Heaven-Leigh's hooves padded softly on the sand. The sound of the waves echoed in her ears and she stared down at her shadow created by the setting sun. Many times she had gone on adventures near these shores but today...today she was feeling discouraged. All she wanted was to be of some use to the people around her, but her clumsiness was causing so many problems. She'd stumbled into one of the wagons in the village, causing a crate to fall onto a child. Luckily, the child was okay, and Heaven-Leigh had been able to help her leg heal. The child had forgiven her, wrapping her reassuring arms around Leigh's neck, but still Leigh felt awful.

Leigh snorted and kicked at the sand, wishing the sparkling colors reflected in the suns light would bring some joy into her heart. There were other great things about her, even if she was clumsy. This is what she kept telling herself.

Skylar twittered a soft song in her ear, knowing that Leigh was upset. There was nothing poor Skylar could have done to stop the incident, but she felt sorry for Leigh and wished there was something she could do to cheer her.

She hopped up onto Leigh's head and looked out over the sand. If she could find a pretty sea shell, perhaps that could distract Leigh from being sad. Skylar puffed out her chest and fluttered into the air. "I'll be right back," she chirped, and went soaring over the sand, looking for anything shiny.

User Image Vayu glided through the air trying to meditate. He kept finding is thoughts wandering back to his home village. Wondering how is parents and two-leggers were doing. Were they out riding and looking for herbs? He always enjoyed those days. Or maybe they were preparing for a ceremony. He was aching to go back and see them, but he knew his journey had just begun and it was not time yet. They would all be disappointed if he did not take his time and fulfill the different parts of his quest. So far he didn't feel like he had accomplished much. He needed to let go of the past and focus on his spirit quest.

Part of his quest was learning to be at peace with himself and to do that he needed to let his mind refocus on the present. He took in the surroundings with all of his senses. The salty sea air filled his nostrils and he could hear the waves and feel the wind lull him with the sound. He watched as the waves lapped at the shore and gently glided above them as he focused on the experience.

Heaven-Leigh took note of Skylar's departure, but she didn't have much to say. Perhaps Skylar wanted to get away from her, even though she knew that probably wasn't the case. Skylar had always been her sure companion through thick and thin. However, after Skylar was gone, Leigh felt a little lonely. She didn't feel like going back to the village, and she had no idea where Abdiel or Lyric was. Lyric could sometimes be found by the sea, but as Leigh turned her head left and right there was no one in sight. She turned her gaze towards the sea and sighed. Closing her eyes, she breathed in the air rolling off the waves and she let it calm her.

Meanwhile, Skylar was scanning the beach for something she thought Heaven-Leigh might like. The first thing she noticed however wasn't anything shiny at all. It was a shadow and it was gliding towards her from the opposite direction. She looked up to see the blue and white stalion soaring overhead. Sklar was in awe at the soq that could fly. Without really thinking about what she was doing, Skylar flapped her wings and let herself be carried up towards the stalion.

Vayu took in deep breaths of the fresh salty air as a new gust ran through his hair and rippled his wing feathers. He felt a wave of sorrow with the gust. The wind seemed to be trying to tell him something. He wondered if it was his own spirit, that of another, or the world itself that was filled with the sorrow. As he thought about it it did not seem to belong to him.

He contemplated on this thought. If it was the world in general, he thought, he would feel it like it was his own. So than it must be that of another, he concluded.

He started to scan the beach below for another Soquili and noticed a small bird flying up towards him. "Hello little friend of the air," he called to the little bird.

Skylar was glad to know that the flying Soq was friendly at least and that she hadn't flown up to him for nothing. He wasn't exactly anything shiny, but the sun did sparkle off of his wing feathers in such a nice way that Skylar thought Heaven-Leigh might like to speak to him. She'd aslo never met a wind horse before, and she thought it just might brighten her spirits a bit.

Skylar's words tumbled out in a song of excitement, "Hello," she said, "would you mind coming and talking with my friend? She's feeling sad and I'm trying to find something to cheer her up." She flapped her wings in a steady motion that kept her afloat. She looked so tiny compared to the stalion; even smaller than she looked next to Heaven-Leigh.

Vayu listened to the little bird....what a friendly little creature. "Of course I will talk to your friend. I like meeting others and I will try my best to cheer here up but not quite sure how I can. Lead the way."

He was mildly curious at what kind of friend a little bird like this one had. He wasn't sure if he should expect a Soquili, some other creature, or maybe even a human. Whoever she was he thought to himself that this friend must be the source of the sadness he felt on the wind. Since he didn't know her he wasn't sure what he could do to cheer her up. He wasn't really known for his cheerfulness.

Skylar twittered happily in her singsong voice and immediately led the way back down the beach towards Heaven-Leigh. Skylar wasn't exactly accustomed to meeting strangers in such a forward way, she'd never done it before, but it seemed to work great. Maybe what Heaven-Leigh needed was a new friend. Skylar was excited that the wind stallion had agreed so readily to meet Leigh.

As Leigh's pink form came into view, Skylar soared downward to land on her head right behind her horn. She lovingly nibbled Leigh's ear and whispered, "I found a new friend. He can fly!"

Leigh looked up a little startled, but was already pleased with the sight of the flying stallion. It wasn't uncommon to be able to fly, but Leigh couldn't do it, and she'd always wished that she could. She was often times a little jealous of Skylar, but she and Skylar were friends and Skylar would always help Leigh when there was something up high that she couldn't reach. This was why there were no hard feelings between them and they almost always got along.

Leigh hoped that whatever happened, she wouldn't embarrass herself in front of this new soquili. She tried smiling up at him as he approached.

Vayu followed the little bird down towards the friend. Even though he was flying against the wind he made it look effortless. This was his where he was most at home.

As the approached Vayu found coming into his view a fair and lovely pink unicorn mare. He had heard stories about unicorns but had yet to meet one personally. His family consisted entirely of winds and those next to him were regular soquilli. Her coloring and clothing gave off a cheerfulness that made Vayu sad to think of her as sad.

He glided down gracefully and landed a comfortable distance in front of her. "Hello, your little friend said she thought you would like to meet me. My name is Vayu," He said in friendly manner.

Leigh couldn't really hide the awe from her smile as she watched the wind stallion land before her. She would love to try flying into the sky!

At his words, Leigh flashed a glare at Skylar. "Oh, she did, did she?" She wondered what else the little bird had told him.

Skylar bit Leigh's ear as she landed on her head, not enough to hurt, but enough to be payback for the glare she had received.

Leigh quickly fashioned her features back into a smile and adressed the male again. "Hello, Vayu. I'm Heaven-Leigh. You can just call me Leigh if you want though."

Skylar burrowed into Leigh's hair, out of way of the conversation. She wasn't particularly interested, this had only been to cheer Leigh up. Skylar knew what it was like to fly; she did it all the time.

Leigh spoke up again, "I hope Skylar didn't tell you too much nonsense about me. But she was right about one thing, I am glad to meet you. I've always wished that I could fly. It seems like a lot of fun."

Vayu watched the interaction between Leigh and Skylar and found himself smiling. It seemed obvious they were indeed good friends. He didn't see any hint of sadness from the mare and wondered if what he thought earlier was wrong. Though he was pleased that she seemed to be in a pleasant mood. He didn't quite know how to deal with others emotions. He watched the little bird nuzzle down and turned his attention back to Leigh.

He smiled at her. "Well her intentions seemed good and I am glad to meet you too. I think I needed a break from flying anyways." With that he stretched his wings out in and shook them a little and pulled them back in close to his body. His wings were a bit achy. He looked for the sun and realized he had been flying all morning. He let his hooves sink into the sand and he felt planted securely in the ground.

He thought about how to respond to her last comment, and said, "It is a lot fun and I feel at peace when I am in the sky. It is like a second home to me. I wish I could share it with you." He smiled serenely at Leigh.
