I heard a song that leaked out last year, called Vulturous, and it sounded kind of like the old Metallica... I think they can actually pull it off.

I'm a fan of the old Metallica. I stopped listening after the black album.

Boulivar And what's up with that collaboration with Lou Reed? Apparently Metallica was on tour with him and after it was over Lou Reed contacted them and made an album with them.

I really like their older stuff, I haven't really listened to their new music in all honesty. I'll have to give it a listen though.

I'm a fan of Metallica, both old and some new. What i mean is this; i like the Black album, but I'm not a fan of Load and Reload. I find St. Anger to be their worst album, and i only really like a few of the songs on it. Then you get to Death Magnetic, which I really like, i think its the best album they made since And Justice For All. It's heavy, different from their previous stuff, not exactly old school Metallica, but great for what it is. Then we get to Beyond Magnetic, which i almost love to bits. I usually listen to a lot of technical metal, so i usually get have a problem of judging simplistic songs to harshly. The thing is though, as simplistic as it is, it sounds fantastic. Hate train is definitely the best out of them all. Hate Train uses those notes, that are so distorted they sound like sounds (kinda like Machine Head, Limp Bizkit, and, and Slipknot). Which is huge considering that Metallica never uses them. Furthermore, Kirk's solo sounds made so that it resembles the Doppler Effect to near perfection. Its one of the best I've heard in from them in recent time; best of all its a lot closer to their old style than Death Magnetic.
To Summarize my thoughts, Post Black album; don't like it, Post Death Magnetic; awesome stuff.

I grew up listening to Metallica in the 90's, one of the first bands I ever known. I love songs throughout most of their early albums, and I actually like Enter the Sandman because it sounded that much heavier and hit harder [despite losing some speed, but hey, power and speed is a balanced beam]. Their later stuff to me is alright, but when everyone that I heard was happy with Death Magnetic and gave it a try, I couldn't find a song I could finish. Ah well.
We still have kill them all.
