up to you.
Update (3/29/09): Asali'jua has died, and her son Narindima'moyo is now King. Life will pretty much continue as normal - he's not changing anything about how the pride works. He will lead pride hunts, send adolescents on their naming quests, etc. For some lions, there will be title changes: Jabali (as he was Asali's Consort) and Roho'eupeanga (as he is Nari's littermate) will be ranked as Nobles, while the rest of the adult Scions will be Hunters and Huntresses (and the last six will be the same after their quests).
