Hlengiwe was busy cleaning herself away from the others. Despite having been born and raised in the Bonelands she still always had a feeling like she didn't quite belong. Of course, there weren't much notions of leaving in her head. She just wanted to be important to the pride. Her rough tongue cleaned the small purple mark on her right paw. She really couldn't leave, she loved her mother too much. Now that she was older, there was more expected of her.
Not wanting to run into anyone that she knew at the moment, she got up and walked within view of the others but away from them. She blinked her blue eyes when she came upon a lioness that looked familiar. Hlengiwe had never met her. Since she took after her mother quite a lot, she walked straight up to the stranger. "Hello, are you part of our pride? I think I've seen you before." Her smile was warm and welcoming.

Iyo had been pretty scarce around the pride, first with the moving then the new males coming in, then the stand off between them and the red lions, she'd found it all a bit unsettling, especially since so much had changed now. She liked the way it was, the way it had been before, when she and her sisters had first joined the band of lionesses. Now things were different, and she wasn't sure she agreed with it all.
She'd come to the tree to catch some shade, the desert sun being particularly harsh this day. She was thirsty, but she didn't want to run into any of The Others, so she'd settled for a break from the harsh rays.
Green eyes looked up as she was roused from her thoughts and she frowned slightly, not quite sure if the other was serious.
"Hello. Yes, I'm part of the pride, and have been for quite some time." She said matter-of-factly, tilting her head in thought. Perhaps she'd been more solitary than she first thought.

Hlengiwe ducked her head. She was embarrassed that she hadn't remembered that this lioness was part of the pride. Perhaps she tripped too much and every time there was a chance to meet her, she shoveled dirt with her nose instead. That might be it since she was still a little prone to falling over things. "I'm so sorry. I should have known. I'm Hlengiwe, you probably know my mother Njalo." It was a rare thing to meet someone in the pride that didn't know her mother. Njalo was the friendliest of them all.
Her eyes strayed towards the horizon. "Didn't expect to see one of ours so far from everyone else." That part was true. After all, she had walked off to be alone for a bit. Looked like she found new company instead.

"It is okay," she replied hurriedly, after watching the others reaction. Sometimes she could be a bit harsh, she couldn't help it. But Iyo knew when to apologies for hasty tongue, and she did so now. Besides, the lioness looked young, and right now Iyo didn't really have the time for youths.
"Pleased to meet you, Hlengiwe. My name is Iyo, you might perhaps know my sister, Tapa, we are practically identical, save for my golden color and her orange. I know of your mother." she replied, nodding. Njalo was the last lioness to bear cubs from Matifu before his reign was ended by Gareke, Iyo supposed that meant she must carry the blood of a past Umholi.
"I've been distant of late," she started, then paused, wondering what to say. Iyo didn't want to say she disagreed with many of the new changes, and doing so might spark something that would not end well. "All these changes have tired my out." She concluded, thinking it the safest thing to say.

Hlengiwe blinked her blue eyes at Iyo and then she slowly smiled. It didn't seem that the lioness was mad at her. That was a good thing. She always hated to upset anyone, especially the ones in her pride. Though she hadn't met much rogues to begin with. That made her want to get out there and talk to some. But that was for another time.
"Nice to meet you Iyo. I think I've seen your sister around!" Hlengiwe knew that she would know Njalo. She'd have to tell her mother about this later.
Iyo was talking about the red pelt lions most likely, the Firekin. It was definitely something new and a lot to take in she supposed. She was also very open so it wasn't such a big deal to her either. Mother also didn't seem to have any problems with it, from what she had observed. She wasn't entirely sure how to approach this subject as it was a very touchy one. "I can understand that. They are so different from us but I look at it as a learning experience." She sat down and shrugged. Everyone had a different opinion.

Iyo nodded. Her sister had always been the more sociable of the two. Still, they were great friends, despite any differences of opinion. No doubt they would be discussing their days adventures when they retired tonight.
"I guess you could say that," Iyo replied. She wasn't quite sure what they might learn from the red lions. It definitely sounded like they were quite an imposing lot. Iyo didn't know if she liked the thought of her future daughters interacting with lions who seemed barbaric, at least that's what she gathered from some of the conversations she overheard.
"I have no intention of learning from them, to tell the truth." Besides, she thought to herself, the years spent in the rogue lands had taught Iyo just as much as she could learn.
"Have you met any?" She asked, curious as to what the brown lioness made of them.

Hlengiwe shook her head. She hadn't personally met any of them. Though she knew for sure that she would in the near future. Especially since she wanted to train with them. Learning to fight like they did would give her a skill that could be useful to the pride. In case another less friendly pride came along, then she could protect her family. "No, I haven't. I'm not sure how I would approach one."
It saddened her that many of the pride would never accept the Firekin but she would have to learn to accept their opinion. "I'm sure you'll never have to deal with them if you don't want to." Hlengiwe was sure Gakere wouldn't force them to train with the red pelts. So those who didn't want to could just keep doing what they always did and ignore the Firekin.

"I supposed that is true," replied Iyo to her last comment. Unless something big convinced her otherwise, the golden lioness was sure she would never truly tolerate the red pelts. That they could just burst in and claim something as theirs when they had been using it for a time was just absurd to her. She just didn't like the thought of them training their cubs. As far as she thought, the lionesses were as good a bunch of hunting teachers as any. It was their responsibility to train their offspring, not a bunch of outsiders that they hardly knew.
"Just stay safe, you never know what you to expect from strange lions," Iyo nodded to her, caution in her tone. The rogue lands had taught her this lesson and many more. She was sure the brown lioness could take care of herself, but it never hurt, in Iyo's opinion, to give a little bit of advice.

Hlengiwe smiled a little at Iyo's comment. She supposed that it wasn't odd for most of the lionesses to not trust the Firekin. The Bonelands were different from the Firekin in terms of traditions, way of living, and even colors. Even she couldn't imagine having a red coat, neither did she want one. "I will try to be cautious." Try was definitely the word for her to use since caution was not normally part of her vocabulary.
So far though, the red pelts had yet to do anything to cause her to mistrust them. She imagined that they were having a hard time taking in all that was the Bonelands. Of course, her imagination couldn't quite tell her what their life must be like. Perhaps she'd ask one of them one day whenever she got the chance.

"Good," she replied when the brown lioness agreed. She wished others would be more cautious around the red pelts. Even if she could get one lion at a time to be more careful, Iyo would feel satisfied.
Iyo looked to the sky. The sun was moving from its position at its peak. soon it would be dusk. If the others hadn't noticed they were both away they would surely then.
"Come," she said as she rose from the ground, giving herself a shake to remove some of the dust she had gathered from sitting down. "We should get back to the group."

Hlengiwe was glad that her response seemed to pleas Iyo. She nodded when the other lioness mentioned getting back to the others. "We should. After you Iyo." It had gotten late while she wasn't paying attention. Her eyes looked up at the sky as she followed behind Iyo. It was good that she had finally met Iyo though. She thought about going around and meeting the rest of the pride, properly.
