Well, Jack had been quite helpful on the dancing front. But that was not enough. There was still the matter of clothing. Alexander had said that just wearing a simple mask would be fine, but then it also seemed like it was kind of important. More so than Scarentines Day, and to that event he had worn his best clothing. So obviously this should be better.
The few silver seeds he had on him might counter that hope. Still, he needed help. And there was someone that he felt he could always go to for help, even though her fashion sense might be described as...unique. Miss Danny.
Standing outside of the warm door that led to her room he paused, thinking it over. No, Prom was something he had agreed to accompany Alexander to. It was special, a date. He had to do whatever necessary to not disappoint him. He knocked.

Danny came out of her room with her toothbrush in her mouth and her horn file in her hands. She wasn't the image of unique fashion at all considering she was still in her pajama shorts and tank top.
"Hai Hin juff come in. Whaff's uff?" she said, toothbrush still in her mouth. Good luck deciphering that one.

Yin did understand that he was not a type of fowl. What was even better was that he had a friend that actually had hygiene. Had he ever seen Alexander brushing his teeth?
"Greetings Miss Danny, I hope I am not intruding." He had understood "come in" so he entered her room though he stayed as close as he could to the doorway, as she was apparently getting ready. "Miss Danny, do you know much about prom?" He was fidgeting slightly. "As in, what one would wear to it?"

Danny followed Yin into her own room, setting the horn file on her desk so she could free her hands. She brushed a few more times before taking it out of her mouth, holding it idly and talking with a mouth full of lava.
"A dress!" she answered, "Well I mean ... I wore one last year." Huh, that's right. Yin hadn't been at the last one.
She ran to her closet, throwing the toothbrush back in her mouth and pulling out the orange dress from a year ago. "Sfee? Tafahhhh~"

"A dress?" He asked, clearly worried. Or possibly he was just concerned about the possibility of her spitting lava on him, though it was likely a combination.
Well, the garment that she revealed was not quite as short as he had expected. But it was indeed a dress. "Is a dress...required? I...do not think I should be wearing ghoul's clothing." Because really, that was the main concern. He did not remember any direct rules about it but it might be considered attempting to impersonate a ghoul, and that was certainly wrong. "I understood that the main requirement was a mask?"

Danny looked at Yin. "I'm not really sure what boils wear ..." She thought back to last year. Hadn't Roch just shown up in his usual stuff with a nice shirt? She wasn't really sure.
"Mask? We have to have masks? Ughhhhhhh that's so much work." Whine whine whine forever whine.
Her phone began to ring, and Danny answered it without even the slightest concern that Yin was in the room. A slight pause as she listened to the caller. "Mummyyyyyyyy not now I'm with my friend."
Whineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

"Oh, that is fine," quite frankly? He felt relieved. If she did not know what boils wore than they probably did not wear a dress. That was music to his ears.
"Prom is a masquerade," (or were masquerades proms?) "and I think the masks come from that?" As her phone rang he fell silent, not wishing to intrude or interrupt. If anything he wanted to edge toward the door. Miss Danny's mother? Oh, he certainly should not intrude. "I could leave," he murmured quietly, though he was so determined not to interrupt that he might not have been loud enough to even be heard.

Danny mouthed "what's a masquerade?" as her mother continued to drabble on about some posh country club party or something. Really, Danny could care less about this kind of thing.
Yin offered to leave and Danny promptly sat on him, blocking any path of exit. She was heavier than the little mantis boil most likely. "No Mummy- I can't ... Mummy!" Danny bit her cheek as her mother continued to INSIST upon taking her to some party.
"I ... can't," Danny continued to insist, "I .........." She looked around the room for some sort of excuse, and found that she was sitting on it. "I have to go shopping! With Yin!"
Yup. Totally.

Yin could only shrug at her hopelessly, other than it being prom and there being masks eh could not tell her anything else about what a masquerade was. Miss Danny was blocking the door however, by seating herself on him. He held perfectly still, blinking in surprise, but in no way moved to unseat her.
"Shopping..." well, that had somewhat been the intention, though now that the idea was confirmed it somehow seemed more daunting than ever. "Yes, shopping for prom." Not that it would really make that much of a difference now that Miss Danny had her mind made up.

Danny snapped the phone closed looking absolutely mortified.
"My mummy's coming too."

The look on Miss Danny's face (well, what of it he could see at this angle) was horrified.
It only took four words before Yin's face mirrored her own.
Then, like the brave warrior he was he spoke up. "If you wish to be alone with her I could go another time."
Please?

She wanted to meat him.
She wanted to turn him into meat.
All of his male mantis fears were surfacing.
Wait, maybe she meant meet.
"When?"
AKA: how long do I have left to live?

"She said the maul at four ..." Danny drawled, staring off into space. She was so not in the mood for ANYONE to meet her mummy, let alone Yin. Not to mention they'd be shopping. Oh Jack.
She shook her head, attempting to put on a brave face. "I'll meet you at the courtyard okay ..."
Noooooooooooooooooooo.

Al-alright," he said hesitantly. As soon as she let him up he was out the door, making his way across campus to attempt in vain to make himself as presentable as possible. He noticed as he pulled on the gift from Ulmuka that the shirt was fraying at various parts of the stitching, but it would simply have to do.
Then he went back to the courtyards, possibly far too early, but he did not have a watch to tell him the time. And apparently he had never figured out what the numbers in the corner of his scraptop screen meant.
