The twitchy feeling had been eating at him for what felt like forever. In actuality, it had been all of thirty-six hours since he had seen one of those stupid flyers that had seemingly sprang up overnight. Seeds of irrational worry had quickly planted themselves somewhere in the vicinity of his stomach, and now they were fully grown and pecking at his insides like hungry corrividus. He couldn't avoid the inevitable much longer. It was time for prom again.
He knew that he had to ask Levi to go with him. There was no question. It wasn't like he lacked the capability or anything, but when he thought of actually doing it, his brain ground to a halt, and he found something, anything, else to do other than contact her. It was starting to get a bit ridiculous, not to mention the fact that he was running out of time. He needed an excuse to see her. It was only after he started contemplating what he was going to wear that it hit him.
He owed her a dress.
Had that been what she had been hinting at the last time they had been together? Did she want him to help pick out the successor to the outfit he had ruined? Sneaky. Very sneaky. On the one hand, West approved. On the other, he did not approve.
It was still fairly early, just after the maul would have opened for the day, but he tapped the face of his eyePhone and dialed her shiny new number anyway. She would be awake, he was sure of it.

Sweets, be still! Chasing her wet candy corn treat around the bathroom was a regular thing when it came to baths. The treat always seemed to have more energy after it was wet, attempting to shake away excess water and lay down on all thing soft. Levi realized this after finding her pillow soaked one time. Now, she either bathed her minis during the day bright and early or late at night before bed, keeping the bathroom door closed to avoid runaways. Popcorn was relatively sedated by candy, but Sweets was more hyped up than a tatzelwurm on skates. The yellow brick she'd become a bit more familiar with was laying down on her furry brown bedspread all the way at the other end of the room. Holding a towel, Levi bounced around the tiny bathroom, potentially knocking over the clothes hamper while Sweets chittered away excitedly. AHA! Pouncing at the mini when it landed on the soft piles of clothing toppled over the floor, Levi cackled her usual hillbilly cackle. It was fun despite the clean-up that would result from this. With Sweets balled up in the towel within Levi's arms, the ghoul thought it safe enough to open the bathroom door. That was when she heard it. Aw, geeze... With a quick sigh, she bolted for the device that rang and rang to the anthem of This is Halloween. Gotcha! However, by the time her fingers wrapped around the eye phone, the ringing had stopped. On the screen was one tiny notification window overlapping her background image of her vines: West- dangit. Sitting over her cover now, starring at the message till the screen went black, Levi rubbed onto Sweets with the towel, thinking of what to do about this. Do I call back?

The phone rang. And rang. And rang. When it clicked into her voicemail West hung up, eyeing the screen with a frown. Was she out? Did she not know how to answer? He really should have showed her that. He began to count down from one hundred, not wanting to seem too eager to talk.
Ninety-nine, ninety-eight, ninety-seven...
He got to eighty-one before he dialed again.

West had gotten further into his counting than Levi officially had. The white-haired tatzel made it down to 90 before she redialed. Bite 'tha bullet, ghoul. No sooner than she saw the screen change to tell her there was an outgoing call being made that Levi became unsure of how to answer.
As West punched in the numbers, he'd find his phone begin to ring.
Should she put it to her ear? Or to her mouth? Curling one ear down, Levi opted for speech, hoping the earpiece of the eyephone would be high enough for her ear to catch West's voice on the other side.

He sat up straighter when his phone began to ring in his hand, somehow startled that it was doing so. Ah, she was there. He briefly contemplated how to answer before deciding that was a completely stupid thing to be worried about.
"Levi?"

His voice actually eased her up. The volume was fine, she could hear him fine and the voice- it was just West. There wasn't really anything different about it when she heard him. Despite the situation, she was just receiving a phone call from West.
Aye. What'cha doin', West? I know how to pick up the phone, see? Levi was casual in tone as if it were nothing at all for her to use an eyephone. What can I do fer'ya? She continued to hold and rub at the damp towel-rolled-treat, listening in.

"Oh, hey," he said. His tone was slightly surprised, as if he had somehow expected someone else to pick up. "I'm, uh, not doin' anythin'." He rolled his eyes. This was why he didn't talk to people on the phone. He sucked at it.
West sighed then swallowed. This wasn't the hard part. He wasn't asking her yet. This was just the dress part, the maul part. The part she expected. Although if she didn't expect the other part, he would be very surprised. "Today," he blurted. "What're you doin'?" He stood and paced the room once, speaking again once he was back where he started. It didn't take long. His room wasn't very large.
"Couldja... go to the maul today? If yer not doin' anythin'?"

Oh. Well, the tatzel ghoul wondered, then why would you be calling me?! There had to be a resin he was calling, right? Why would West call for no particular reason? Just to talk? Was this something boil friends just did? So many sudden questions flew in and flew out immediately when the wrath demon then asked her a question. Uh, nothin' but tha' norm n'less...
The maul. He has asked rather abruptly as if in a hurry. Then again, West always had a rather speedy tone; was it any different right now? Or was she just hearing him differently? Well- ... ... ... sure. There was a pause. Payin' me back, are ya?
It was indeed around prom time; the flyers were around. As she'd hoped he'd do, West was going to go with her for buying a prom dress. He'd destroyed her last one, so it was indeed a matter of payback. Now, however, it was a little more than just that. She and West were going to the maul together. They would be going out together; as a couple. They were going out together as a couple in public.
Oh Jack. The grip she had on Sweets loosened, causing the treat to wrestle out of its confinement and fly over towards the kitchen. AYE! BEHAVE, YEW!

West relaxed as soon as she agreed, flopping back onto his bed. He didn't even have much of a reaction to her questioning declaration that he owed her, so strong was his relief over the fact that asking her was over. "Yeah, I guess," he replied, the smirk on his lips clearly evident in his voice.
Anyway, he did owe her. He was past denying it. What he had done had stemmed largely from a need for revenge and sometimes he wasn't the best at controlling those sorts of things. At least he was sorry now.
He hopped to his feet again, crossing the room to rifle through his closet. What to wear? What would be appropriate for their... first... date? Was that what this was? Shouldn't he know? He really didn't want to ask. Something nice then.
"So, I'll come by in—" West let out a startled huff as she yelled, dropping the hanger he was holding and pulling the phone away from his ear. "What? What'd I do?" He was behaving, wasn't he?

Levi couldn't help but laugh over the phone when West took her hollering as a message pertaining to him rather than Sweet. kekeke~ Nah, Sweets dun gone scurryin' 'round tha' kitchen, dangit. In the background, a continuous chirping could be heard with a very soft growl- coming from Levi.
No. NO. DON'TCHA'DO IT! DON- hisssss~ As her sigh faded through her slight hissing, Levi continued on. Shook all over tha'place. Gotta go wipe things down but... c'mon over whenever, boil. I'm ready fer ya. She waited on edge to hear if he'd hang up first or how they were to end the call. Should she just hang up now? He did say he'd come by, but not when. The ghoul reasoned that it was best to wait. Even if there was an overactive treat rubbing up against the warm stove top in the kitchen.

Oh. Well, he supposed that was okay then. Yelling at Sweets was something West could get behind. Squeaky b*****d. West might have offered to kick the treat for her, but he knew that wouldn't go over well. He supposed it would be like someone offering to kick Master, even though only Jack could grasp their similarities. He certainly couldn't. Master was useful and self-sufficient and amusing and... fluffy. He shook his head. Whatever. "Yeah, I'll..." West retrieved the hanger he had dropped and brushed at the shirt draped on it, temporarily tucking the phone between his cheek and shoulder. "I'm comin' over now. Gimme ten min—" Something clicked. He frowned. Somehow he had managed to hang up with his face. --- Eight minutes later, West knocked at Levi's door. "I'm comin' in," he announced. Barging into her room still made him uncomfortable, but she could hardly complain. And anyway, didn't he have some room invasion rights now as her boilfriend? He pushed open the door a crack, then widened it enough to fit his head through.

It was true that Levi got scraped up and damaged articles of clothing in fights- but her dorm and living space had always been kept neat and tidy. Such was a teaching from back home that the ghoul took to rather easily. It made good sense to keep clean the place where you called home.
Levi would spend at least three of those minutes talking into the phone until the tone came on. The next 5 minutes she spent wiping down the kitchen and grabbing onto Sweets, settling it back in the towel, before diving for her cowboil boots at the front door and making her way over to the steps by her bed to wriggle into them. Luckily, the country ghoul was up early enough to already have on her attire for a regular old day: orange tank top and jean shorts. Her routine of watering and tending to the vines was done and now all that was left was to remember to bring that yellow brick of an eyephone with her. Popcorn was drying off in it's urn and Sweets had fallen asleep almost instantaneously now that it was somewhat dryer.
Her last boot was just about on when she heard West. Glancing up, a toothy smile erupted, followed by an active tail swaying. She wasn't the least bit surprised that he'd come right in. Goodmornin'. Been 'while since ya came 'ere this early. Pulling on either side of the one boot till her heel slid in comfortably, Levi rolled her foot around before arising from her stoop and walking towards West. Did'ja eat? Wanna drink 're somethin'? Or we just gonna head-on out?
.. ya'll ready fer some dress shoppin'? Oh, Levi definitely was; the suspiciously peppy tone to her voice for this question certainly showed just how ready she was.
The tatzel counted off things she needed to bring with her. Phone? Check. Some silver seeds just in case? Check. That was about it.

"Mornin' t'you," he replied, pulling the door partially shut behind him. He was glad to see her smile. That one seemingly genuine response served to temporarily silence several of his ever-present worries about the ghoul and made him feel less, well, stupid. It confirmed, in an instant, that she really liked him too. He blinked and opened his mouth, intending to refuse her offer of food, but that response was suddenly put on hold.
Instead West guffawed, an honest, ridiculous, completely unexpected belly laugh that held him in place for a moment as the brief sound faded. He took a step closer, then another, until he was entirely too close, at least in his opinion. The boil swallowed. "Guess I am," he said, his voice leveling again. "But not as ready as you are." The amused smirk threatened again, but he forced it from his face. "We should jus' go." His hands slowly retreated behind his back, clasping his wrists. "They've got all kindsa food there when we get hungry."
He eyed her seeds suspiciously, finally deeming them necessary just in case they were separated. If she tried to buy anything more expensive than a piece of gum, it would take more than his credit card down her shirt to stop him from paying this time. West finally took a step back, pulling open the door again and stepping back into the hall.

Levi tilted her head, placing her folded hands at her back, when West began to laugh in a rather hearty fashion. Oh~ somebody's sure in'a mood taday. Levi liked this deep sort of sound coming from West. It wasn't difficult for her to tell that he too was likely just as eager to get going on this... trip together. No, not due to the fact that they were shopping for dresses; at least Levi was pretty sure that wasn't the case. Her smile remained wild and smug when West moved in closer but not close enough, in her opinion.
The act of going to the maul together, or trips in general, sometimes had implications, according to the ghoulie whispers of her peers in the halls and bathrooms. It meant the tatzel was going out and being seen in a public space with West on purpose with his preferred company; a date. The more she thought carefully over it, the more Levi wanted to move in even closer to prod, jab or generally touch the boil. As of late, small gestures of touch seemed to play a large part of her interactions with her boilfriend.
At the least, Levi greeted him properly for a moment, her tail quickly snaking behind him to curl around his tail be fore quickly retreating stealthily as she responded. They got lot'sa food in that thar market? Clothing mixed with the sales of food; sounded like a pretty typical farmer's market like back home. Right now, Levi's vision of the maul was stalls of goods lined up within a big building. Somewhere in that vision was wagons and a shoveling gnome cleaning up after the skeleponies. Following West out the door, Levi gave her minis a quick order before clicking the door shut, but not locked. Popcorn, yer in'charge! Behave ya'll.
A skip forward and the ghoul was back at West's side, bouncing down the steps as if it were a race to see who could exit the building faster. Eager? She was, yes; just a smudge eager to see the maul she'd heard so much about. Lookin' fer anythin' yerself? Or ya'll really just comin' fer me? Was he always ready with wears at his dorm for any old occasion?

He was almost fully back in the hall when he felt her tail, and although the greeting was unexpected, he kept his cool. His only response was to shove his hands in his pockets and press his arms to his sides. Their tails were still alone, he supposed. And it seemed there was no one out here to see them anyway. West swallowed and kept walking.
When she had caught up, he deliberately pulled his hands from their comforting hiding place, letting them swing at his sides like he was the most comfortable demon in Halloween. It was a respectable attempt at normalcy, at least. They were just two fighting partners going out to get some sparring supplies. Right.
"They've got food, yeah," he confirmed. "All kinds. Most ofit's... bad fer you, I guess." West shrugged. The effects of grease on teenage skin had never been an issue for the boil, nor any other sort of other negative permanence, really. For a moment, he thought of his scars, the ones stolen from him in that stupid haunted house. He would have liked to have kept those. But now was not the time.
"Now tha'would depend on you, wouldn'it?" he said vaguely. He was very likely to end up with several things for himself if she agreed to be his... date. West took a breath and sighed it out as he turned to her with a faint smirk. The maul was in the opposite direction from where they had obtained her phone, and he gestured that way before heading there himself. "This way."
