nickname Willow gender Female age 23 occupation Owner of the Horn-Graced Apothecary
personality Easy-going and relaxed, much to the help of the cups of tea that are with her everywhere she goes. Willow drowns her stress and panic in her specially brewed tea that "calms the body, sharpens the mind". After all she has to be at her best when healing the people who need her. But not everyone lives. She swears on her mother's grave that she sees those she could not save, that they are with her every day. Though whether they are actual spirits or just a unnecessarily guilty conscious, she's not really sure.
history Willow had always known that she would be Graced. Her mother had been, and her mother before her, and the mother before that as well. The gift of Grace ran through their veins. But she never knew how.
So, when Willow reached the age of understanding, when her body and magic began to develop, her mother gave her a wonderful gift. A blessed piece of the horn of a Unicorn, fitted as a pendant on a leather cord, and a story to answer her questions.
Many, many years ago, the Wolves ran rampent through the Forest, killing everything and everyone. Even the beautiful, single-horned beasts of protection were not spared. One day, Willow's ancestor, Damiana Pau D'arco, stumbled across a Unicorn that had managed to escape but was gravely wounded. Damiana knew not of magic, for she was an orphan untaught, but her knowledge of healing herbs was great. She did everything in her power to save the Unicorn. Thankfully, it was enough, and the Unicorn lived to fight another day. But before he left, broke off the tip of his horn and place it in her hands. He pressed the ragged edge of his horn to her brow, telling her that her gift for healing shall be passed on to her daughters and to their daughters, and the daughters after that.
Willow never doubted that story, even though the trained eye could easily see that the horn was just a carved tusk, and to her, her belief made her magic far more potent. As she grew, Willow learned to heal with herbs and magic, quickly learning that she was more effective on children.
Like her mother before her, when Willow's mother passed on to the Realm of Spirits, she took over the small apothecary shop her family owned at the out skirts of Oldcastle. And that's where she stayed, to this very day, hoping to one day have a daughter to pass on her Grace.
