How has your avatar evolved over time? Have they lead over time to one central avatar? Feel free to post examples here.

Matasoga
Matasoga's Evolution: Part one
Yes, this is going to be so long that I've decided to break it up by ten-avatar increments... I have been at this for a long time, after all.
Eventually through (spamming) effort and gift-boxes, when I finally got my first main avatar to a state that I considered more or less finished, it was pretty much like this.
Later, I remember I dropped the bandages in favor or the wraith cloak... No one would ever see my face, though since that was the only item that I remember changing, I don't think that another picture is warranted.
The next big change that I remember was when Christmas came around and they released those long bull horns. I liked they way that they worked with the skull helmet, so I got on board with that combination. Was it the Halloween before that they released the tailcoats and cravats? I'm not sure, but I do remember that I spent a decent amount of time like this.
By this point the sketchbook had also been added. I remember I held it out in front of me (not as pictured, but such is tektek) and I remember when people asked me what I was reading, I would tell them "I'm reading the bible backwards. I'm trying to summon something..."
Eventually, I got to be very taken with my fedora, and this was before Gaia actually had any. The nearest substitute was the gunner hat, seen below, which I allowed to replace my old headgear. At this point, I did away with the undercoat, opting for a somewhat fleshier look. It wasn't my usual style, but it was well enough in keeping with the somewhat if a ladies-man reputation he had begun to garner, at least in small circles. Oh, also added here is the belt, but it was actually there for some time, earlier.
The next biggest change was buying my first ever MC, the Shadow Spirit. It was a definite favorite. At around this point, I think that I noticed that the skull hairpin worked pretty nicely with the hat that I wore. These may be few and small changes, but the next update is much bigger.
I have no idea which of these came in what order, but I started to go a little MC crazy. They all started to seem so much more... Attainable, after I actually bought one. Now I'm unsure about a lot of things, but this one is taken pretty directly from the time they had that QOOP promotion. Does anyone else remember that? I had a disposable income and a love for my avatar that moved me to spend $20 on a shirt. It's white, so I hardly ever wear it, but if nothing else, nothing else at all, it serves as a snapshot in time. This one I am certain of.
I liked that these pants didn't ride so low and it showed less tummy. I decided that the gold showed wealth and by that time I had indeed decided that Matasoga had -some- draconic blood... Though it seems to me that the headfins must have showed up sooner, even though they aren't pictured before now.
It was next, I believe, that the fedora was finally granted to us. I wasted no time in buying one and kept it forever until I gave it to Victoria after a guild contest some time back (though I immediately bought a new one). I believe that by this time the tuxedo coat had made a return. I know that by now (if not earlier) I had removed the Shadow Spirit and (if I'm not mistaken) the Lunar Scythe was also gone.
I don't think that I left it this way without going a more draconic route, but I am certain that soon after, I was affluent enough that things got busy... Really busy. I wanted to go a dark route, so I nixed the gold armbands, and could afford the demon bow and three dark halos... So of course I had to be wearing them -all- the time. This was the result.
Eventually I reigned myself in, and dropped some of the things, and I'm sure that I had taken the draconic skin by this point. I didn't much like the face, but since I knew (even then) that Matasoga was the tricky sort that he would probably paint his face white to obscure his lineage (and the powers that came with it) so I equipped the white greasepaint. I liked the impression that it gave with the other clown makeup, so I added it, too. I wanted the fedora to have a darker shadow, so I added the black eyestripe. I thought that leaving one eye visible would make a far more striking impression, so I covered that as well.
The next record that I have is some avatar art that I did of myself in black and white. I believe that it came next. Evidently, either I never took of the Dark Halo wing-like prongs, or I put them back on. Though I can't verify this with black and white art, I know I used the darker cravat at one point, and it was probably around this time that I experimented with it. I know that I carried the Summoning Tome with me for a long time, as well, in addition to it's raven on the shoulder perch. It seems that I also took off the tailcoat, at least for this picture and it was nearing the Halloween event, so I equipped the flower to show the stand that I was taking against the vampires.
If the blue tail hadn't been added before now, it certainly took no longer than this. To further unobscure his draconic blood, I decided to stop covering all of his other skin and let some of the Superior Form scales actually show up. There's no sense in having a pricey MC if you're going to hide it, entirely. For this reason I lost the coat and gloves. (Also, I neglected to include the raven in the last post. It has been added).
And that concludes part one of my journey.

Saber has varied greatly on my quest for an avatar base that I really like. She started off as a troll and then became an elf, then she was fully human for awhile before I finally settled on the demon/human hybrid. She started off with long blue hair before I decided short white hair was easier to work with but she has always had gray eyes. They were always the same style too until just recently.
You can also see, she has become much less cluttered and other than occasionally, much less colorful as well.

Matasoga
It was around this point that I started to chill out a bit and I removed all of the items that weren't really part of his character or in any sense normal clothing, so I nixed the Dark Halos, all of the random little body wings, and the raven. I kept the book though. I didn't get rid of it unless I wanted him to have his hands free.
The next important development for Matasoga would probably be The Skipper's Coat. I put that on (and removed the items that I forgot to remove earlier) as well as the items that made the coat look cluttered.
I later decided that the pocket watch detracted from not only the coat but the fantasy element, as well. I removed it and instead added a few things to give him a more militant feel. I gave him badges to make him appear a decorated veteran and gave him the Death Whisper spear. I also added a siver ring to his finger, gave him a syrinx ("Faunzy's Flute") and switched out his belt for Blade's Black Belt. I didn't like the golden buckle, but I was a big fan of the fact that it had pouches, which are very important for a spellcaster in D & D.
I RPed with him this way for a long time...
The next changes that I recall happening around this time were my defeat of End Boss in zOMGsufficient times to get my scarf, the swapping out of Blade's Belt for the Demonic Belt, my being able to afford the Chain Wallet, my snake familiar finally gaining some representation on my avatar, and small wings appearing.
To be continued...

You really weren't kidding when you said you had a lot of avatars to go through. I look forward to seeing the rest.

You added the tail quite a while before that. I remember that item came out shortly after I joined Gaia (back in '07), and it wasn't long afterward that you'd started wearing it regularly. It was at least several months before the zoot suit tapa was released.

Thanks for the correction. I may go back and fix things, after I complete the list.

My avatar has always been shades of blue. And once the wings came about, I think that really set my mindset of who I wanted to be, pixel wise. I think I'm finally settling into a groove, despite the fact that I still love to change up my look here and there. But the blues, the hair and wings and Storge eyes, are the most accurate to who I feel like I really am.
