Pick two others for your team. Meet me in the portal room at 0500 tomorrow. Come prepared, but wear civilian clothing.

PostPosted: Sun Jun 10, 2012 5:09 pm

The message came unexpected, but like all messages that sounded official, Marcus wasn't about to question it. Civilian clothes were easy, sneakers, jeans, t-shirt and a jacket. Nothing out of the ordinary, (unless they were headed in the arctic or jungle again). He hoped that was not the case. Unsure what the mission would entail, he checked out the usual runic daggers.

Thank god for inner coat pockets.

He briefly debated who to invite but, a sun and a life would make a good three man team. Two came to mind and hey, they were all on pretty good terms right?

Robert, mission tomorrow at 0500. Portal room, civilian clothes.

The next day, and he was just on time, hoping they showed up.

Robert didn't expect a text from Marcus... ever. He showed up on time, though it hurt him physically to be up so early. Maybe he hadn't even slept the night before - his hair certainly looked it. And his civilian clothes, while clean and tidy, looked mismatched and just a little silly. Jeans, a t-shirt with a bikini clad woman's chest on it, and a black biker's jacket, topped off by a pair of black sunglasses, perhaps to hide the blood-shot eyes. All that mattered was that he showed up.

When he arrived, he grumbled something about money and itches, and really, it was better off not asking.

Why did missions so often have to be at the buttcrack of dawn? Five o'clock in the morning was a godawful time to be going anywhere. Still, Marcus was asking for his assistance, and so Jordan dragged himself out of bed on time, got dressed in the dark, made it halfway down the hall before remembering the addendum about civilian clothes, and went back to change. Leaving the coat behind made him crankier; he'd gotten used to having its pockets to keep smaller necessities in. At least his kit bag could pass for a laptop case or messenger bag or something, and his chain could be concealed in the bottom of it.

When he showed up in the portal room, he was wearing jeans, an old band t-shirt, sneakers, and a hoodie, a nondescript outfit that should pass for ordinary in most places. He took a look at Robert's shirt, and said, deadpan, "Nice tits."

Edith watched them arrive without comment, finally she nodded at Marcus. "You went for a good balance here." Reaching into her jacket pocket she pulled out a magazine and handed it to the Moon hunter. "How familiar are you with the guy on the cover?"
PostPosted: Mon Jun 11, 2012 4:56 pm

Taking the magazine, Marcus wasn;t sure what to think when he saw the cover. He was... sadly, familiar with the guy on the cover. He pitied the man, really. Some things really were a worse fat than death. Being a teen heart throb with crazed fans was one of them. He'd seen them in high school. Crazy and ******** with a bad taste in books.

The articles on the cover only made him wince. "He's an actor." The trainee shrugged. "An actor with a bunch a crazy fans. Girls back in high school shoved his face on just about everything. He played a vampire or something."

Ohhhh I like him already
You like everyone.
Hrm, pretty much.

The leader nodded, "About right. He's been getting death threats and has a large charity event this evening. His normal security staff's flight has been delayed until tomorrow, so D.E.M Securities has been called in to act as body guards." She handed each of the hunters a D.E.M identification badge and windbreaker. "We aren't a household name or anything, but for those in the industry we have a name for being the best, using small, highly trained units to take care of things other security companies need armies for."
PostPosted: Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:54 pm

Death threats? For what? Not being naked and fulfilling some teenage girl's dream? For being the star of a s**t movie? No envy for the guy, Marcus felt only pity. As Edith explained a small twinge of nervousness shot through him.

'a name for being the best'
That was inferred as 'Don't ******** this up or you'll make us look bad and if you do you will not enjoy the results.'

'take care of things other security companies need armies for'
Translated as 'You will deal with what is dealt and you will not ******** this up because we have the image of complete badasses'.

Marcus was just a hint nervous at that, not to mention this was technically, what he'd requested from Edith in the first place. Body guarding was body guarding after all. Didn't know what you'd get. Changing out his jacket for the windbreaker, he clipped the badge on the front pocket. "Are we just to stay until his staff arrives, and if it's a charity even and we're in casual civilian, I would guess its not a dinner party?"

Jordan pulled the windbreaker on and clipped his badge in place, listening to what the Moon lead had to say about the mission. It seemed that Deus Ex had a lot of branches and a lot of names; that made sense, actually, with the strings they'd have to pull and the clearances they needed to get to certain places for missions. It probably also brought in money. Part of the cash flow question answered.

"Oh my God."

Robert had let out a little whisper when Edith handed Marcus the magazine, and he'd craned his head to get a look at the cover.

"No way."

The second whisper came when she described their mission.

"Oh my God no way."

The third whisper sounded like he was trying to hold something in, and it was of vital importance that he never let it out.

"S-so.. you're sayin'.. we're gonna, uhhh.."

He cleared his throat, and tried to sound manly.

"We're gonna meet Rpattz?"

There was no way to say rpattz while sounding manly.

Robert..was a fan? Marcus just gave him a look. "Pretty sure asking for autographs is considered unprofessional."

Jordan grinned.

Yep.

Robert was never going to hear the end of this.

Edith gave Robert a narrow look and then nodded at Marcus. "It's an outdoor concert. There's a celebrity section as well as a normal fan section. Mr. Pattinson will be watching for the most part, but after intermission he'll be performing. You're to maintain a professional distance that does not disrupt or draw too much attention to yourselves, but keep close enough to act on any presented dangers. Any other questions can wait, portal times can be unpredictable."

The small woman led them through a portal into a small office that opened into a hotel lobby. A male figure with a shining, glorious aura of stardom and hair product was just coming down the stairs. The air trembled with the mindless hormonal thunder of the hundreds of teenage girls waiting outside the hotel's glass doors.

"Welp," Edith began, "guess We made it right in time."

A man in a suit with an earpiece approached them, a look of relief on his face. "Great, you made it. It's like an army of rabid ferrets out there. Rabid ferrets in heat." He scrambled to hand them each an ear piece, "We tried the back exit but they've completely blocked it off."

"No problem," Edith turned to Marcus. "Escort Mr. Pattinson To the car waiting, you three will be riding with him."

Distraction: Distract the fangirls by rolling 1d20! If you roll 16-20, Rpatz moves 10 feet forward!

"OhmygodOhmygodOhmygodOhmygodOhmygodOhmygodOhmygodOhmygod-"

Robert was whispering, both of his hands in front of his face as he chewed his nails and tried not to squeal. He watched as the real Rpattz walked down the stairs, and all of his little whispers - and his breathing stopped.

So. ********. Awesome.

They really were going to escort Robert freakin' Pattinson to a concert. Robert pushed Marcus out of the way - ******** that this was his promotion mission, ******** IT - and stood right up next to the man, looking down at him and his greasy hair. A very long winded whisper came out as he stared down at rpattz.

"Hhhhhhi."

The girls were everywhere. And Robert looked intimidating.. but instead of actually managing to scare a single fangirl, all he ever did was make them laugh.

"You're not good enough for Rpattz!" He flailed at them helplessly.

Fangirls. Jordan had never seen them up close. They were terrifying.

He hooked the earpiece over his ear and put on a carefully composed expression. The roar of a thousand screaming teenagers (and more than a few housewives) was deafening. Jordan moved ahead, giving the girls his best smile and holding his hands out, projecting his voice. "Ladies, a little space please. Don't crowd; Mr. Pattinson smiles better with room to breathe."

It was sort of working; some of the girls in front of them shuffled back, staring starry-eyed at the actor. Enough room to move a few feet, at least.
