Zanzo stood at the head of the largest table in the room. Around the table stood every seated officer of squad 8 in the seireitei. Zanzo had called them for a meeting. She began with, "We are at war." She paused before continuing, "The arrancar have attacked shinigami working in Karakura. The Captain Commander has declared war." another pause before, "An alliance has been made with the Quincy of Karakura to allow us more time to prepare. We are to begin counter-intelligence measures." She began pointing at people to give them instructions. "You, you and you; sweep the compound for bugs and rat-holes. I want no information finding its way into arrancar ears from here on out. If you think the walls hold secrets, tear them down. You and you, prep security. Nobody enters or leaves without knowledge. You, retrieve all information on known arrancar. Put it in my office. You five begin tactic "Thousand League Ears". Don't give me that look, you know why. You three begin encryption protocols. The last two, you and you, get me a status update on the monitoring systems. I want to know if they are fixed, how long it will take, and why they went down in the first place. Everyone, report all suspicious activity immediately. Perform your duties, and do the Gotei proud. Dismissed!" She stood there for a moment, watching her subordinates hurry off to do as instructed, before leaving for her office to await news.
