This is a SOLO RP Where: Spades, inside and outside the mansion that Sully and Zale live in. What's happening: After the events of Zale knocking over a cake inside the mansion and becoming noticed, Sully has taken Zale aside to tell him what must be done, and how his life will begin to change. This is the moment where Zale's life changes completely.
"You won't be safe if you're weak."
Their eyes locked. The small boy sucked in a nervous breath, though it wasn't because of the mans words. It was more because of the fact that he was finally in public. The mansion members knew of him, knew he existed, and he wasn't sure if this was delicious or not. If he finally felt like he was real, or if he was afraid. He wasn't sure anymore, but he knew that his life was different.
He shuddered as his eyes focused on Sully, widening yellow orbs and taking a step back. His eyes were afraid, and Zale had never seen him so scared in his short, pathetic life. Sully moved, causing Zale to flinch until hands rested on his shoulders. Large eyes looked upwards, seeking what the man was trying to say, seeking an answer. Sully made a choking sound, chest heaving and arms pulling Zale into a tight hug. The only thing Zale knew to do was to rest small, fragile hands on his back, head raised and eyes staring off into space.
Whatever was wrong, it frightened him, too. Because Sully was scared, and if Sully was scared then so was he....
"I'm so sorry."

Zale curled himself onto the floor, heaving in pain. His chest screamed in protest, his limbs ached, and his heart hammered. His breath was ragged, rough, violent. His legs drew up into his chest, arms wrapping around them. He wanted to be small again. He wanted to pretend he was not being watched. He wanted to go back.
However, he couldn't, and it was all his fault.
He shouldn't have defied Sully. He shouldn't have left the room. Now, everyday he watched as hungry eyes trailed after him. He had never known before, but he lived in a house of monsters. Everyone smelled of blood. Once, he had passed a room and saw someone strapped to a chair, hunched over, sweating, bleeding. When Zale froze he saw a white sliver in the darkness of the room, a smile. The door was shut slowly, the creaking of the hinges not loud enough to mask the screaming.
This house was so wrong, and he had never known. He wanted to go back, or even vanish. Everyday was the same, mixed with fear and adrenaline. He could feel himself changing, and he was so very afraid.
Sully opened the door, eyes coldly viewing him before nodding, shutting the door as he left once more. Zale didn't bother to look up. Sully had become cold and distant, only speaking to him during training. Training. His legs pulled up closer at that word. Training was violent, filled with weapons and violence. Sneaking and lying. He was becoming stronger, he knew this, but not mentally. He was crumbling mentally. He was shattering. He could feel himself fall apart. He was not raised for this, and now that suddenly his life was changing...
Sully seemed in pain, and afraid to look at Zale. He seemed so reluctant to even face him unless it was training, and then he became someone else. Zale had never felt so alone before. No, he had Malo. That was it. Malo.
He shuddered, hiding further. He couldn't face Malo now. He was becoming the thing Malo hated, a true Spades delegate. A sob escaped his mouth, choking. No. He was becoming a monster. He was becoming....
One of them..

It had been months, and Zale was growing faster. Stronger. He was... exceptional. Sully was shocked by the raw talent in the boy. In the beginning the boy was clumsy, fumbling about and falling over himself. Now.... He was not perfect, far from it, but he was coming along quickly.
Guilt flashed in his heart as his eyes trailed after the boy. Zale was quiet. His eyes were cold, viewing the various Spade members with little interest. A scream pierced the mansion and Zale simply continued his path to the kitchen. Sully had tainted him, he liked to believe that it was for the best. If Zale had continued to be that small, weak, sniveling child he would have never survived in Spades. Yet, he could have given Zale away as an egg, avoided all of this. Hell, he could have killed Zale.... it was better than...
But the damage was done, and his sweet, quiet boy was now still quiet, but cold. Hard to reach. He was becoming perfect for the job he was being trained for, and yet.... Sully grimaced. He was witholding affection to harden the boy, but he wondered if that was appropriate. Zale was now at the point of rejecting any kindness offered to him, and that was directly his fault.
s**t, he was screwing up so bad, wasn't he?
Henrik viewed Zale with narrowed eyes whenever he visited. Sully wondered what the man thought. Henrik lived to raise and fix the broken, it seemed Sully was only good for breaking the whole, all the while helplessly believing it was for the best. No, he had screwed up. He had screwed everything up.
"Move. You are in my way."
Sully lowered his gaze to view Zale. The boy was holding toast, waiting to be allowed passage through the doorway. Quickly, Sully moved, watching Zale drift back to the training grounds. Before, the boy would have stammered.... perhaps nervously flail. Now? He....
His hands gripped his head, tensing. He needed to stop doing this to himself. He needed to stop. He was a Spades member, he knew the price. He always had. He had no right, anyway. He was a murderer as well, it wasn't surprising he'd make a young child into one, either. He used to say that he did it only for survival, but he dragged down an innocent boy with him...
Stop. He needed to stop.
