 The sun was still peeking up in the sky, there was perhaps another hour of daylight Peren reckoned, a little late to be waking up, even for her. As usual she looked about and spotted no-one, why was it she seemed to be on a opposite sleep schedule to most she knew? Mind you that wasn't hard, she didn't know many in her herd, she rarely even saw her siblings though she always felt safe and secure. With no plans at the time she flexed her newly grown wings, bowed her head and tried to scent out the nearest water hole, waking always left her with a dry tickle in her throat.

 Glossanor was just leaving his post for the day. It was time for a quick drink and then perhaps a run through the forest to stretch his legs. He was a bit excited and so started to trot and suddenly he tossed his mane and kicked his hind legs out. He saw a pretty young mare not far from him and he quickly composed himself and trotted with a bit more dignity. "Good day young one," he called. "What brings you out here?"

Jumping a little in surprise at the sudden burst of speech from what she'd assumed was empty Peren tried to compose herself by shaking out her mane. Once she'd recovered she looked up to spot the owner of the voice, it hasn't scared her, she'd never had purpose to be scared so wouldn't even know what it felt like! Male, very handsome she thought quietly in her head as a smile came to her lips and she bowed her head "Evening undetermined aged one". Her smile slipped to a slight chuckle as she looked around again not spotting anyone else but now not sure who else could be. "I just woke up... and I'm hoping there is somewhere to get a drink... I'm not sure I've been to this part of our lands yet."

He tilted his head at her in acknowledgement. "I'm not much older than you," he chuckled. "A little late to be waking up but to each their own. Some sleep all day and prefer the night." He moved past her and then angled towards her. "If it's water you seek, water you shall have. I know a little stream down in the forest. Care to join me?"

"Everyone's older than me, or so it seems." Perens smile held up, she used to dislike that fact but now she was filling in her adult hooves she was kinda over it, she'd age and acquire knowledge, all the knowledge. Then when she was really old and on her last wing feathers she'd feel like she'd earned it and tell stories of her life to young ones, that thought amused her more than it probably should. "I must be the only one, maybe one day I'll meet another in the herd who's body works the same way, one day eh?"
Nodding vigorously she trotted a little closer and stood ready to follow him "That would be lovely, thank you....." she found herself at a loss when she didn't know his name, he hadn't told her right? Oh if he had she'd be so embarrassed but she couldn't place it, no she was sure he hadn't told her his name.

The stallion smiled at her. "I'm sure you'll find others. The name is Glossanor, Gloss for short. Some call me the Ice Prince however." And with that he trotted off into the forest. Picking his way expertly, as if he had traveled the path a hundred times and that wasn't far from the truth.
"The water from this stream is cool and tasty. And before you ask, yes...water can be tasty." He grinned.

As she listened she readied to move, so when he started off she kept pace, not wanting to loose the handsome male. "Ice prince? I'm Peren, or the Ice twin as I seem to be referred to most of the time, It's nice to meet another Ice." She smiled and came to a stop with him peering over the water.
It looked as cool and tasty as he said, she believed him "Nothing is as tasty and refreshing as a lap of water after the warm days we get. Too warm if you ask me, it's much nicer at this time, everything chills down, it's peaceful." As she finished her voice went wistful, she had no real reason to avoid the day, she didn't dislike the other herd members, she hadn't even met most of them outside of her father and siblings! Yet the peace promised by the night was something she felt comfort in and as the sun made its way down in the sky she welcomed the moon and the night.

"Ahhh, two icy stars in a warm world," he laughed out loud. He took a long drink of the cool stream and then sighed. It had been warming up considerably. Summer was here, the spring blooms where long gone. Replaced by seed pods and summer blossoms and even fruit!
"Peren," he said quietly, "We have just met and yet are both adults. Where you born into the herd? Or joined recently?"

Whilst he spoke she took a turn at lapping up some water, savouring the cool liquid before letting it slid down her throat, invigorating it as it went. It's chill running over her full length and tipping her into a fully awake state finally. Opening her eyes to take in the slight breeze from the coming night she felt herself relax, she had something in common with the male, other than the herd thing, that was nice.
Laughing along with his observation she nodded her agreement, seemed that way! "I was born to it, my father leads the Sunlight bit, I don't really understand most of it... but it keeps him really busy."

Gloss' head turned so quickly he felt dizzy as he stared at the young mare. "Your father is the Sunlight leader?!" He blinked and then he knew he had to ask. "What about your mother? Who is she?" The mare didn't look much like dad. She couldn't be from his mother either. This was an odd moment. He didn't know his father had begot more offspring. Also, it was most recently that his father took a lifemate, Ithildra, and she had not bore any children at all.
The realization that he was standing next to a half sibling he did not know about was astounding.

Suddenly Peren felt in the spotlight as if the males eyes where boring in on her and everything else was forgotten, she was completely oblivious to the real reason and put it down to her fathers position. When the questions about her mother came in thick and fast she blinked and thought back she found images there weren't many but they did envelope her in a warm feeling. "Her name is Shula, she spent time with us when we where much younger but I saw less and less of her as we grew, though I suppose I spend less and less time with the rest of our litter too." Shrugging she suddenly felt sad and wasn't sure why, her sleep pattern always played havoc on family time and she did miss them, especially her twin.
Digging herself out of thought she peered at the handsome male and noticed he looked a little off from a moment ago, either something was up or there was something in the water. "Are you feeling unwell Ice prince?" She asked with a playful smile.

He shook himself and glanced at Peren. For some reason he was a bit uncomfortable but he shoved it down and composed himself, again. At this rate he was going to be frazzled by the time he returned to his mate.
"I'm quite alright Peren. I was just astounded by the fact that we are half siblings through our father, Lore. My mother, however, is Helki. She is the leader of the Dreamer's Glass herd. I have a similar relationship with her but only by choice." He moved away from the babbling spring and gazed up at the sunlight that filtered through the trees from an angle declaring the evening hours. "Our father has apparently gotten around before settling down," he suddenly declared.

Her mouth dropped at the words half siblings, this handsome male was her half brother? "We're...?" Blinking she took a step back and looked him over now thinking of her father, she should see a few resemblances but nothing that screamed Hey! I'm Lores Son, Sup Sibling! Suddenly her mouth felt dry and she took another quick drink before turning back to him and letting out a steady breath. "Father told us of our other siblings, and that we had a large and loving family but I've never really... well I've met a cousin but a siblings that's rather a different story!" Peren had mixed emotions, it wasn't that she didn't know of their existence but meeting him was such a strange coincidence and she'd thought him so handsome! Well he still was of course but in a rather different light, that'd teach her to have any thoughts of those kinds again.
"Well..." She didn't really know what to say to the last comment, was it uncommon for a male to have offspring from a number of partners? "He seems happy with his mate now, I expect we'll have many more half siblings to come yet." She smiled and tried to appear happy, she wasn't jealous but Shula was her and her litter mates mother, in her mind she liked to picture a love between her parents that wasn't there. Suddenly she could see why Gloss was feeling a little off and uncomfortable with the current situation "I'm sorry... I didn't know you where my half brother." She tried to chuckle it off and nodded her head "It is a pleasure to meet you though."

Gloss smiled slightly. "We do have a large and loving family. And with the fact of who my mother is, it's larger still. Just...." and this he said with a deadpan expression, "just avoid Monoceros. He's my cousin and nephew but also your cousin. Ceros is a bully in my opinion..." With that Gloss snorted. "There is another two set of twins. My brothers Loki and Huayna and then my sister Epiphany. If I'm right Epiphany has children with my mate's sister and Loki has children as well and there was another set of twins there too. They look like our dad plus two more who look like both Loki and their mother Dew. I heard she doesn't have all her marbles."
He looked over at Peren. "It's nice to know the family has grown and will be wonderful to see it grow even more. And they are mostly spread between just the two herds." He tilted his head and pondered a moment, "Will your mother join the herd?"

After Gloss spoke she decided to answer his questions before asking anymore of her own "I don't believe so... I don't really know much about her" her lips curled into a forced yet gentle smile. "Do the herds meet often? I've never been out of the herd territory but I didn't know of any event that may be held."
The advice about their cousin made her feel uncomfortable, she'd always felt so safe and protected here and there where mean people in her herd too? Peren wouldn't even know what to stay clear off, she'd have to talk to him first to find out his name then... would it be too late to avoid the whole situation? "What does this cousin look like? So I may try to take your advice, brother." Calling him her brother in a actual conversation felt bizzare and yet fun, like it was a joke that only she was in on.
