Poe had no idea why she had wound up all the way out here...alone - it was pretty much unheard of for her to wander so far away from the safety of her grandfather's herd - and yet here she was. She'd gotten far to involved in following the butterfly that had captured her attention for her own good and now she was going to pay for her foolish mistake.

Shaking slightly in fear the little foal looked around for something familiar - oh how she wished she could see the familiar bouncing hide of her sister Lapin or her mother's steady presence, but sadly nothing so pleasing was in sight and all the little foal could see were the trunks of giant brooding trees and the dark path they sudden;y seemed to create. Whinnying shrilly she darted first one way and then another not quite sure which way she ought to go.

Garret was wandering threw the forest very proud of himself. He had just pranked his ninth victim that week. Though they were all weak and easily tricked he still felt it was a great accomplishment. He felt on top of the world ready to take any challenge and like he couldn't be brought down from his small throne. In the middle of his self praising he heard a shrill squeal. A noise he found absolutely delightful. "Number ten here I come," He whispered to himself as he stalked toward the sound.

When he finally found the lost child he'd already run threw fifty different ways he could attempt to scare frighten and possibly traumatize the weakling he was looking for. To his utmost glee what he found as the source of the scream was his favorite target, a small lost child prim for the crushing. Walking toward the child he decided to take a traditional approach by gaining the foals trust just to squash it seconds later. In his most creepy genteelness voice he smiled and asked, "what's wrong child I heard your wail are you lost? Where are your parents are they near by perhaps? Or maybe you were left here on purpose to feed the wolves?" his smile turned into a vile grin at his last statement as he looked down at the frightened creature.

Poe froze as she suddenly found herself in the presence of...thank the stars an adult! Although a shy foal Poe had always trusted adults - she had never been in the presence of any adult who would hurt her thanks to the relative safety of the Little Meadow Herd. Ducking her head shyly she stared at the ground and started to mumble out a reply to the stallions questions when she stopped short at his last remark.

Peeking up at him through her hair Poe took a few steps back and began to tremble a little bit "N..noo..I..I ju-just wand..wand..wandered off" She finally managed to stutter out. The look on his face was foreign to her - oh sure she'd had a few of the herd foals tease her from time to time but none of them had ever looked quite so mean while they had done so. The thought that she might be in the presence of a mean Soquili all by her lonesome was enough to make the filly start to cry. Perhaps she ought to run - but she still didn't know which way to go and that thought made her wail all the louder. She was lost and this stallion looked mean, maybe he'd eat her and she'd never see her family ever ever again! The crying got all the harder.

Oke was off on another of her herb gathering adventures, indeed it seemed that she had been running out of things faster then normal lately - the herd members were spreading out, exploring a bit more as they settled into this new land and with that exploration came of course..more injuries.

Thankfully most of the injuries were not that major - pulled muscles and slightly sprained fetlocks seemed to take up the most of her time but spring had also arrived and with it a host of new mothers who also needed looking after. Oke would hate to run out of something in an emergency and so trips into the woods was a constant activity. It was really to bad that Hypno's worked the nightshift with his lantern, she certainly would have liked a bit of company on her trips.. but alas she was alon...what was that?

Oke was sure that she had heard a cry coming from somewhere nearby and turning about she tried to locate the sound again.

Garret was utterly amazing and amused by how easily this child broke. He knew she'd be easy but he didn't realize just one suggestive comment and a grin would break her to tears. He chuckled slightly in his enjoyment, but also for the effect of laughing at her tears might have on this small foal. "But child if they really cared would they so easily have let you leave? Wouldn't they have noticed that you had wandered and looked to find you instead of letting you go alone in such dangerous woods. There are evils here that would wait a second to eat you whole weak child." He with a sneer in his voice. He took a few steps closer to the child. "I realize you wish to believe in your adults. They're the ones that are supposed to lead you on the right path. To protect you. But that's only a notion for naive little foals. Adults only ever want what they want. The ones that you believe are you guide are no different they'll easily let you feel pain if it means they are safe." While he says this some people might believe it's based on past experiences. Like maybe his father beat him or his mother just watched as he was attacked by something big and scary as he grew. But no he didn't even believe the words he was saying. He just knew they would hurt this obviously sheltered foal. Garret had far to many run ins in with self righteous dig bags in his old herd to know what he was saying was only partial truth. They were just the words he hoped would get the best reaction from this wailing child. And so far it seemed to be working.

Poe really just wanted to get away from this strange stallion - he was far to mean sounding for her delicate sensibilities to handle, to be honest she had never met anyone quite like this before and she wasn't entirely sure how to handle it. Being laughed at was nothing entirely new - she'd been laughed at for her fearful, nervous ways before but never had she been told such cruel things along with it.

"Tha..that's not true..." She stated in a quiet shaky voice, attempting to back away from the stallion and yelping a little bit when her rump hit a tree trunk. Ducking her head she tried to hide behind her mane. Her mother loved her - she knew she did and so did her grandfather and her sister, this stallion was just lying to her, Poe was sure of it but he was still frightening and she was still lost. What was he going to do to her when he got tired of saying nasty things? Would he turn to violence? Would he take her far away and leave her someplace terrible? Poe's mind created more then one terrible scenario that might come to be and those thoughts made her shake like a leaf in a strong wind. "I want to go home!...I want my mommy!" The foal sobbed.

While it took Oke a few moments to locate the source of the sounds she was hearing - she none the less managed to follow them and when she came upon the source she was quite shocked. She recognized the stallion from her the migrating herd and their old home and while he wasn't quite as ill tempered as Mornhavon in general his joy in tormenting others was something that Oke had always had a problem with.

"Garret!" Oke declared in a commanding tone "Just what do you think you are doing to that poor foal!" She asked, trotting into the clearing with a determined air about her - though she stopped long enough to cast the foal a quick warm look. As a healer Oke had an inner desire to help anyone who was wounded be that wound physical, mental or emotional.

Garret wouldn't actually hurt the little bugger, no he only wanted to scare the scared brat. And boy was he having fun doing it, just a few words and the anckel-bitter was already crying for her mommy. He was on the brink of dissolving into laughter, but doing so would be to unsightly for him and might ruin the evil look he was going for. "Hoping your mother will come and save you huh? Do you really think she'll want such a wimpy daughter that cries so easily?" he said leaning in closer.

"I'm sure she's laughing righ-" Right in the middle of his next sentence a familiar shout broke in. "Oke." He groaned the second he recognized the owner of the voice. "What's that wretched bat doing here? Didn't i go far enough away to avoid people like her?" He grumbled with a now sour look on his face. He never liked her, always trying to get him to play nice. Or making his victims calm down so his coveted whimpers would end far to early for his like. He had left the herd early and walked far away from where he thought they were going just to get away from her and it irritated him to no end finding her again. Though his acquaintance Sambo again, maybe he's just really easy to find or a magnet to his herd, that thought also irked him. "i was only trying to teach this young little rascal the dangers of walking out on his own." He said thew a forced smile. And turning back to the foal he said, "You never know what you might find in these dark woods." The last word accompanied by him snapping his teeth and cracking his tail to make a fearsome snap.

Poe was really really thinking about just running off into the woods - being lost couldn't be any worse then being at the mercy of this obviously mean stallion could it? She even took a quick dart towards the trees before the wind blew and rustled the leaves making her draw up with a start and jump back towards the safety of her tree trunk. The sound from the woods had brought to mind all the predators that might live in them. No she couldn't just dash off into the woods and she couldn't run past the stallion and go home either - he was much bigger and almost certainly faster then she was. It was true what he said too - she was wimpy..and she did cry easily, certainly easier then her sister Lapin did.

"Ple-Please don't feed me to the wolves!" She started to beg the stallion as he leaned in closer, cringing back as far as she could against the tree. The arrival of another unknown Soquili made her shudder in fright - until she realized that the mare wasn't speaking to her but to the stallion - and the look she gave her seemed so nice and kind that Poe felt a lurch of hope, she even started to take a step towards the mare when Garret turned back to gnash his teeth and snap his teeth at her. Yelping she jerked back to the tree trunk, trying to hide her face against the tree.

"The gods help any foals you might have in the future if this is the way you want to teach such things" The mare chastised as she trotted forward to try and insert herself between Garret and the foal. "A bit of help and a kind talk would have done just as well I think" She went on.

"Garret!" She shrilled at the stallion when he turned back to torment the foal further "Stop that at once! How will you ever find a mare if you treat foals in that manner! No future mother will stand for it!" She warned the stallion and surely he wanted to find a mate someday right? Didn't everyone? Life would be an awfully dull place without love in it. Perhaps he truly didn't know any better however and really was trying to teach the foal a lesson. Oke always tried to see the good side of those around her and she was often willing to give others the benefit of the doubt.

Turning to look at the foal she gave her a reassuring look "Do not fret dear..Garret's bark is much worse then his bite, no harm will come to you - in fact I bet he can help us get you back to your family..can't you Garret?" She asked, turning to give the stallion a commanding stare.

Garret huffed at her as she put herself in between her and the wee brat. "I'll teach the child the way my mum and pa taught me and how their mum and pa's taught them. The hard way. I spent a good portion of my child hood getting out of tough situations they put me threw and I think this kid could use the same form of schooling." He said giving the brat a vague smile and a snicker when she mentioned the wolves. "if this milksop can't handle a little bit of tough learning she deserves the wolves she'd be heading to."

Jumping slightly as Oke shrieked his name. He turned his lowered head to her ears flight on his head grumbling, "Old bat never letting me enjoy my fun." Straightening up to answer her assumptions he voiced, "If my mate wont let me teach our kiddies right then she ain't right for me and I'll leave her in no time flat!" He felt slightly perturbed that he would give off even the slightest impression of wantin' a kind mother type for his woman. He would only ever go for a girl who'd hold her own ground and know the importance of learnin' hard. not some ninny brained fool who'd want to rear their brats up like frail sissies. that'd be no good. "To think she'd even dream o' me with a milksop like that. humph." He grumbled under his breath.

Glaring at Oke then at the kid. He wasn't no pansy but the shrew was right as rain, he wouldn't hurt even this bugger just scary 'er silly. But he wasn't normally nice enough to help the damn foal. Still he was guessing if he didn't help oke wouldn't let him hear the end of it and he rather not spend the rest of the day with her scretching in his ear about how horrible he was ad how he should follow a better path. So sighing heavily and glaring knives at the female Putti he growled, "She 'll help find the babies home." A small bright thought mde him smile though. 'Maybe one the way I c'n squeeze a little more fun out of the little ankle bitter. "This'll be interesting" He muttered thinking of ways to torment the little foal in Oke's view.

"He..he will?" Poe asked, peeking out slowly to look first at the mare - who seemed kind and gentle and then at the stallion who was still more then a little bit scary. She couldn't picture him as a father like the kind mare was implying he might be someday - perhaps his foals would be as mean as he was. Poe hoped that she never met them to find out,

With the hope of finding her family Poe edged away from the tree, sidestepping until she was hiding behind the mare and peeking out at the stallion from there - she didn't quite believe that the stallion wouldn't hurt her - anyone who said things that mean could do cruel things she was sure of it. Still..she really wanted to go home..."My..my grandfathers herd live's in a clearing beside the stream" She shared with the two adults in the hope that they would know where she was speaking of.

Oke blinked at Garret, one of her brows slightly arched in what could only be seen as skepticism before she responded and while there was no hint of sarcasm in her voice her remarks could only be taken as such "Oh yes..and we can all see how well that sort of raising worked out" She told him in a falsely bright and cheerful tone.

Oke was generally an overly happy mare - why she'd even dealt with cranky old Dendro without being annoyed with him, but Garret...Garrets love of pestering others just rubbed her the wrong way. If what he said was true however then it probably wasn't his fault that he was the way he was...his parents had made him like that.

Snorting slightly she turned her attention to the foal, turning about to nuzzle her in gentle reassurance before nodding at her comments and turning to Garret "A stream shouldn't be to had to find, surely Garret can manage that..can't you Garret?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 20, 2012 9:00 am

Garret glared at Oke, "I was raised just tah suit my k'nd." Then he glared at the ankle bitter peeved that even for a second his image would be tarnished by a good deed like this. He wanted to be know for causing fear and mayhem, not helping little lost wast of spaces find their ay home. What will he do if it gets out the Garret the great and the fearsome had actually HELPED someone. He would be the laughing stock of all imps. Still he was weak against righteous fellows like Oke, their nagging was just so endless and annoying. And if he knew his luck running from this situation would just make everything worse. So taking a deep breath and giving a big aggravated sigh he started to look around. "You want a stream huh? Fine." Moving the small bat like wings next to his ears so they cupped around his ears to magnify sounds he started to listen. He closed his eyes and slowly moved his head from side to side till he herd a small babbling sound he recognized as flowing water. Opening his eyes he flicked his head toward the direction he heard it from. "I don't if it's what your lookin' f'r but I hear water moving a little ways that way. Shouldn't be too hard for you to find Oke." He said hoping just a little that she'd leave it t that at let him leave while the little annoyance and the old bat went off the find the place the foal had described.

Poe watched as the stallion moved those weird wing things on his head to listen for water..that was..weird. Poe had never seen someone with wing on their head before - although now that she was looking and no longer nearly paralyzed with fear she noticed that the mare had them too - although her's were different.

Of course even as she studied these difference's she mentally chastised herself, she it anyone ought to know what it was like to be pointed out as different shouldn't she? At least she'd had the wisdom to keep her observations to herself. Maybe that was why the stallion was so grumpy..maybe some pony's teased him for being different. If she had know that they were breed traits she might not have been so worried about asking about them but Poe had never meet any of the other Usdia breeds before.

"th-thank you" She managed to murmur out at the stallion before looking hopefully at Oke.
