APPEARANCE Striga is of average height and build, though he has nimble, thin fingers and long hands. His skin is dark: past being deeply tanned, his is nearly the color of cafe au lait, hinting at some gypsy ancestry not too far down his family tree. Though his eyes are appropriately dark, a deep chocolate brown, his hair is unusual: wavy in texture, but a brilliant silver hue. Perhaps he has gone grey earlier in life than most men. Where it would be a shortcoming on some men, it merely makes Striga look distinctive, and somehow matches his exotic looks. His hair is most often pulled back into a loose and careless braid, or stuffed up into a broad-brimmed hat; it is almost never left to hang free down his back. He has crow's feet when he laughs, and dimples when he smiles.
He prefers bright colors and well-cut, flashy clothes: high boots and tight pants with a sash around his waist, perhaps edged in bells, and shirts with open collars and wide sleeves underneath a vest. His hat, with its peacock feather, is his one vanity, and it cost him a pretty penny in a time when pennies were dear. He is often seen with it and is rather protective of it.
PERSONALITY Striga is exceptionally lax in a lot of ways: he is not possessive, is a wanderer, owns very few items, and sees nothing wrong with filching a pie from someone's open window, helping himself to a handful of silver from someone's unwatched coin purse, and using carefully veiled lies to help smooth over hurts. He has made ample use of his striking smile and his singing voice to keep himself out of trouble.
Some might claim that this is just a byproduct of his gypsy ancestry. Striga himself neither confirms nor denies: just laughs.
For all of that, Striga is a fundamentally good sort. If he has an uncanny ability to put down roots wherever he is, and if his music stirs the hearts of men more than is normal, if he can read cards and see the future, and if babies he delivers are healthier than most, perhaps that is a part of his gypsy ancestry, as well...
SKILLS For all that Striga has a seeming inability to take anything seriously, or answer truthfully to anything, he is able to command some power as a hedge-witch, and beyond his knowledge of music he is well-informed about the various properties of flowers, herbs, and spirits. He is also trained in the arts of midwifery, though such a thing is rare.
He also a wonderful soulful voice and knows the guitar and the lute (and the harp) like the back of his hand. His business as a hedgewitch is backed by his abilities as a singer and a bard, and thirdly, secretly, by the fact that hidden in the sash around his waist is a set of lockpicking instruments. He is a thief when times are hard.
HISTORY Unknown. Who's asking? He arrived in Oldcastle three years prior.
FAMILIAR A rook, Garnet can speak in a damnably close estimation of Striga's own voice. In possession of a corvid's natural attraction to shiny things, Garnet has a string of the stones around his neck which not even Striga, as his master, has ever been able to get back from him.
