Roll a Nine: Seashore Field: Split down the middle between land and sea, this field compliments land and water type pokemon. On the west end of the field is the land section: fine grained sand gradually slopes downward to meet the salt water on the east end of the battleground. A single palm tree wavers lightly in the breeze while shells are scattered in random places in and on the sand. In the water half of the battleground, the water laps at the sand much like at a real beach; when it retracts it leaves behind strands of seaweed and pieces of coral. Both are found under the water, offering shelter for water-types (or those who can hold their breath for great periods of times). This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GROUND and WATER type attacks.

Lenore shielded her eyes from the sunlight as she emerged into view of the seashore. Mephistopheles floated up in front of her, surveying the landscape. It wasn't all that useful to him, so he put it out of his mind. Turning to Lenore, he gave a short wave before descending onto the beach to await his opponent.

The shushing of water on the beach informed Shina that this was the beach field even before she had reached her trainer box. It wasn't a particularly beneficial field for Tenka, but it wasn't a detrimental field either. Shina released Tenka, and the electric flying squirrel immediately flew up to land in the palm tree, surveying the field below him.

Mephistopheles spotted the squirrel as he landed on the tree, and flew up to meet him. "Sir? Sir. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Mephistopheles - you may call me Mephisto, if you so choose. I will be your opponent tonight, and I will begin the battle. Tenka chittered angrily as he was blasted out of the tree by the powerful ice attack. He most certainly did mind! Flying right up to the Duskull's face he proceeded to loudly inform the other pokemon of how much he disliked being blasted out of the tree by an ice attack.

Mephistopheles nodded at the Emolga's words. "I pray your forgiveness, sir, I did not mean to offend. But I am at a loss. I wish to regard you with respect, but I must earn money so that my charge may eat. She can't do much by herself, but she would do anything for me, and I for her. So I must decline to apologize, and instead opt to achieve victory."
He once more raised his arms, pointing at the emolga. The winds picked up once more, encircling the emolga.
