 The carnival was in full swing. There were so many people around. So much music and noise. The laughter! The scent of food! Espia loved it. She felt so fully charged with the energy that seemed to fill the air. Espia stood on top of a pole that held above the heads of the carnival visitors a rope bedecked with colorful flags. Her hands were folded behind her and her tail swayed from left to right in time to the upbeat music. Espia closed her eyes and tilted her head into a slight breeze. She adored hearing all these voices, but it made her feel a small bit restless. She wanted...no..needed to do something. But what? She supposed she could go and pick a few pockets. But that tended to get boring after like the third pocket. Plus she didn't have the urge to help herself to anything right now. Maybe she could go and perform some acrobatics for some small crowd? She did like the attention. Espia pursed her lips and pretended to whistle into the air as she shifted from one foot to the other on top of the pole. Ah Venezia! What should she do today?

 Maniacle laughter echos faintly through the delightful cheers and hollers. His eyes dancing with glee, he flips and twirls easily among the crowd, goosing women and flipping up skirts. Sure, some women got a lucky slap in and he occasionally got slugged, but he bounced back with easy and slips away. Probably the most lewd and provocative of the ones serving his Greatness, Olath Jiala took great pride in his work.

There came the sound of anger...and laughter. Espia opened her eyes and leaned forwards some. her tail stiffened out behind her and acted as a counter balance as she peered through the crowd. What was...ah! there! She saw a flash of blue and yellow in a crowd that seemed to be jumping and making noises. Maniacle laughter was easily heard from where she stood. Espia placed one foot on the rope before her, and with all the casualness of sauntering along a sidewalk, she made her way across the rope and to another pole near the disturbance. She could see him now a bit more clearly. He was causing a bit of chaos, and Espia could not stop from grinning ear to ear. Well she may not have a clue what to do herself right now, but that one there seemed to! Espia bent over and with a twist of her fingers she tore a pair of flags off the rope. With one in each hand, she somersaulted off the rope and into a open space near the skirt flipping male. Smiling still Espia attempted to snap Olath's behind with one of the long tails of the carnival flags she held.

((OOC: lulz! Sorry if my posts are off a bit, monkey woke up cuz she pooped and now is fighting sleep again. She's slowly losing the battle, but I'm tired as ********. crying ))
In mid flip, where his head was closer to the ground, Jiala had a split second glimpse of another Jester. She wore relatively the same outfit, but the look on her face and the items in her hands, he could only painfully twist his body in attempt to avoid the flag-snap to his behind. Barely grazing his behind, Jiala was able to follow up with a hiss and another flip, landing at a crouch.
"Well, I do like feisty women, but you, my dear - are interesting."

(Well I am glad you got a laugh outta my post. I hope your monkey went to bed right afterwards. Nothing worse then a sleepy baby!)
Espia watched the other jester boy land in a crouch. her lips curled upwards into a satisfied smirk. Now that she had his attention, she felt a bit more entertained. The hiss he made made her think perhaps he was annoyed that she had interrupted his game...but she didn't much care. The crowd he had been tormenting now had eyes of curiosity rather then disapproval. Espia flicked her wrists, causing the flags to flutter at her sides in response to his interesting comment. Espia lifted her head up some, her smirk turning into a pleased and somewhat smug expression. Her left hand lifted and she twisted the flag some so she could make a few hand signs. Who knew? Maybe he would understand the meaning of the gestures when she spelled her name out to him?

((It was funny. I'll admit that. ^_^ Oooh, she's a mute?))
Standing up and putting his hands behind his head, tail flicking with interest, Olath watched her hands move with quick and precise movements. Perking with even more interest he smirks, "Well, silent and deadly with a flag. It's a pleasure to meet you Miss Espia, I am called Olath Jiala." He nods his head in greeting, "Care to dance?" A joyous grin sprawls across his face as he drops his hands, tail curling and uncurling with glee.

(Well they are jesters, they are instinctively funny? *Small laugh* And I honestly do not know? I think she can talk but does not. I mean, I know she can laugh and make small sounds. I am thinking maybe she refrains from talking for some reason. but she has not told me yet XD )
When Olath would introduce himself, Espia lowered her hand and performed a sort of half bow. Though she kept her head tilted to one side to better keep an eye on the other as she did so. The invitation to dance was sounded rather fun, though she doubted that he meant the sort of joyful dancing some of the carnival visitors often engaged in. Her left blue eye batted in a quick wink at him, indicating her acceptance of his offer before she straightened up and immediately twisted her body into a spin and flip away from Olath. She ended the flip standing on her right hand, her back arched with one leg pointing it's toe at the sky and the other bent at the knee. Her tail wagged back and forth behind her, curling and flicking like a beckoning hand.

((Don't you love it when a character does that? *snort* Some characters it just makes it more interesting, with others its' just plain infuriating.))
"Wonderful!" He flips backwards and then lunges towards her, twisting in the air as he laughs, green eyes dancing in pure joy. Landing with both hands he rolls towards her, attempting to push her off balance with his feet. More of testing her abilities before he did anything else. He like to evaluate his dance partner before getting serious. The crowd had spread out to avoid being hit and allowing them more room, already some people cheered her on, encouraging her to 'beat' him for his escapades for the day.

(I know XD I sat here for over an hour trying to fill in her journal post and got nada from her. She gave me the silent treatment!)
The fact they had gathered a crowd seemed only appropriate to Espia. As a loyal servant of the Carnival God it only seemed right that they became spectacles to those who wandered into his domain. Espia watched Olath as he lunged, rolled, and then attempted to knock her off balance. He was quick, and clearly skilled in acrobatics. Espia wondered if they were evenly matched or if she might be a little overwhelmed by his speed. She usually did better on the high wire or along narrow ledges hen just on wide open ground.
Espia pushed off with her hand, arching backwards away from Olath so she did not start their dance on her backside. That would have made for such a poor show! As she landed on her toes, she snapped both of her flags out towards Olath, attempting to just smack the backs of his palms in a teasing manner. She had no interest in hurting him, so the eyes were clearly not a option, no matter how impressive a target it would have been to temporarily blind him. That just would have been rude!

((I haven't even started properly editing my journals here. I haven't even completed my custom/breeding thread all the way. *sheepish grin*))
Momentarily impressed by her quick recovery from his attempt to unbalance her, he ground his teeth as a sharp tingle ran across the back of his palms. Strike one! Ooooh she's good. Couldn't even move from that one. He chuckles to himself and crouches again, tail arched behind him for additional balance as he swishes some dirt towards her. The ground, thankfully, was rid of rocks and twigs, making it a soft and easily dispersed texture, so if it got in her eyes it would only be irritating. If it got in her mouth, it would just taste gritty.

(Ohy! I haven't even STARTED on that yet! XD)
Espia felt a great deal of pride when the flag tips touched their targets. She was quick with her hands. But so too was Olath it seemed. A haze of dust rose up and Espia lifted her left arm to rub at her suddenly watering eyes. Oh that little cheat! She had avoided the eyes but clearly he didn't think anything of it. Her tail snapped back and forth in quick angry cat like jerks as she back stepped to try and give her some space between herself and Olath as she tried to clear her sight.

Using the poof of dust to his advantage, Jiala had scurried around behind her and up a pole with surprisingly fast agility. Peering down at her as the crowd boo-ed his cheap shot, he waits for her to gain her grounding again. "Well! A simple trick like that got you, my my my, love! How embarrassing!"

She could hear the booing of the crowd, which clearly meant she had a large portion of the support here. How cute. Espia dropped her arm from her eyes and turned to the sound of Jiala's voice. Up a pole hmm? With her eyesight clear now, she arched a brow at him and sauntered over to a bench. With a series of light hops and flips, she vulted from the bench onto a vendors stall. From there she leaps up onto a lightpost, then finished her flips off by landing on the rope attached to the pole he now stood upon. Her tail stiffened behind her, acting as a natural balancing mechanism. She lifted her hand and shook a finger at Jiala in a scolding manner, though it did little to take away from the fact she was grinning again. So it was a cheap shot, big deal! He had at least waited for her to get her sight back.

Ignoring the boos' and concentrating on his dance partner, it seemed that distance and being quick was his only way to properly dance with the lady. She was almost as quick as he was, if not matched in some areas or even faster. Jiala stands up right, tail swaying behind him for balance as he slides onto the rope, curling his toes just a smidgen to grip lightly to the coarse material. "Ooooh, my lady! A dance above is the most thrilling, it's a pleasure to have you join me above where gravity, becomes an enemy and friend."

He was quiet the smooth talker. If Espia could have spoke, she was positive their witty banter would have amused the crowd greatly. Instead, she merely gave a happy little laugh, then brought her left hand around to lightly kiss the tips of her fingers. Blowing the kiss to Jiala she took a step towards him, ever so aware of the eyes turned upwards. Twisting her right hand, she snapped the flag she held in the air, as there was still too much space between them to actually hit Jiala from their positions. Hmm... Thus far they had only taken little jabs at each other. Perhaps now was a good time to show off some? Espia bent her knee and gave a little hop on the rope, causing it to tremble under her feet. Still, she remained as perfectly balanced as someone walking on flat ground. She needed to see how good his balance was up here, or else be ready to grab him should he fall. The last thing Espia wanted was to have her playmate break something and get laid up!
