Yiska had wandered off somewhere again. Shane had driven he Miles and Espen to a park near a large lake with a bike trail for a picnic, but Yiska's mind was too preoccupied with a nightmare he'd been fighting for a week to have any sort of appetite, but he'd taken a pear before finding his own spot by the lake because Shane had insisted. He was nibbling at it absent mindedly while staring at the shallows of the lake. The nightmare he'd been having so much trouble with was a very vigilant one that he'd taken from a kid who dreamed his own drawings would come to life and eat him. It took Yiska a few nights to figure out the root problem of the nightmare was that there was too much life and imagination in each color in the mind of the original dreamer that it turned into a monster and got bigger the longer Yiska took to deal with it.

Now the monster took up its entirely own dream space and had many snake heads made of swirling paint and crayon and each head came with several eyes and even more teeth. Yiska spat out a piece of pear after thinking about being chewed up again, then took another bite knowing that his lack of appetite was because of his inability to stop this nightmare. No, it wasn't that he couldn't stop it, he knew what he had to do now, but that because it was so big and had so many eyes, he couldn't get close enough to deal with it without being spotted. Yiska grabbed a flat stone and skipped it along the surface of the water and wished he knew a way.

((I only have a vague idea where you might be going with a plot, so you might have to poke me with whatever your idea was lol.))

Bliss hummed quietly to herself as she splashed her feet in the water, her stockings and sandels tossed to one side to reveal pale legs with skeletal patterns on them that matched her arms and face.

Dad had been wanting to take them out to the lake for awhile now, but the trip had to be spur-of-the-moment because of Tarot. Not that it had worked; it took them almost an hour before they found the toddler hiding under some blankets on the top shelf of the linen closet. Sometimes it could be annoying to have a psychic in the family. Said toddler was still sitting in the car, sulking, while Dad tried to put her in a good mood. Bliss giggled at the sight, then turned her gaze back to the scenery.

'It's really pretty here, but kinda boring too,' she thought, her splashing taking a more absent-minded turn. There wasn't anyone around to play with; it would be at least another ten minutes before Dad got Tarot in a decent mood and out of the car. Kid had a knack for vanishing when she didn't want to be somewhere. Hmmmm.

Oh! Maybe she should explore! If nothing else it would cure her boredom for awhile, and maybe she would find something really interesting! She jumped up from her spot and grabbed her sandels, leaving the stockings on the ground.

"Dad, I'm going to explore," Bliss called out, springing up from the ground and taking off onto the nearest path, one that curved close to the lake. Once she figured she'd gone far enough in she abandoned the trail entirely, wadding through foliage but sticking close to the lake shore so she didn't get lost.

A sudden splashing sound instantly grabbed Bliss' attention. Maybe it was a lake monster! Holding her breath she creeped forward, looking around for the source of the noise.

Yiska felt an odd sensation, and instinctively made for his bow, until he realized that the feeling wasn't that of danger, but of camaraderie. There was a kindred spirit somewhere among the foliage, despite the fact that he had never met them before he felt a little more at ease. He looked around momentarily until he found the exact direction of the hidden person. He stared, and when a small breeze passed by he could barely make out a mix of colours in the grass creeping towards him.

'Interesting,' he thought. Then turned back to face the lake and skipped another stone.

“You can come out if you want,” he said halfheartedly, unsure if he would rather meet this new person or return to his thoughts.

Bliss eeped and jumped a little, shrinking so that the bush she was currently sneaking past made a shield between her and the lake.

A talking lake monster!

She felt torn. On one hand she wanted to run out there and greet the monster, strike up a conversation, maybe learn a few tricks for future makeup jobs. On the other hand all lore about lake monsters usually ended in being lured away into the water to get drowned. Now it was only their nature and Bliss was the last to judge, but she was pretty sure Dad wouldn't take it too well if he found out she'd talked to a strange lake monster and got dragged away.

How had it even spotted her, anyway? Bliss had a brief pout about that; and here she thought she'd been sneaking so well!

Once her 10-second sulk was over she was brought back to her previous dilemna. To reveal herself, or not? She chewed on her lip, thinking.

"If I come out, you're not gonna grap me and drag me down to the watery depths are you? Dad would be very upset if I let a lake monster drag me to watery depths, even if it's a talking one."

"Huh?" Yiska said with a bit of confusion, what a strange question. He didn't exactly know how to reply to it so he just explained to the girl why she was wrong "Lake monsters don't drag people silly, the eat you in one bite. And, the monsters that eat people don't talk either, they're too stupid. And if any of them lived here they'd be in big trouble from me!"

He skipped another stone.

"So either come out or go away," he said still not turning to face the direction the girl's voice was coming from "but don't just stand there because there's poison ivy close to where you are."
